The book aims to examine whether liberalism and multiculturalism are reconcilable, and what the limits of liberal democratic interventions in illiberal affairs of minority cultures are within a democratic state. Cohen-Almagor contends that reasonable multiculturalism can be achieved via mechanisms of deliberate democracy, compromise and, when necessary, coercion, protecting basic human rights as well as the exit rights for individuals, if and when they wish to leave their cultural groups. Israeli Professor Benjamin Gidron Fulbright Yitzhak Rabin Award, 2000, Social Work, University of California, Los Angeles Benjamin is a Professor Emeritus in the Israeli Center for Third Sector Research (ICTR) at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. His latest publication is Gidron, Benjamin, and Anna Domaradkka, eds. The New Social and Impact Economy: An International Perspective. New York City: Springer Publishing, 2021. It is an attempt to conceptualize developments after the 2008 economic crisis, which emphasized the pitfalls of the Neo-Liberal economic system. In the aftermath of the crisis, new organizational entities evolved, which combined social and business objectives as part of their mission. The book provides an initial portrait of the forces at play in the evolution of the new social and impact economy, linking those to the past crisis as well as to Covid-19 and comparing the emergence of the phenomenon in a varied group of countries. His most recent publication is Resnikoff, Ariel. Unnatural Bird Migrator. Brooklyn: The Operating System, 2020. Unnatural Bird Migrator stitches together disparate filaments of diasporic language as a living quilt of translational refuse, a patchwork-art gleaned and assembled from the pieces of writing and speech we are quite literally taught to forget. The book traverses the semi-permeable borders between doubling and tripling mother tongues in exile, looping these languages through one another and back again in the form of a highly adaptive poetic boomerang that returns from the “other side” of the linguistic threshold already changed. Dr. Hayyim Rothman Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship, 2018, Philosophy, Bar-Ilan University Hayyim is a researcher of Jewish thought focusing on the intersection of Jewish religion and anarchist thought in the 19th and 20th centuries.
