FdA Photography End of Year Show 2019 University Campus Oldham

Hannah Wild Year 2 FdA Photography “my favourite item”

The message of my work I believe is to show how things have different meanings to different people and how not everyone is alike, yet when they talk about their favourite thing their faces light up the same and you can see that in my images.

My final outcome will include my favourite pictures from the series I took called, ‘my favourite item’ which shows a portrait of a person talking about their favourite thing and then next to that picture will be what they’re talking about

The planning and finding people to shoot was the hardest and took the longest as at first I didn’t know how I wanted to shoot them, so I experimented with my little sister first because then I knew what looked good and what didn’t.

This shoot was the second shoot using a flash gun and I honestly think it went great. The lighting is good and the props she chose to hold go well with what I want to show. I shot this in her room and I like the outcomes because it doesn’t look too busy especially using the plain wall behind her.

I asked her what her favourite thing was and she said her iPad, I took some pictures of her on it but then she started talking to me whilst I was doing this and I thought the outcome was good so I decided to go with this

At first I didn’t think my final outcomes would come out the way they did. So, with thanks to researching religiously I knew what I wanted to do and it was portraits with a twist.

My main aim is to work with big companies taking photographs of products

Colour Spillage

In order to achieve that I need to be fluent in camera settings and have the skills necessary also need to master all lighting and background

Final outcome will be in commercial photography hoping to work within paints using my creative ideas and having a photo portfolio on this paint images, the colours you see represents paints let your mind guess what is it you see. And if I can work for paint brands creating images and posters that is what I want to do. Just a little idea what I'm doing and how I'm planning and getting ideas for final outcome using beautiful paints. When I see this image for some reason I think of Skittles.

My inspiration is the beauty of paint. I'm really interested to work with paints and to make still shoots and moving image.

These pictures is what I like to call UFO when you look at these images it looks as its in space, pure white bit of shadows and 3 colour dots. I believe these images have turned out to be really good I wanted to achieve something really good and I believe I have just done that. I used 3 lights with soft box two on each side and close up and one light above, the 3 lights were set to F11 and camera aperture was on 16 and had all 3 lights go off together. I wanted all the shots to be close up and making sure the three colours were standing out and had little light reflection. I want to create and do some work with paints if you look at Mark Mawsons work he uses different techniques with paint ink and light on his photography work. Mark is a London based photographer who has more than 25 years experience creative and inspiring images. He specialise in shooting liquids and colour liquid, he has a creative mind they way he wants his images to look he dose his own work and for commercial this give me a lot of idea what I will do next in creating my own ideas. The concept behind my work is the illusion of the 3D image in photography and the use of 3D in photography. I wanted to try something different in my work, where I could test a method of photography that is not widely used, or is in fact extinct in the realms of contemporary photography.

When I started out last year, I found that after browsing through most of my first year work; I had a particular interest in buildings that were abandoned by the public. Buildings that are, essentially, just left to rot as no one really goes near them anymore.

Examples of these can include buildings such as mills from the early 19th Century or old pre-fab houses that have flora and fauna crawling up the sides.

Most of these buildings have now been condemned, repurposed, or just forgotten by the overwhelming majority. This was because their purpose has either been served or because no one really wants them. And as a result, they have either remained stagnant whilst the environment around them changes or the environment has consumed them.

I found it intriguing how the environment affects theses buildings. I like the idea of photographing how man manipulates the land to create a façade of nature.

The reason I chose this specific type of Photography was because I wanted to do something different, in terms of a Photographic perspective and genre. I knew that I wanted to still do something in relation to what I did in my first year, which was old buildings and ruins, but I also wished to pursue an alternative take on my work. Like 3D Photography.

So I researched whatever I could on the subject of 3D Photography; starting from its origins, its practitioners, then its decline and small resurgence. I looked at how the original images of 3D Photography were made, with Stereoscopic images and cameras, studying and examining how the photos were composed, how they were shot as well as what was taken as subjects.

Portrait photoshoot • This is my interpretation of the above portrait. The subject is pensive in mood creating the atmosphere of someone deep in thought. Although it is intentionally dark in colour, I wanted to portray the facial expression and the lighting in the same style of Nick Loizides. The props that I needed for this photo-shoot was a small sofa from the classroom so my model can sit on it and recreate the pose Megahn Perry is doing in the photo Nick Loizides done. For the backdrop I have used a grey backdrop so when I put a light on the backdrop you can see the grey and where the liitg’shtahbalascnkobt ahcitkidt rwoipll.loFookr dark and it will look like this shoot I have used 2 studio lights I used 1 for the backdrop and pointed it in one angle and so when I take the photo it will be where my model head it and the other light I have put that on the life side of me to when I take a photo of my model, my model will be bright so you can see what mood my model is in (facial expression). This photo-shoot was a success because I knew what settings to use for the lights because I learnt it from the previous lesson for portrait photo-shoot.

My work is about empowerment. My work is about empowerment.

Photo-shoot on top of a Car Park • These photos were taken on top of a car park in arndale shopping center. I was taken these photos for my Instagram, I have chosen these photos because the first and second photo were taken in the dark and I used my flash on the camera to take these photos. In the second photo when you enlarge it you can see the photo being blurry and I really like this photo because it is blurry and the thing that stands out is my models shoes because the when the flash went off the shoe lit up. I feel like it looks more better when it is shot in the dark because I really like the lights in the background of the photo and there's a big building behind my model and all of the lights are on the building and I feel like the ambiance is really good. The third photo that I have taken was taken in the same place in the car park, I choose this location because of the background, I was looking into places where you can see a it of the sky and seeing tall building at the background of the model when I take these photos. I have put these photos in my project because I want to do something similar when I photo-shoot for my work.
