Counter is remodeling his 1960 residence on Summit Street by adding another story. His intention is to convert the building into 2022 a modern duplex.” At the time the second story was added Dr. Counter also converted the south side of the building into his dental office. According to the Aug. 2, 1928 issue of the Sentinel, Dr. Counter was moving his offices from the Dolph-Reeb building to his residence on Summit Street. The 1930 census showed John and Helen Counter living at the address of 5702 Summit on the first floor of this now two-story home. He was listed as 55 years old, owned the home val- ued at $10,000, and employed as a dentist. Helen was listed as 53 years old, and their daughter Dorothy was 16 years old and attending school. John’s father, George Counter, was still living next door. By the 1940 census John and his wife Helen were still living here and their daughter Dorothy was living at home. She was 26 years old and had

To celebrate, here are three recipes – all using pure maple syrup as the signature ingredient. Warm Maple and Apple Overnight Oats make for a quick breakfast on a busy morning. Crumbly Maple Cranberry Scones are a terrific addition to a brunch buffet. And Maple Soy Glazed Chicken makes a fun, Asian-inspired dinner. Cheers to the arrival of spring! Maple Soy Glazed Chicken Maple Cranberry Scones cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in rolled oats and dried fruit. Sticky, sweet and perfectly caramelized, Flavored with sweet maple syrup and tart Make a well in the center of the dry mix- you’ll want seconds of this glazed chicken. cranberries, these scones are the perfect ac- ture. Hoisin and soy sauces complement the pure companiment to breakfast or a mid-day maple syrup in this quick-cook chicken snack. Makes 6-8 scones In a small mixing bowl, combine eggs, 2 ta- dish. Add the egg mixture to the well of the Fried Rice as shown in picture. Serves 3-4 1/4 cup sugar flour mixture and stir just until moistened. 2 teaspoons cream of tartar Form dough into a ball (dough may be 2 pounds chicken tenders 3/4 teaspoon baking soda sticky). 1 tablespoon olive oil 1/2 cup butter 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup 1/2 cup quick-cooking rolled oats Transfer dough to a cookie sheet. Roll or 3 tablespoons soy sauce 1/2 cup dried cranberries or cherries pat with lightly floured hands into a circle, 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 2 eggs 3/4 inch thick and about 7 inches in diame- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup ter. Cut into 6 to 8 wedges (do not separate Kosher salt to taste 1 tablespoon milk wedges).
