It should update the Columns and Rows automatically. Additional information and notes The value entered for Draw Cut Marks is not the length of the trim marks. This is how far into the document the trim marks will be drawn, and it also takes the bleed setting from the advanced panel into consideration. Examples: Bleed 2mm with Draw Cut Marks 2mm = trims will be drawn at document size as set in InDesign. Bleed 0mm with Draw Cut Marks 2mm = trims will be drawn 2mm inside document size so trimmed size will be 4mm smaller than document size as set in InDesignWhen you have completed the settings, click Submit at the top of the page.52 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

NOTE: Special attention and warningIn this demonstration, my campaign websites are hosted on websrv1. – To getto the RURL Wizard on your web server, remember to use your web server namefollowed by /xmpiewizard. In the site list, click the name of the site we are working on. Click on the Dreamweaver Site Definitions link. Click to download either the Windows or Macintosh file as appropriate for your operating system. Click Save.58 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
In the XM_tutorial_resources_v4 folder is an empty directory called website. Save the site configuration file into this folder.Importing the site configuration into Dreamweaver NOTE: Special attention and warning Depending on how your RURL Wizard is configured, you will connect from Dreamweaver to your web server either via FTP or Window SMB file sharing. In my case, I'm connecting to the web server via FTP. If you are connecting via SMB, it is recommended to first check that your computer can connect to the web server via: \\webservername\XMPieWebSites. This is because, depending on your setup, you might be asked to authenticate or login before you get access to this folder and Dreamweaver does not provide dialogs to enter SMB login information. Launch Dreamweaver. Choose Manage Sites from the Site menu. Click the Import site button, and browse to the Dreamweaver site configuration file which you downloaded from the RURL Wizard. You will be asked to select a folder on your computer to hold a local copy of the website. I am choosing the same website folder that is inside the tutorial resources folder.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 59
NOTE: Special attention and warning If you are using SMB to connect to the web server, and are now asked to choose a local root folder for the site, then you have not authenticated to the shared folder on the web server. Click Cancel and return to the note at the top of the page. However, if you are using FTP to connect to the web server, then select the new website folder to keep a local copy of the web pages. After importing the STE file, the new website should be listed in your available sites. Click thesite name to select it, and Click Done.Locate the Files panel in Dreamweaver. If it is not visible, hit F8 or select Files from theWindows menu. Click the + next to the site name in the files panel, to show the files in the local folder. If you are connecting with FTP, you will see only the site configuration file that we saved into the local root folder. If you connected via SMB, you should see all the files in the testing site already. If you're connecting with FTP, click the Synchronise icon. (SMB users should skip to the next page.) Select to Synchronise the Entire site, and to Get newer files from remote. Click Preview...60 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
You will see a list of files that are on the server. Click OK to download the files.Updating the landing page Step by step instructions The web pages will then appear in the Files palette. Double-click on the landing.aspx page to open the first page of the site. For this demonstration, the things we will customise are the: • page title • giveaway text • full name If time permits, you can change the address, fonts, colours and other design aspects.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 61
At the top of the Dreamweaver window, in the Title box, change BlueSky Event to RoundWorld Travel Event. On the left, change the text Free Giveaway to Free Gift and change the font styles byselecting the headerTxtBg class in the properties panel at the bottom of the screen. Additional information and notes Of course you have the full toolset of Dreamweaver to change colours, fonts and other design aspects as required.Open the Bindings palette with Ctrl-F10 on your keyboard, or select Bindings from theWindow menu.In the text of the page, put a space after the Dear {AdorRec.firstname} and before thecomma. Now with the text cursor where we want to insert the ADOR object, click the + nextto ICP Port to see the ADOR objects, click the lastName ADOR object in the Bindings paletteand click Insert.62 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
The lastName ADOR object is inserted into the page. Additional information and notes To delete an ADOR object from the page, just select it and hit delete or backspace. After these text and image changes, your page should look like this:XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 63
Additional information and notesYou will notice that Dreamweaver uses highlighting to show where the XMPieADOR objects will appear on the page. To change the colour, or turn off thisfeature, go to the Dreamweaver Preferences under the Edit menu, or use theCtrl-U shortcut and adjust the settings under Live Data.Previewing your changes on the testing web serverWhen you create a website with the RURL Wizard, XMPie actually creates two separate websites:zz a testing website so you can preview your changes without impacting the live RURL website. In Dreamweaver this site is called the testing website.zz and a live production website which in Dreamweaver is called the remote website.Dreamweaver provides two different methods for you to review the web page you are working by usingthe testing website. The first method is to use Dreamweaver's built-in browser, and the second is to openthe page in which ever browser you prefer. The following section will step you through both the built-in browsing and different browser previewing. Step by step instructions The first and easiest way to preview your page is to click the Live button in the Dreamweaver toolbar. Additional information and notes In Dreamweaver CS5 and CS5.5 the button is called Live View instead of View.64 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
If you have not saved your document, you will first be prompted to save any changes. Click Yes or Yes to All to save. You will be asked to confirm that you want to overwrite the files on the testing server. Click Yes. You will be asked if you want to also upload any necessary linked files for example images, scripts and style sheets. If you have been following exactly this tutorial, you can click either Yes, or No since we have only modified this one page. But remember in future that if you also changed images or linked files, you may also need to upload them to see your changes. Your Dreamweaver will now show the completed page. Notice that Dreamweaver shows the URL to the testing server, and that in the uCreate XM bar, you are able to scroll through different recipients to see the page as it will appear to them.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 65
Additional information and notes Note that many of Dreamweaver's editing features are not available in Live view. To exit Live View, click the Live button again. The second way to preview your changes in Dreamweaver is to ask Dreamweaver to updatethe testing server, and to open the page in your favourite web browser.Press the F12 key on your keyboard, or select Preview in IExplorer from the drop downmenu that appears when you click the icon of the Preview/Debug (world globe) icon in thedocument bar.You will be asked the same questions as when previewing in Dreamweaver. After the files are copied to the test web server your page should open in the selected webbrowser. If you continue to experience the error page, it may be necessary to set the Dreamweaver preference to preview using a temporary file.66 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
Turning on page trackingOf course with any Marketing Campaign, you want to be able to track which recipients have come to thewebsite, which pages they have visited, and what actions they made on the page. The web pages created with the RURL Wizard will already have tracking enabled by default, but thefollowing steps will show how you can set the tracking and change the name of the page that will appearin Marketing Console. Step by step instructions In the uCreate XM menu bar, click Tracking and select Track Page Visits... In the Page Visits dialog, if not already checked, you can check the box to track visits for this page and you can enter a Page Name to identify the page in the reports we create later. Click OK.Updating the live production web serverOur landing page is now complete. We can save and upload any changes to the live production webserver. The following steps will show how to syncronise the remote server. Step by step instructions Save your changes with Control-S or select Save from the File menu. I recommend that you use the full-sized File Explorer when syncronising your websites. It is easy to get confused between the testing and remote websites and the full-size display will more clearly show which site you are updating/synchronising. In the Files palette, click on the Expand/Collapse icon. This will open a new window which enables you to see your local files and the files on the server side-by-side. By default, you should see the files on the Remote site and Local Files. The remote site is the production website. If you don't see Remote site, click the Site Files icon. Click the Syncronise icon.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 67
Select to Synchronise the Entire Site, and to both Get and Put newer files. Click Preview. Additional information and notes If you are working on your websites with other designers, it is a good idea to use Get and Put newer files so you will download any pages changed by your colleagues. If you are working alone on this site, you can safely choose the Put option. You will see that Dreamweaver finds modified landing.aspx page which need to be put to the server. It also sees the STE file we saved into the same directory. Click OK to move the files to the server. After syncronising, you can click either the Expand/Collapse icon again, or click the x in the top right-hand corner to close the file browser and return to your web page design.Updating the confirm details page Step by step instructions In the Files palette, double-click on Update.aspx. On this page we ask the customer to confirm his/her name. We will also add the Email to the form.68 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
First, update the name of the event to RoundWorld Travel's Cruise Event. To add a new row to the table, click any where in the Last name table row. From the Dreamweaver Insert menu, select Table Objects and then Insert Row Below. This will add an empty row below the Last name row. In the first cell of the new row, type the text Email: Click to position your cursor in the second cell. From the Dreamweaver Insert menu, select Form and then Text Field. Enter Email as the ID of the text field. Select No label tag. Click OK. First we want to clean up some design items to make it look better.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 69
Select the new text box. In the Properties palette, check that you have the Email Text Fieldselected. Use the Class drop-down on the to select textbox. You will notice that the vertical spacing between each of the text fields is different. To fix this, move the mouse cursor to the edge of the table next to the First name row until it becomesa black arrow as shown below. While the cursor is an arrow, click and drag down to select thethree table rows. While the three rows are selected, use the Properties palette to set the row H (height) to 38and Vert (vertical alignment) to Middle.I also want to make it more clear to the user thatthey are registering to attend the event.Click to select the Continue button. In the Properties palette, change the Value toRegister.Click off the Continue button to see your changetake effect.70 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
Now the form is looking cleaner, we want to pre-populate the new Email field with the customer's email address that we already have in the database. Select the new Email text field. In the Properties palette, confirm you have the Email TextField selected. Click on the email ADOR object in the Bindings palette and click the button to Bind to input.value. Also, while we are updating the database for this customer, we want to update the Registered column of the database to yes to indicate that the customer has registered to the event. To do this, click to place the cursor inside the form area (I clicked just above the Register button). From the Dreamweaver Insert menu, select Form and then Hidden Field. While the new hidden field is still selected, enter a Name and Value in the Properties palette. Now our page is ready, we need to tell uCreate XM to also update the recipient database with the values from these two new form fields.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 71
Click the Update button on the uCreate XM bar. Link the new Email and registered formfields to the respective ADOR object names. Click OK.The last thing we need to do with the Update page is to check the Tracking settings. We wantMarketing Console to report when someone registers to attend the event. To do this, we willtrack which recipients click the register button. Click to select the Register button, then in the uCreate XM bar click Tracking and select Track This... Change the Action name so it will make more sense later when we are reporting on who has registered. Click OK. The Update page is now complete. Save your file when completed. Additional information and notes As well as buttons, you can also track hyperlinks with the \"track this\" feature, making it easy to create reports on the customer's interests and preferences. The update page is now complete. Save your changes with Control-S or select Save from theFile menu. You can also preview the document on the testing server if you like, and synchronise to thelive production (remote) server as described earlier.72 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
Your page should look like the one below. When completed, Save your page.Updating the email confirmation pageXMPie offers several different ways to create HTML email documents. Since we are here in Dreamweaverin a Cross Media website, this is the first method we will look at. Step by step instructions In the Files palette, double-click on MailConfirmation.aspx. This is the page that creates the HTML email that we will send to the user when they register. If (like me) you did not edit the email in the RURL Wizard editor, you can edit the text of the email to the correct event name, venue, and event date. We also want to provide a link to the PDF coupon for the free giveaway instead of the response URL.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 73
When creating a Dreamweaver web page which will be used as an email, the first thing to dois to set the Page usage to Email. In the uCreate XM bar, click Settings, and choose Page Settings...Switch the Page Usage from Web page to Email. Click OK to save the change. Additional information and notes This step will automatically create an email document in the uProduce dashboard. The document will be named as per the Email Document Name in the above dialog.Next, do the simple text edits like we have done for the previous pages to change the eventname, venue and date.We also want to change the text and URL in the email message. Rather than refer therecipient back to the Response URL (where they've already been), we want to give the URL toget the On Demand PDF of the offer coupon. Delete the text referring the person back to the Response URL. Enter some new text inviting the person to download the coupon PDF. Select the part of the text which you want to be the link, and click the Folder icon next to the Link box in the Properties palette.74 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
At the very top of the dialog, change the radio button to select from Data sources. The XMPie ADOR Objects and other Namespaces will appear. Locate the OnlineDocument Namespace. Expand the group by clicking the + next to the Namespace. Select the PDF document name that you created in the uProduce dashboard. Click OK. The text should get the underline showing that it is now a clickable link. The MailConfirmation page is now complete. Save your file when done. NOTE: Special attention and warning While it is not a problem with this template since it is created by the RURL Wizard, in future web pages you create as email documents, you will need to take special care with images. You need to ensure that the path to the image file is: zz fully qualified (not relational), and zz accessible by the person we are sending the email to (normally someone outside your local network). When placing images in Dreamweaver, it will always try to use relational links (eg images/photo.jpg ) rather than fully qualified links (eg http://www.company. com/images/photo.jpg ). Fortunately, the HTML specification provides us with an easy fix to this without having to prefix all your image paths – the <base> tag. In the email documents setup by the RURL Wizard, the base tag has automatically been added for you: Note that the servername or IP address that the Wizard will automatically place in this tag is controlled by the External Address value in the Path Locator setting which can be found in the dashboard Settings when you login as the Admin user.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 75
Testing emails from inside DreamweaverOf course you can preview your HTML email documents in a web browser, the same way we did back onthe Landing page. But there are many HTML design attributes which are not supported in different emailclients. So, XMPie has made it possible for you to send the email to yourself or to colleagues to test howthe email will appear in different email clients. The following steps show how to send the email from inside Dreamweaver. Step by step instructions Click the Test Email button in the uCreate XM tool bar. Enter your To and From email addresses and enter a Subject for the email test. Select the required Delivery Provider. For this example the confirmation email is only sent to people one at a time as they register, so it is considered to be a Transactional email. Click the Send test email button. Check your email to see how the HTML looks in your email client, and make adjustments to the design in Dreamweaver as necessary. Additional information and notes Delivery providers are setup in the uProduce dashboard. Click the Settings icon, and choose Delivery Providers from the list on the left. Additional information and notes The email pages created by the RURL Wizard already have an email sender footer at the bottom of the page. Spam regulations in some countries require this if you are sending a bulk or commercial email. When you are creating your own emails, you can access the footer from the XMPie.Email.Sender Namespace in the Bindings palette.76 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
NOTE: Special attention and warning If you are using an SMTP Delivery Provider and you see this warning: You have not set the Custom sender details on the Account page as described in \"Creating a new Account\" on page 29 to make the change. The MailConfirmation page is now complete. Save your file when done.Setting up the invitation emailThere is also a second email document MailInvitation.aspx. We are going to use this email later to send abulk email to those recipients who haven't yet come to their Response URL.Repeat the steps from the Confirmation email to prepare the Invitation email document. But, this time we want to use the Response URL in the email rather than the link to the On demand PDFcoupon. Step by step instructions Use the Settings -> Page Settings dialog to change the Page usage to Email. Make the simple text changes. Delete the default URL and change the text. Highlight the text you want as a link. Click the Folder icon next to the Link box in the Dreamweaver Properties palette.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 77
At the very top of the dialog, change the radio button to select from Data sources. Expand the Namespace.XMPie(Travel Campaign) group by clicking the + next to the Namespace. Select the XMPieRURL. Click OK. Test the email if you wish. Save your file when complete.Setting up the thank you pageWe're nearly finished updating the website. There is only one page, the Thankyou.aspx page, remainingfor us to update. One of the things we want to do on the Thank you page, is to add an XMPie control which will send theregistration confirmation email to the customer. Step by step instructions Return to Dreamweaver and in the Files palette, double-click on ThankYou.aspx. This is the page that the user will see after they confirm their details and click to register.78 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
As we have done before, make the simple text changes if (like me) you didn't do them in the RURL Wizard. Click the Trigger Email button on the uCreate XM bar and select Add Email Notification... Check the box to Send a single email as soon as this page is loaded. Enter a Name for the email. Select your Delivery Provider. Select Transactional as your email Classification. Additional information and notes Transactional emails are those where you have an existing relationship with a customer. Commercial emails are for more generic marketing-related messages. For more information, click the ? icon. Enter the email header information by either typing in static information, or by double- clicking the relevant ADOR object in the list on the right. Select the MailConfirmation email as the Main document. Click OK.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 79
Additional information and notes If you are using SMTP, note that some SMTP servers are configured to only accept emails from known email addresses. If your SMTP server is configured like this you will have to set a From email address which is known by the server. Save the ThankYou.aspx page.Uploading the completed pages to the web serverNow all the web pages are completed we should make sure that all pages are saved and syncronise tomake sure all the final pages are on the live production (remote) website. Step by step instructions From the File menu in Dreamweaver select Save All. Now all the pages are complete, we need to make sure we update all the files on both the testing and production websites. In the Files palette, click on the Expand/Collapse icon. This will open a new window which enables you to see your local files and the files on the server. By default, you should be seeing the files on the Remote site. The remote site is the production website. If you don't see Remote Site, click the Site Files icon. Click the Syncronise icon. Select to Synchronise the Entire Site, and to both Get and Put newer files. Click Preview. You will see that Dreamweaver finds any updated files.Click OK to move the files to the server.80 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
Testing the web campaignNow the web server is up-to-date we can test the campaign.Open a web browser and enter in the URL for one of the recipients in your campaign. In my case this is:http://www.rwt.xmpie.com/cruise/Jane.JonesClick I will attend. Now change the email to your email address so you can confirm the email is sendingOK and Submit the registration form.Check that you received the HTML email with the correct date and session details that you chose on theweb form.Confirm the URL in the email is correct, and also click the link in the email to see the On demand PDFcoupon.Open the contacts.txt file in the XM_tutorial_resources_v4 folder to get the names of one or two morerecipient to check. For some, just visit the landing page, and for others click the landing page and alsoregister. Also, remember to leave some unchecked so we can report on those who have not visited theirResponse URL.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 81
Module 9 –uProduce – Creating emaildocumentsIn the previous chapter, when we changed the page type from Web page to Email, XMPie automaticallysetup an email document in the dashboard. If you look in the Documents area of the dashboard, you willsee the two email documents with the names you specified in Dreamweaver:In some cases, if you just want to:zz send out a bulk email without creating a personalised website,zz have a different, separate web page that you want to send as the email body, orzz create a text email message rather than HTMLthen you can simply create the email document in the dashboard, which is what we will do in this chapterto create a text email to inform our event co-ordinator about the registration.DurationAbout 20 minutesObjectivesAt the end of this module, you will be able to:zz Create a new URL-type email document,zz create a new Edit-type email document,zz edit email documents in the dashboard, andzz add a second triggered email to the registration thank you page.MethodHands on exercise with instructor leading82 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
ProcedureCreating edit-type email documents in the dashboard Step by step instructions If you don't have the XMPie dashboard open any more, open a new browser, go to the dashboard URL and login. You can click on the Campaign icon to return to the last campaign you were working on. This should open at the Documents panel. If not, simply click the name of the account you were working on, and then click on the name of the campaign. Click New to create a new document. Change the Document Source to Edit. Enter a Document Name. Enter the text contents of the email. Place the cursor where you want the first ADOR object to appear, and click Insert ADOR.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 83
Check the radio button next to the ADOR you want to insert and click OK.Continue adding ADOR objects and text until you have the text email message as shownbelow. Click Save. Additional information and notes Creating an SMS text message can be done in exactly the same way. Simply set up an account with an email to sms company and there is no programming necessary. You should now have three email documents setup in uProduce.84 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training
Additional information and notes This Edit method to create email body text can also be used to create HTML emails. Simply change the Content Type to HTML, and a tool bar will appear in the browser making it easy to create HTML emails without having to use Dreamweaver. Additional information and notes Emails created using the dashboard Edit feature are much faster for uProduce to send. So, if you wish to send bulk emails to many recipients, it is much more efficient to create emails in this way.Creating URL-type email documents in the dashboardWhile it is not necessary for this example campaign, we will briefly look at URL email documents while inthe uProduce dashboard. Step by step instructions In the dashboard, on the documents page, click New to create a new document. Change Document Source to URL. The URL dialog enable you to enter any valid web page URL as the source of the HTML to send as the email body. Additional information and notes If the web page you are using for the email body is a personalised page, you can add the XMPieRecipientKey ADOR object to the URL by clicking the required ADOR object name in the list on the right.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 85
NOTE: Special attention and warning The Base URL parameter is helpful for fully qualifying paths to images so they will be visible to recipients outside your network. However, if you have already defined a base tag in your HTML email document, then leave this field empty. Refer to the Email Confirmation page setup in the previous chapter for more information on the base tag. NOTE: Special attention and warning Your uProduce server must be able to browse that URL address to be able to pickup the HTML content of the page to send it out as an email. If the page is outside your LAN, and your network's internet connection must pass through a proxy server, then you will have to setup the proxy server details in the Settings area of the dashboard. Also, if your proxy requires authentication, you may need to configure Internet Explorer settings on the uProduce server when logged into the server as the Windows user that is running the XMPie software. In this case, we do not need to create another email using the URL method. Simply click Cancel to close the dialog.Editing email documents in uProduceFrom time to time, you may need to edit the content (or URL) of the email you created in uProduce. Thissection shows the required steps to edit the registration notification email. Step by step instructions In the dashboard Documents area, click the registration notification email. Click the Checkout button.86 Cross Media Tutorial XMPie Training

Additional information and notes The Referral option is designed to insert a new recipient into the database when there is already a known person browsing the current page. In other words, the current person browsing the page is going to refer the new person into the campaign. It is also possible to create a generic static page where we don't know the person who is browsing the page. In this case we would insert the new person into the campaign database using the Self-Registration option. For a Self-Registration page, the Page Type must be set to Static and therefore is not personalised After we successfully insert the new recipient into the database, we want to display a new referral thankyou page. We have not yet created this page, so we can't browse for it.XMPie Training Cross Media Tutorial 95
Just enter the page name referralThanks.aspx. We will have to be careful that we name the next page exactly like this. Also, select the correct ADOR name for each of the fields that we created in the form.NOTE: Special attention and warningIt is important to note that we are not doing any validation of what the customerenters in the form fields. For example we are not checking that the customerenters a valid email address. In most real-world examples you will want to addsome javascript form validation. XMPie recommends W3Schools as an excellentreference site:http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_form_validation.asp Click the Email tab of the Referral Insert dialog. Check the box to Send a single email as soon as insert succeeds. Select your Email provider. Make sure you can click onthe link in the email and get to your Response URL.When you are testing, try to use the same names that you tested at the end of the previous chapter. Wedon't want to test the website for every name in the database. We want to have some recipients whohave not been to the website so we can do some reporting on this in the next chapter.Creating a self-registration web pageIn some cases, you may also want to publish a URL for a poster or advertisement where you will not knowthe person who is browsing the page. You can create a self-registration page for these unknown peopleto enter their information into the campaign database. Step by step instructions In Dreamweaver, open the referral.aspx web page. To save some time creating another new web page, select File -> Save as and call this new page SelfRegistration.aspx.
