Faith Praise the Lord ! ! We all entered 2020 with great anticipations and joy. We made many decisions and planned many events. But Covid 19 virus which is invisible to our naked eyes started destroying the human life all around the world. The fear of this unseen virus changed the social structure of the entire world. Most of the institutions were closed. Houses of worship became silent. Streets and roads became empty. People lost their jobs and their incomes. Gatherings and celebrations were cancelled. People stayed home. Death rate increased day by day which in turn caused anxiety in the community. Funerals were conducted without the presence of dear and near ones. People were depressed. Some of them surrendered to death. People who walked to the hospitals died within few days. All the health care professionals worked hard to sustain the life of the community. During this period, it is appropriate to look back on ourselves about our faith. As Christians we have only one goal in our life. That is the faith in the highest who raised us to the position of children of God through baptism. What is faith? Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen (Heb11:1). Faith is a gift of God. We are the descendants of Abraham who is the father of faith. God the Father patiently awaits us as we stumble and fall away from the truth. When our life is in the midst of roaring waves, we trust our Lord, who calmed the wind and Waves, is with us. When we lose our paths, we believe the one who walked with disciples to Emmaus will lead us by hand to our destination. When we are in financial crisis, we know the one who got the coin from the mouth of a fish will help us. When we are isolated by family, friends, and colleagues we realize the one who was betrayed by his own disciple will whisper in our ears \" do not be afraid, I am with you\". When we are struck with ailments and sickness, He will be there to comfort us; heal us as an unseen guest. Even if He allows pain and difficulties, He will strengthen us to endure those pain and sufferings. When we fall away from His love by denying Him due to our human weakness, He who made Peter the head of the church despite being denied three times by him , will surely forgive us too. When we become the slaves of sin, our Lord, who took on the burden of all our sins and sweated blood in Gethsemane garden, will plead for us to the heavenly Father. When natural disasters occur, we trust in Him who is the creator of all the universe. When there is no food, we depend on Him who multiplied five loaves of bread to five thousand loaves. When our tongue is paralyzed not knowing what to say, he who is the Word Himself will strengthen our tongue. If we are lonely without anyone to go to, our Lord who poured out his heart for us, will say again and again \"I love you\". He will say, \"My Father is your Father, my mother is yours too, and my kingdom is your kingdom too.\" So, we are all members of a big joint family. Why should we worry then? Why should we worry when we are part of that big family that includes God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, holy mother, all the angels and saints. We are looking forward to being with them in the kingdom of God where there will be no more despair or worry. Our belief is that we have been redeemed by the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ to enjoy such a heavenly bliss. This is our faith which is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. Amen. - Ancy Kattuveetil Page | 2 Christ The King Knanaya Catholic Church, New Jersey Issue 4 - Jul 2020

Wellness during the COVID-19 Pandemic Wellness is the active quest of activities, decisions and lifestyles that bring about holistic health. One must deliberately choose to pursue wellness, it cannot be attained through passive means. Attaining wellness goes beyond just physical health, there are several dimensions to wellness. A person’s physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental circumstances affect their level of wellness. Wellness can be viewed as a continuum where we must focus on prevention and maximize our vitality through positive choices. The corona virus pandemic has indeed rattled the entire world. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), I have been providing advanced airway, ventilator and hemodynamic support to patients suffering from COVID-19 in the OR, Emergency Department and ICU. Being on intubation teams and placing invasive lines/monitors for patients really made me realize how fragile life is. The fear and feeling of uncertainty affects everyone but, especially people serving on the front line of patient care. During times of crisis, it may be difficult to be strong but, we can overcome this challenge by working together. Every person has something unique that they can offer during this pandemic. Courage is what allows one to overcome obstacles even when you are placed in a challenging situation. Everyone must draw on their strength and support one another to fight COVID-19 as a community. It is natural to be worried during our current state of uncertainty but, try to look at the broader picture and take on each challenge one at a time. Praying and meditation can be great means to ease anxiety and provide comfort. I encourage everyone to think, write and talk about positive aspects of their day as a way to boost your mood. Acts of genuine kindness towards others can help improve our communities morale and reduce stress. Involving yourself in exercise, stretching and rest has been shown to significantly reduce stress. During this time of quarantine, spend quality time with your family and take time to do things that you have been putting aside. Let us all come together, take care of each other and be well. - Dr. Tobin Mathew Attumalil Page | 3 Christ The King Knanaya Catholic Church, New Jersey Issue 4 – Jul 2020
