Selling Hotel and Car Participant Guide Selling Car and Hotel Overview The purpose of the Selling Car and Hotel course is to teach travel employees how to sell hotel and car products to ACG members. The Selling Hotel and Car course includes online learning, virtual, instructor-led, and product and system training. Practice activities allow the learner to complete hotel and car reservations. These activities have been carefully selected and designed to ensure that learners develop the skills and abilities critical to selling hotel and car with the tools provided. 2 November 2019 TRVL-00213

Identify each computer application used in the selling process and why each is used. Identify the seven steps of the selling process. You will also need to consider the reservation and cancellation types that hotel vendors use to reserve a booking. Once enabled, the setting remains in effect across an agent’s sessions. For example, if Hotel Retail interface was off when you last used Smartpoint, it will remain off when you return the following day. You can display hotel availability with Travelport Smartpoint using interactive links, menus and the calendar function Alternatively, you can search for hotel availability using the calendar function. If children are specified, a Distance drop down will appear where you must specify the age of the child. • Enter the airport or city code where the traveler wishes to stay. If the code is unknown, Smartpoint will display a name list when you type in the full city name. • Note: You may click the drop down under Search Type to search by other criteria if required. • The default search is within 30 miles. You can change this if needed. • Use the drop-down to specify miles and specify the distance from the reference point. Property Details • You can search in an alternative currency if necessary. • Enter the specific property name / word or first three characters of a word to search for properties • For example, ‘Park’ will display a list of hotels with the word park in the name of the property. • You can search for a type of property such as hotel or motel. Selling Hotel and Car Appendix D Hotel Rates Rates Hotel Retail interface initially opens to the three-window default view. The default view displays the Hotel list, map and terminal windows: Hotel list The Hotel list window displays results returned by the current hotel search. The window’s header displays information issued from the query: • For US locations: A two-letter state code, city, and the in/out dates. • For all other locations: C (for country), a two-letter country code, city, and the in/out dates. • Initial search results contain up to 50 properties. Use the scroll bar to view each page or use the Page Down buttons to search the complete list. By default, the hotels are listed in the preferred sort order. Hotel information provided in the hotel list includes: • Line number • Hotel name • Phone number, by hovering over the phone icon to the right of the hotel name • Hotel address • TripAdvisor rating and the number of TripAdvisor reviews. To sort the list from lowest to highest, ensure the triangle at the bottom right of the highlighted heading is pointing up. To sort the list from highest to lowest, ensure the triangle at the bottom right of the highlighted heading is pointing down. Filter hotel list results: Filters are available to narrow hotel list search results: Available hotels Free high-speed internet Free breakfast Airport shuttle Show only hotels with refundable rates To activate/deactivate the available hotels, free high-speed internet, airport shuttle amenity, and free breakfast filters, press the respective icons. Active filters are highlighted. You can also filter by: • Specific text entered in the Search field: . The search is performed . To activate/deactivate the Hotel Chain drop-down menu, press . You can also search for hotels by selecting the Chain filter drop-down and typing text in the text box. After typing, the chain and brand options are filtered down to matching results. You can use the mouse to select the desired chain or brand or press Enter to select the remaining results. You can search within the currency list by typing the currency name. You can also execute the HOA*R/[new currency code] command in the terminal window. A-20 November 2019

Selling Hotel and Car Appendix D Hotel Rates Navigation within the hotel list To navigate within the hotel search results list, the navigation panel can be used. • To switch next or previous page, press: • To switch to a page directly, enter the page number in the white box and press Enter. • • To switch to the first page, press the double arrow button pointing up. To switch to the last page, use double arrow button pointing down. • To place the cursor in the Search field, press CTRL+F. • To retrieve more results, press Load More at the bottom of the last page of results. If applied, all filters and sort options are dropped, and new properties added to the search results in the preferred sort order. The indicator displays below the line number, indicating any new hotels added to the hotel list after selecting Load More: A-21 November 2019

Selling Hotel and Car Appendix D Hotel Rates Initiate a new search from the hotel list To initiate a new search from within Hotel Retail, open the Smartpoint Hotel Availability Search form by pressing New Search at the bottom of the Hotel List. To initiate a new search based on an unavailable hotel’s location, press Find Nearby Hotels. Your previous search’s dates and rate access codes are automatically applied to the new search. Selling Hotel and Car Appendix D Hotel Rates Rate details After selecting a hotel from the hotel list, the Rate Details window appears with the list of available rates. The window header displays the name and address of the selected hotel: By default, rates are listed in order of rate type. The sort order is Corporate Negotiated, Consortium, Travelport Exclusive, Frequent Guest, and Other. Travelport Exclusive rates is a new program that provides Travelport agencies access to exclusive hotel rates. These rates are available in a limited number of locations initially. As the program expands, other cities will be incorporated. If Travelport Exclusive rates exist, displays in the Rate Type column. If a hotel offers Frequent Guest rates, displays in the Rate Type column. A-23 November 2019
