Awards 2020-21 Speakers : Delegates from our Club. Rtn. Dr. B. Radhika Rani and Rtn. N. Matrusri enlightened the members about the Interact Awards and cultural performances, while Rtn. J. Kalyana Chakravarthi and Rtn. M. Surya Lakshmi spoke on the sessions. The coverage by Rtn. J. Kalyana Chakravarthi was exem- plary. Rtn. Rajendra Kumar Kukreja and Rtn. B. Hema Kumar narrated on the overall arrange- ments and food while President and Secretary covered the uncovered topics. The members appreciated the delegates and expecially the first timers. BOARD MEETING Date : 10-11-2021 Highlights : About 18 members were present. Charter Night celebrations programme was discussed and resolved to prepone the weekly meeting date of 16th to 13th. Picnic date and venue was finalised. Resolved to issue notice for Election for the President of 2023-24 and Board of 2022- 23 and Election meeting to be held on 14th Nov. 2021. PDG R.K. Jain updated the members about the proposed new club RC of Vizianagaram Fort and several orther resolutions were taken. Though the agenda was so big, all the members patiently participated. The Club celebrated the Charter Night by cutting a cake by all the past presidents of the club. 11 Past Presidents and the ruling President were present on the occasion. Every one shared the highlights of their Presidential years and all felt happy to recollect fond memories. It was an inspiration for all the members particularly new members to participate actively in the Ro- tary activities and become leaders in future to lead the club. All the Past presidents present were felicitated. Meeting with Sri Kishore, IAS Dist. Joint Collector. Date : 17-11-2021 On behalf of our Club, President Rtn. D. Narayana Murthy, Rtn. Dr. M. Venkateswara Rao, Rtn. Dr. K. Tirumala Prasad and Rtn. Manda Ravi Kishore met Sri Kishore, IAS and Dist. Joint Col- lected and suggested of the permanent project - Rotary Library & Reading Room. He expressed his happiness over the activities and the projects which the Club is taken up. He informed that he knew of the activities of the club from his childhood and he derived lot of inspiration from many senior members of the Club and appreciated the idea of the service which all Rotarians does without any expectation. He openly offered to extend his co-operation for any Rotary projects. he was made a Honorary members of the Club at the proposal of Rtn. PDG R.K. Jain and other senior members. WEEKLY MEETING # 5 Date : 30-11-2021 Subject : Policies vs Politics Speaker : Sri K. Ravi Kumar, Global Poll specialist, Analyst, Public Policy Expert & Social Activist. The speaker of the day Sri K. Ravi Kumar a social activist addressed the club on Policies vs Politics. He quoted several examples and touched the subject of Policies vs Politics. He shared his experiences of meeting several politicians, beaurocrats and eminent personalities. He appreciated of the activities which the club is undertaking and agreed to extend his support for any project clearances or approvals and for any other purposes. An amount of Rs. 19,500/- was collected on the spot from the members and donated to a boy suffering from a strange disease and is undergoing dialysys regularly. Rtn. Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao WEEKLY MEETING # 1 Date : 7-12-2021 FAMILY PICNIC - ROTARY VANA VIHARAM A Family picnic was organised for our Rotary family members at KVS Estates, Pedathadivada, located far off to the city and in a pleasant locality with the facility of swimming pool. Meeting part was conducted in the beginning and the Picnic team was introducted - Chairman being Rtn. B. Naga Prakash, Co-Chairman Rtn. Lalit Kumar Jain, Rtn. Dr. B. Radhika Rani, Rtn. B. Hema Kumar, Rtn. B. Kalyan Chakravarthi, Rtn. Rajendra Kumar Kukreja were the team mem- bers. They totally kept all the members busy with lot of fun filled games and lucky dips. Bala Murali Krishna, Project Officer, Dist. Training Team, DM&HO. December being Disease Prevention & Treatment month, a speaker meeting was arranged during our weekly meeting. An experienced Officer in the DM & HO department Dr. T.V. Bala Murali Krishna addressed our Club on the above subject. He started with the causes for the diseases and emphasised on the prevention of such diseases. He gave several examples to make all to undertstand of the importance of the subject. He covered on vaccination, BMI, Junk foods, water contamination, cholesterol, hypertension, life style, etc., In the absence of the President, Rtn. V. Subba Raju presided the meeting. WEEKLY MEETING # 3 Date : 21-12-2021 Subject : CLUB ELECTION Speaker : Election Officer - PDG R.K. Jain The Election for the President 2023-24 and 9 directors was conducted by the Election Officer PDG Rtn. R.K. Jain. There was only one nomination for the post of President 2023-24 - Rtn. Dr. I. Krishna Shanti. Hence she was declared unanimously elected. Again only 9 nominations were received for the posts of 9 directors and the EO declared all those 9 were elected unani- mously. Ramana, Chief Justice Host : RC Vijayawada. on bealf of our Club, Rtn. J. Kalyan Chakravarthi attended the function of Presentation of LIfe Time Achievement Award to Sri N.V. Ramana, Chief Justice of India, host being RC Vijayawada. He is fortunate to have a photo with the CJ and our DG Rama Rao along with galaxy of PDGs on the dais. Indeed, it’s a great honour to RC Vijayawada for recognising such a personality. JOINT BOARD MEETING Date : 27-12-2021 Highlights : 24 members were present. Reviewed the list of members who paid the subscription and Treasurer requested the mem- bers to pay immediately as second half dues to be paid to RI in January. Rtn. Dr. M. Venkateswara Rao enlightened members about the proposed permanent project Rotary Reading Room cum Library. Rtn. V. Subba Rao and his team presented the Report to Board on working of the RO plants set-up by our Club during Diamond jubilee year. Out of 28 plants, 5 plants were not working and the Board resolved to shift to any other place where there is a need after consult- ing the concerned donor and their village heads. Picnic account was submitted by the Chair- man and approved by the Board. Rtn. Manda Ravi Kishore updated the progress of the pro- posed new Club - RC Vizianagaram Fort. President Elect Rtn. D. Uma Balaji presented her team for 2022-23 and allocated the posts to the 9 directors, as they have to be uploaded in the RI website before 31st December 2021. Few other resolutions were also taken. Venkateswara Rao Rtn. Dr. M. Venkateswara Rao have shared his views and tips on Covid 19 pandemic from the beginning and is educating the members on its variants. In this weekly meeting he addressed the members and enlightened on the adverse effects of the Omicron which is considered the 3rd wave in India. Venkateswara Rao explaned in detail to the students of the pan- demic and the care to be taken. Keeping in view of the different age groups and diversified professions of Rotarians she took the topic of Managing Stree at all ages. She explained in a simple language using the alphabets A to Z. Tarak Ravi Kiran addressed the members on the 3rd wave Omicron virus and the care to be taken. Many queries were raised by the members and were answered by him as well as Rtn. Dr. K. Tirumala Prasad. It happens to be the Birthday of Rtn. Dr. K. Tirumala Prasad and the same was celebrated by cutting the cake. WEEKLY MEETING # 3 Date : 18-1-2022 Subject : Music - Devotion - Livelihood Speaker : Dr. Mandapaka Ravi, Mridangam Artist After the festival of Bhogi, Sankranthi and Kanuma, the weekly meeting was held and the speaker Dr. Mandapaka Ravi, a national fame Mridangam artist who served as Software profes- sional and quit his job to make his passion of playing mridangam a livelihood. He perfomrmed many shows at state and national level and bagged several awards and rewards. He address the Club on Music - Devotion - Livelihood and started his speech from the origon of music from ancient times and music should become a part of everyone’s life especially in this fast age. He also said that in ancient day through music they could attain moksha. Diseases can be identified in a body and can be cured with music. Lot of research is taking place on this too. Rtn. Matrusi at her Institute located at PSR Colony. About 5 women joined this 3 weeks course. Rtn. Maturu Murali Krishna, Astt. Governor and Rtn. K. Ravi, Secre- tary attended the event as guests. Special thanks to Rtn. Matrusri for conducting the training programme free of cost and giving life skills to 5 deserved women. Raja Rammohan Rao with ROTARY VOCATIONAL SER- VICE EXCELLENCE AWARD. He reached greater heights in his profession and Rotary wishes him to reach further heights and fulfill all his dreams. Reviewed the performance of the RO plants and 2 plants are ready for setup at new places and as per the received letters, the Board sanctioned them to those needy places. Governor’s official visit programme was fixed on Tueday, 15th March 2022 and Rtn. Maturu Murali Krishna, Asst. Governor confirmed the same after taking confirmation from the Dist. Governor Rtn. M. Ramarao. Projects to be carried out during his visit was discussed. Informed of the Dist. Grant and the World Rotary Day celebrations activities to be carried out on that day. It was resolved to change the weekly meeting date from Tueday to Wednesday, 23rd instead of 22nd. Srinivasa Rao WEEKLY MEETING # 1 Date : 1-3-2022 AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON CYBER CRIMES by Cyber Crime Police Team, Vizianagaram Organisers : Jointly with Rotary Club, Vizianagaram Central & Chamber of Commerce. The event started with the meeting proceedings and later the floor was handed over to the Cyber crime team headed by the Sub Inspector Sri Prasanth Kumar. He conducted the semianr in an impressive manner quoting so many examples. They cautioned and gave so many tips on using the mobile particularly while doing financial transactions, playing games, etc., They cracked many cyber crimes in and around Vizianagaram who fall prey for this hitech cheats. Many members raised several questions and the team answered all with patience. It’s very interesting to note that a dedicated office and a wing to handle cyber crimes in our Vizianagaram district was setup. Earlier, we used to depend on Visakhapatnam and the cases were delayed and priority was not given to us. It was a very useful seminar and was considered the need of the hour. Thanks to the President Sri Kedarisetty Rampanu, President and Sri K. Srinivas, Secretary of Chamber of Commerce and Rtn. The Governor’s Visit day programme started with Tree Plantation and our beloved DG Rtn. M. Ramarao visited the area and joined all in planting the sapplings. Tree guards were also pro- vided. About 30 were planted sponsored by Rtn. Dr. M. Kumara Swamy. Date : 16-3-2022 Event : INAUGURATION OF WATER FOUNTAIN Our Dist. Governor inaugurated the newly installed WATER FOUNTATION - Fountain of Peace at our Rotary Swargadhamam. It is so named as the war is going on between Russa and Ukraine, it’s the wish of our Rotarians that PEACE be established and as a mark of respect our Fountain was named as FOUNTATION OF PEACE. Date : 16-3-2022 Event : INAUGURATIONO OF PUBLIC BENCHES PROJECT We have arranged one model bench at Fort area and about 50 benches are planned during this year at various places suggested by Hon’ble MLA and Municipal Commissioner. Jain family earlier and the same was not maintained properly. So it was again refurbished with the sponsorship of Rs. 70,000/- by Rtn. Praveen Kumar Anchalia. The same was inaugurated by our beloved DG Rtn. Rama Rao. Interactors performed an excellent welcome dance in traditional dresses. Sri S.T.P. Radha Krishnamacharyulu, Dravida Veda Pandit and Stanacharyulu of Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple, Thotapalem, Vizianagaram. He explained of the importance of Ugadi and the predic- tions for people of zodiac signs. Finally he blessed all our Rotarians and their families and served the Ugadi pickle. After President’s opening remarks and self introduction Rtn. J. Kalyana Chakravarthi introducted the speaker with nice words. The speaker spoke on the subject Vijayanagara Vaibhavam. He narrated the history of Vizianagaram from the origon of the Gajapathis rule and covered the important events that took place. His speech made many of our members speechless as many were not aware of such a history before. A memento was presented to him by our President on behalf of all our members. Birhtday of Rtn. G. Conference ‘Ramaneeyam’ held at Vizianagaram on 9th & 10th April 2022. Rtn. H. Rajendra Rai, was the Rotary International President Representative from RC Bangalore West. 48 members from our Club participated in which Silver, Platinum registrations were also done. Our club supported our sponsored Club, RC Vizianagaram Central in susccessful conduct of the Conference. It was a great show and a great success in all ways. Our President Rtn. D. Narayana Murthy participated in a session ‘Serving to Change Lives’ while Rtn. Manda Ravi Kishore also participated in another session on New Clubs. Our PDG R.K. Jain also acted as Moderator for a session entiled ‘3020 then and now’. Fun games were organised to Lady Rotarians while our members actively participated in them. Rtn. Dr. Radhika Rani and Rtn. Surya Lakshmi got a Lucky dips and were given gifts by DG. Rtn. Dr. M. Venkateswara Rao, candidate for the DG 2024-25 attended the interview and has performed very well. A special recognition under Platinum category was presented to our Club for the Polio Plus contribu- tion. Our senior members recollected the Dist. Conference our Club hosted when our Rtn. R.K. Jain was DG in 2000. Our members actively participated and had photographs will all speakers and guests. On the whole, the delegates from our club enjoyed the Conference very well. Page # 2
