ASSEMBLY “Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.” Compassion is the bond that unites all of humanity. Compassion embraces the noblest characteristics of human beings. It allows us to think of others instead of always focusing on ourselves. It refuses to be selfish, it is willing to forgive, and it accepts people for who they are. Students of grade 3 con- ducted an assembly based on compassion ,tolerance ,love and humanity. Through the skit ,students spread the message that compassion and tolerance are signs of strength and if we start giving importance to kindness, love and compassion then the earth itself will be considered as heaven. Our Grade 1 and 2 Dunites once again showed their mettle on the bigger platform “ THE DANSE PIRE”, a semi classic dance per- formance competition held at Abu Dhabi Indian School, Murror on the 6th, Feb 2020. Our dance crew of grade 1 and 2 bagged first prize amongst the 9 participating schools across the Abu Dhabi Emirate. The dance act presented by our students was thematically based on women empowerment and women education. Our little buds truly showed how teamwork and dedication yield in fruitful results. Hearty Congratulations to the title winners of “THE DANCE PIRE” competition.

Children came up with wonderful ideas and made paper craft hanging designs and put them creatively. The little hands worked smoothly and efficiently and created masterpiec- es and showed their innate talent. Dunes International School have been providing stu- dents an opportunity to display these skills and also their dexterity in paper folding to present superlative paper craft compositions. paper craft is the collection of art forms em- ploying paper or card as the primary artistic medium for the creation of one, two or three- dimensional objects. The students participated in this creative venture with great zeal and high spirits. This activity triggered their imagination and enhanced their creative skills. The paper folding craft was not only a fun filled experience, but it also proved to be a valu- able means to develop artistic skills in the young ones . Page 4 Sneak Peek

Some students participated the teacher in explaining the difference between similarity and difference, where the teacher chose some different students and some similar students to explain the difference be- tween the word ‫مختلفان‬and . ‫متشابهان‬ Some students also draw pictures of different things and similar things, and write the two meanings in Arabic. Freestyle is a way of dancing in which the dancer improvises his/her moves on the spot, as he/she dances, instead of having them planned beforehand. Ability to perform it depends upon a person’s sense of natural rhythm and knowledge of current dance moves. As music and dance styles change, freestyle contin- ues to evolve. Creative writing in all forms has immeasurable benefits for young minds—but short stories are without a doubt one of the most effective ways to get those brains turning. When students write short stories, they practice a number of key creative skills, including imagination, critical thinking, description, conse- quence, and empathy. A short story writing prompts encourages students to think creatively and to give them an opportunity to develop their own characters and plot lines. Grade 2 Students wrote a short story with the help of the prompts and had to recreate their own story with it. Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 7

It is very important to learn the correct pronunciation as well as the spelling of the words of ref and paden . It plays an important role during the learning process of Hindi lan- guage . so Grade 2 Children are writing the ref and paden words name for the given pic- tures, which is some how connected to their real life . This kind of activity will help to in- crease their vocabulary . Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 8

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “You must be truthful. Verily, truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. Books play a very important role in everyone’s life, especially in a students’ life. They are their best friends because they inspire students to do great things in life and overcome their failures. Students learn a lot of things from them. Books are the best companions as they provide them knowledge unconditionally without asking anything in return. Digital Painting Competition \"Creativity is simply connecting new dots in new ways\" - Sam Horn A 'digital' painting is created on the computer using a graphics program, a virtual paint box with brushes, colours and other supplies. Digital art is an artistic work or practice that uses digital technology as part of the creative or presentation process. Dunes International School always encourages student’s participation in competition for their holistic develop- ment. The aim for this completion was to develop the creativity in students. Students were asked to draw and colour the picture under the topic given in the recom- mended software that is MS Paint or Tux Paint. Microsoft Paint or Tux Paint is a raster graphics editor (a program for creating and processing raster graphics) geared towards young children. Giving wings to their imagination, all the students enthusiastically took part in the competition and came out with colourful and meaningful interpretations of the topic through their wonderful drawings. “ Let’s train them to the inadvertent upshots of life” An awareness session on the deadly fast spreading epidemic of ‘ CoronaVirus was con- ducted on 4th of Feb, 2020 by the class teachers. The session threw light on different as- pects: from the initial symptoms, origin, curing steps, to the essential precautionary measures to be taken while leading prevention from this virulent disease. The session was informative in which students had the opportunity to clarify their doubts. Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 12

The concept of measurement of length using standard units was explained to the students through different activities. Students were given measuring tape and ruler to measure the lengths of different things. They found out the length of their book, table door etc. Students enjoyed the activity of finding their friends height. Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 13

Helping people is important because it's good to do good deeds for others. It's good to help because it makes you feel good about yourself. Helping others is the first step in making the world a better place. Lending a helping hand is one of the easiest things you can do to make a difference in this world. You can improve the world, one day, one per- son and one act of kindness at a time. During this activity grade 2 students created a helping hand by tracing their hands in a colour paper and they wrote on each finger one good deed to help our world. Through this activity students learnt the importance of kind- ness. Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 14

Air Transport-Helicopter Balloon Experiment Air travel is a form of travel in vehicles such as helicopters, hot air balloons, blimps, glid- ers, hang glider, parachuting, airplanes, jet aircraft, or anything else that can sustain flight. Based on the topic air transport students of grade 2 conducted an experiment with the help of materials provided to them. From this experiment students learnt the movement of the wings up that pushes the air down which turns makes the balloon helicopter fly up. Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 15

Playing the tambourine requires skill and attention. Keeping the beat while playing is very important and requires a lot of concentration. Students learn to play the Conga, Tambourine & Djembe while trying to keep beat, which keeps the mind alert and fresh. Learning musical instruments help in keeping a balance between studies and school work. Volume 8, Issue 1 Page 16
