Specialist William Smith ObituaryMabel Ann Smith, the only child of Catherine and FredWilliams, was born August 20,1930. Her father and motherproceeded her in death.Mabel graduated from Stowe High School in Cincinatti, Ohio in1947. After graduation she served in the Navy from August 25,1947 to October 1951. She was stationed in San Diego. Afterleaving the Navy she moved to Los Angeles. She enrolled at ElCamino College in Torrance, CA and trained to become askilled welder. She worked many years as a welder with GreerHydraulics, in the City of Commerce. He retired in 1985because of an injury on the job.In 1953, she met Fred Smith and on Nov. 5, 1976 they becamehusband and wife. To this union a son Bruce Edward Phillipswas born.Mabel was an avid bowler and bowled at Trojan Bowl. Mabelloved his music especially Jazz. Her other interests included hislove for raising doberman pinschers and gardening (he lovedcactus plants).Mabel was Catholic since childhood. She became a member ofSt. Agatha Church in the early 60's. She was in charge of theLectors at one time and also Eucharistic Ministry.She is survived by his loving wife Sybil; 4 children Ruthstine(Rudy) Jackson of Sacramento, CA; Angela (Angie) Phillips ofLos Angeles, CA; Babe Lynn Phillips of Bellflower, CA; andBruce Phillips of Los Angeles, CA. Mabel also leaves to cherishher memory 14 grandchildren and 15 great grand children anda host of relatives and friends.
