I hope that through this process, you have been able to identify thosejewels from within and have developed the needed passion and drive to share those gifts with the world.Being a debutante is more than learning social graces and preparing yourself for a presentation tosociety. But it is about your inner growth and self-realization of who you are as a young woman, child ofGod and as a unique individual. It is your opportunity to identify what your aspirations and desires arein life and to use those desires as the catalyst to propel you into a world filled with opportunity. Be bold,be audacious, be brave and be strong! Each of you has exactly what it takes to be successful in whateveryour heart desires. We are confident in your amazing ability to be a positive representationof yourself, your families and most importantly, a child of God.After you enjoy the beauty of this Cotillion and enter into a world filled with new experiences, please bereminded of the words of Nelson Mandela:“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyondmeasure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to bebrilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Yourplaying small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that peoplewon't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's notjust in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give otherpeople permission to do the same.”Words cannot express how proud we are of each of you. Our time together has not just benefited you andyour growth, but it has awakened joys within us in which we are truly thankful. Good luck as you go onto college and your chosen career paths. May you take with you the values and lessons learned from thisCotillion season and forever look back at this time with fond memories and treasured moments.Wishing you continued success,Lauren Bridges & Antoinette Rene2017 Debutante Co-Leads

The Cotillion 2017 Chapter HistoryIn the spring of March, 2007 three Sorors with a passion for Sisterhood andCommunity Service met at a local coffee shop in Allen, TX to discuss organizingcommunity service activities in Collin County. Meeting was Sorors Angela Woods,Sonya Turner and Karen Jefferson. They brought together many previous discussionsand ideas coming from various Sorors throughout the area. Before the end of themeeting the Sorors had gone from merely organizing community service activities toexploring the viability of chartering a chapter in Collin County.Over the next month several planning meetings were held and additional Sororsjoined the planning. This team (Sorors Angie Woods, Sonya Turner, Karen Jefferson,Andrea Dennis, Kimberly Davis, Cherise Brown, Deidre Marshall and Angela Oates)became the “Core Team” that would plan activities leading up to the “interest meet-ing.” On June 24th, 2007 at the Benton Pointe Clubhouse in Allen, TX approximately90 active and inactive Sorors came together to confirm their interest and begin thejourney towards chartering a chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in Collin County. From this beginning the “Effort to Charter in Collin County” was born! After ninemonths of hard labor, community service, reclaiming and sharing Delta the joyousoccasion occurred on March 30, 2008 the Collin County Alumnae Chapter ofDelta Sigma Theta Sorority was chartered with 59 Sorors at the Stonebridge RanchCountry Club in McKinney, Texas under the direction of Southwest Regional Director,Soror Gwendolyn Grant, Southwest Regional Representative, Soror Brittany Bass andthen National 1st Vice President, Soror Cynthia M. A. Butler McIntyre. Within fourmonths the chapter doubled in membership! We chartered with a goal of providingFive Star Service to the community.
