Chief and Deputy Academic Officer Updates Action Items ● Please ensure to collect lunch forms. Goal is 100% Informational Items ● Review TTESS timeline to ensure compliance ● Make sure to check in on a weekly basis of students at impact ● Make sure students are goal setting! Curriculum and Instruction Action Items Upcoming Writing Tasks for 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Our Literacy Team will be scoring the 4th grade compositions. We will collect the 4th Grade Writing Tasks from the Instructional Coaches at our IC Meeting on October 4th. 4th Grade Composition Collection Directions- - Ensure every child has a composition and that it has the child’s first name, last name, campus, and teacher - Make a copy of the compositions to use at the campus PLC - The compositions should be in alphabetical order with a class roster on top - Bring the compositions to the IC Meeting on October 4th - Writing prompts should be written on the STAAR lined paper provided for the assessments. - The rubrics for the writing tasks are posted under the Assessment Button on the Content Site. - Campuses should set aside time to adjacent score their compositions with their teams in PLC. Remember to follow the Writing Task Assessment guidelines in the Hays CISD Assessment Guidelines on the Content Site for administration of the writing tasks. Informational Items Social Studies District PLC October 22 ● DBQ training for all Social Studies teachers ● AM and PM session (mixed MS and HS) ○ Half of your SS teachers attend in the AM – 8am – 11am ○ Half of your SS teaches attend in the PM – 12:45 – 3:45 ○ Share subs ● For non-STAAR social studies courses, this is the only district PLC day ELAR/SLAR Kindergarten District PLC We had our Kindergarten District PLCs this week. Advanced Academics Action Items ● AP Registration is open! High school principals, please remind students and parents of the timeline below and of the opportunity to apply for additional financial assistance here. ● As of Thursday, September 26, 140 students district-wide have applied for additional financial assistance. Great work getting the word out; this is 94 more students than we had last week! High schools, please continue to make sure that students know of this opportunity. The deadline for students to apply for additional financial assistance is Friday, October 4. Informational Items ● PSAT will be administered to sophomores and juniors on October 16. Between now and then is the PERFECT time for juniors to be spending about 20 minutes a day on Khan Academy to prep to boost their scores from last year. Consider sharing this information with parents. ● PSAT 8/9 will be offered to 8th grade students on October 23 Joy Philpott

Gifted and Talented Services Action Items ● Campus Showcase: Each campus should hold a showcase between March and May. It should be held in the evening and can be combined with another event. Please submit the date for your campus on the document found at THIS LINK by September 30. ● G/T Walk-throughs - Elementary sign up Secondary sign up Please sign up if you haven’t done so. We want to come out and see how your students are being served. State Assessments and Accountability Action Items The District Data 19-20 folder is where we will be placing our district-level CBA, Interim, and Benchmark data. All campus principals and Instructional Coaches have been given editing rights to their Area Campus Data sheets as well as the new Targeted Support Campus Data sheet. Principals, if there are any other staff member(s) you wish to have editing rights, you may give that access to them. This folder is shared in the ILT folder as well. For the new Targeted Support sheet (now for all campuses), campuses will enter their % Meets for Reading and Math District Assessments. If you have any questions, please contact Kevin Mal. Human Resources Action Items No action items at this time Informational Items Stipends: If any of your staff members did not receive their stipend in their September paycheck for the 2019-2020 school year, please complete a PAN. They will receive their stipend beginning in October. Further, please remind your employees to review their pay stub to ensure their pay is correct. T-TESS: If you hire a teacher between September 6 and January 29, please make arrangements to provide them with T-TESS Training on campus. They must be trained within 15 days of their start date. Our next district-level T-TESS training will be on January 30, 2020.
