FROM THE PRINCIPAL’s DESK DREAM IS NOT THAT WHICH YOU SEE WHILE SLEEPING IT IS SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT LET YOU SLEEP This is a quote by the missile man of India, Dr. APJ Kalam, which has influenced me and ignited my mind profusely. When we dare to dream great, we are allowing ourselves to experience things as they happen. An amateur sits around and waits for inspiration, on the contrary, others involve themselves. fervently in achieving the goals set. As we make a conscious effort to set goals and achieve them, we certainly will have a richer life experience. When you dare to dream big, you do, A) comprehend that there is a risk associated with the decisions. B) come out of the catacomb, break all limits, and challenge the status quo. C)take steps, indulge in playing active role in your life to turn your goals into reality. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them as stated by Walt Disney. A yale study says that stability shuts off the switch to your brain. In other words, when you remain in your comfort zone, your brain stops learning. Most of our beliefs are moulded in our childhood and if you feel despondent or have no clue, how to turn your dreams into reality, go for a counselling session with your parents and aquatintists. Sometimes it is our difficult emotions, limited beliefs, social programming, and conditioning that hinder us from dreaming high. Every new dawn, you wake up, you are writing another chapter of your life. No one knows how the story is going to end, but ponder, how would you like it to end? Do you want to be victorious because you were willing to dare and dream big, or do you want people to say you are left with untapped potential? Your life is the best gift the universe can give you, so do not waste it. Strive to be a little better each day, and before you know it, you will be everything you thought you could be and more. Aspire to be successful and scale great heights. Daring to dream gives us a mission, passion, and vision. The angle of kite, the velocity of wind, the tension of string, the relative position of the other kites decides the existence and destiny of the kite during a kite flying. Similarly, the perfection of thoughts, deeds, intensions shall refine our dreams to reality. Dare to Dream! -Dr. Leena Francis Dare to be the real you! Dare to live your purpose! Principal Dare to dream because nothing is impossible!

Its main specialty was Maki ki roti, Gatte ki sabji and dal bati. The next day we had delicious breakfast. After breakfast, we went to Amber fort. It is located 11 kilometers from Jaipur. Amber fort is artistic style. It has many gates. There is a very big lake called Maota. There were elephants to go to the fort. It has many Minakari work. It is constructed with red sandstones and marbles. The palace has very big rooms. The palace has Diwan-e-khas, Diwan-e- Aam, Sheesh mahal, Jai mandir. There are many peacocks at the bottom of the fort. The view from the top of the fort was beautiful. We clicked many pictures of the palace. The palace was very cool due to its construction. On the way back, we saw Hawa Mahal; it is another palace in Jaipur which is made with red and pink sandstones. It has 953 windows. It looks like a beehive. Jal mahal is another palace in Jaipur. Jaipur is called the pink city of India. By now I was feeling hungry, so we went to the restaurant and ate kachori ghevar with rabdi. It was so tasty. Then, my mother wanted to do shopping, so we went to the market. My mother bought Rajasthani bangles. We even bought a Rajasthani bedsheet. Then we went to see block printing. I was amused to see it. It was all made of natural colors. Then we went to see Jantar Mantar. Then we came back to the hotel and again ate Rajasthani thali. The next day we went to Savaii Madhopur city. Over there, we did jungle safari. The name of the jungle was ‘Ranthambore’. We sat in a canter and did the safari. The canter was camouflaged in green color. We were told by the guide not to make any noise as animal may get frightened. We saw many animals like peacock, deer, monkey and tiger. It was a lifetime experience to watch the tiger from a short distance. On the way back to hotel we saw many sunflower fields. We also visited Birla temple. This was my best experience in my life! Reward for humanity Once upon a time, there lived a man named Raghu .He was a poor ELYSIAN - ISAS man. Raghu had a family consisting of a wife and two children Raghu MIND UNLEASHED became a doctor because of his hard work and dedication. He made money for his education by selling some vegetables grown in his PG 16 garden, to the nearby market. His parents helped him in several ways to arrange money to make him a doctor. But to his misfortune, he didn’t get any job in hospitals nor had his own clinic. Raghu’s children studied in a renowned school in the village. Paying fees was a struggle. In his village, all the people are well educated and have good business or jobs. All the people despised Raghu as he was unemployed. One of the neighbours was his close relative, they were the only family to support them in the village. Raghu and his family led a painful life, as all the people would snub them. The children were taunted by classmates and teachers in school. Some days they returned home desperately and blamed their father. Raghu would get hurt on seeing his children sad. Earlier they used to seek help from their neighbour to get all-important things from the market, as they thought they could escape from the insults and whiskers from the public. But as days passed, they felt like it would be a burden for them. Beside their house, there lived another family whose child was Raghu’s son’s classmate. His parents were government employees and members of the village panchayat. One day, their son fainted suddenly at home. His parents called the doctors in the nearby town, but since it was Sunday no one answered the call. His mother took some water and sprinkled on the boy’s face but he remained unconscious. They got tensed and highly strung. Finally his father said to his wife, “There is only one way to save our one and only son, we should call Raghu” His wife disrespectfully replied “Raghu??? No way, he is a miserably poor man”. He said “we have no other way rather than calling him, as no other doctors are available today. Our son is important, we have to save our child.” His wife agreed and they both rushed to Raghu. Raghu was ready to help them. Raghu ran to the child, examined him and gave the required treatment. Raghu prescribed some medicines and told them to get it at the earliest. Finally, after a day, he was treated. They realized the value of Raghu very well and said sorry for all the hurts caused and became friends. They were guilty all the people went to him for forgiveness. Raghu and his family were very happy. After a few days, the panchayat decided to build a clinic in the village for Raghu. Raghu could not believe this and his eyes were filled with contentment and thanked all of them. That day onwards, Raghu and his family had been admired by all. - Rithika Sanjay, VII E

BE POSITIVE, THINK POSITIVE & LIVE POSITIVE ELYSIAN – ISAS “No Matter how much falls on us, we keep ploughing RISING STARS ahead. That’s the only way to keep the road clear.” PG 20 We all are very aware about the present situations that we are going through. The situation that makes us feel that we are weak, the situation that lit a fear in our minds, the situation where we often think about the beautiful and wonderful days of the past...... Yes, I am talking about COVID 19, a present situation from which it is difficult to come out... Every day all we hear is about the death of people affected by COVID 19. All these news and thoughts create a feeling of uneasiness within us. We become anxious about where the world is currently going! This in turn makes us feel depressed. But my dear friends. This is not the time to feel depressed, it is the time when we should be strong and bold to face the situation. “You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you.” We should never feel let down. Positive thinking, faith and hope does not cost any money! Having positive thoughts will help you make your day. It is the time when you should be positive and inspire others to be positive. We all have fear within us. But the word FEAR has two meanings: Forget Everything and Run OR Face Everything and Rise... The choice is yours. With faith, hope and by the grace of god this present darkness shall fade away and the beautiful sun shall shine brighter. So, friends let us be positive, think positive and live positive. Sruthy Suji, XI B

Diary Entry
18th May 2020 ELYSIAN – ISAS Thursday, 10:15pm DIARY ENTRY Dear Diary, PG 24 60 long days of my lockdown! On this same day I wrote my final Board exam. That was the last time I was out from my home. Going to school and meeting my friends seems years to me rather than months now. Today the Covid-19 cases in the country crossed 5000 and this a distress call for everyone including me. Lockdown continues so I am forced to stay at home. Today as usual, my day started at 6:45 am. While I was preparing for my online classes I looked out of my window. My attention diverted to the two birds on the AC cabinet opposite to my flat. I guess they live inside the cabinet. The Two birds were busy with their work, it seems as though they have no lockdown rules. Even the clouds are busy moving around, the wind blowing gently …all things in the nature are freely moving. But poor me caged inside I remembered that I must sit in front of the computer. Today there were many technical issues in between two classes. I felt a respect and love for teachers who find it challenging to teach in these virtual classrooms, but they do it for us, to educate us. As soon as my classes ended at 1: 10 pm … I looked out through my window to check on those birds I saw the same birds, but this time there were many flying around and pecking some food. I was totally absorbed by the sight. I do not have anything more to jot down as the rest was the usual ones. Bye diaries see you soon. NOTE: I am tearing this page from my diary and giving it for the magazine because I feel that day was quite special. The sight outside my window made me realize that while the humans are under lockdown the nature enjoys its freedom. -Jemy Sara Boben, 1X1I BB
Air ELYSIAN – ISAS 18th April, 2o2o 12:30 pm DIARY ENTRY Dear diary, Hi! I am COVID 19, the recent pandemic. I was born on 31st December 2019 in Wuhan, China. I can spread quickly among humans. First, they thought that I was SARS again, who was my ancestors. But when they examined a patient who I captured, they found me. First, they named me as the novel Coronavirus. I did not want that name, but I adjusted. Do you know that coronavirus is a large family of viruses? Some of my family members cause common cold and others deadly respiratory diseases. I made my first case on 31st December 2019 in the Wuhan Fish and Animal Live Market. I started there because I am zoonotic. That means I come from animals and get spread more by humans. I came from a pangolin which was infected by a bat disease. And then they killed the pangolin and ate it with me in it! From there I started spreading. On 11th January 2020, I killed a 61-year-old man in Wuhan - my first kill. On 13th January 2020, I had a wonderful trip to Thailand, and I made the first case outside China. On 30th January 2020, I started spreading to India into the state I do not like - my enemies – Kerala. Then I killed a Chinese man on 2nd February 2020.It was my first kill outside China. Till now 49,00,253 people are under my control. 3,23,345 people have been killed. But the sad news is that 17,10,265 people have recovered. And my mission of world domination is still on roll. -Dev Aryan, Class VII D PG 25

Bullying is becoming an increasingly prevalent ELYSIAN-ISAS problem in modern public schools. Children can be cruel and it is not uncommon for grade school students to come home in tears after someone called them a name on the bus ride home. Unfortunately, many parents do not understand the potentially damaging effects of bullying not only on a child’s confidence and self-esteem. Once bullying becomes a problem in a school it can be difficult to eradicate – in fact, you may never get rid of it entirely. There are, however, certain steps that educators and parents can take to minimize bullying in their schools. The first step in reducing bullying is to increase awareness by providing education about what bullying looks like. Bullying can occur at any grade level and it is imperative that teachers and staff have a sound definition and that they are able to identify bullying when it occurs. It is important that the focus STUDENT LIFE students who exhibit those behaviours’. is placed on the negative behaviours’ and not only on the Students must come to understand the consequences of their behaviours’ and why they are wrong. Bullying can be exhibited through physical, verbal, or social hurt. Sometimes kids have bad days and may be mean to others but that does not necessarily mean that an act of bullying occurred. In order for a behaviour to be considered “bullying,” three things must be true: • The behaviour is unwanted and aggressive • There is an imbalance of power (e.g. physical strength or popularity) • The behaviour happened more than once or there is potential for it to happen more than once Bullying can happen at any age and at any time. At the primary and secondary school levels, bullying most frequently happens in between classes, on the playground, on the bus, or online. At the college level, it can happen between classes, in dormitories, in labs, and online. Unfortunately, bullying can happen anywhere: In public or private settings, in PG 40 school, on the playground, in the home or office. … Bullying can manifest in many ways, but from a psychological perspective the main symptoms are: increased anxiety, depression, insomnia, heightened vigilance, persistent fear of re-experiencing the bullying and sharpened sensitivity to feeling or seeing others bullied. Dr Ben Michaels First step to avoid bullying is Anti-Bullying Proactive Measures Second Step focuses on empathy, emotional management, social problem solving, friendship building, and assertiveness training. It is the duty of the parents to constantly preach their children about not bullying anyone and that it is wrong. Hence, if we, as a society need to grow and develop then we have to collectively work towards discouraging the act of bullying and hence make our children feel secure. Caroline PHILIP, XI B

It is important to keep track of your time from the beginning. This avoids rushing up in the end which increases tension. Furthermore, read the instructions carefully. This is a small duty but a critical one because as soon as we get the question paper, we tend to avoid the instructions. Reading the instructions will help you to analyse the pattern and the choices within the question paper. Likewise, check the questions properly. Always read a question twice before attempting. Some questions may have two parts and you might end up in missing the other part if you read it only once. So, reading and interpreting the questions correctly is important. It is essential to keep all the necessary stationeries handy. Additionally, avoid distractions and ignore the surroundings. Last but not the least, avoid drinking too much of water before the exam, so that you can prevent taking breaks. Christina, XI B Stress. Anxiety. Depression. These are words we hear quite often around us, being students. Most of us associate these words with school tests and exams, and the pressure of living up to the expectations of people around us like parents, teachers and even fellow schoolmates. The exhaustive timetable of a student, paired with various sorts of constant peer pressure is sure to overwhelm anyone! No wonder students struggle to cope with and manage everything, at times. There's not a student in this world who has not firsthand experienced the consequences of peer pressure. Peer pressure may not always be terrible, as many of us think it to be. When a schoolmate pushes us to do our best in studies or extracurricular activities, it brings nothing but great end results. But there is another type of vicious peer pressure which forces students to involve themselves in activities against their own will or good judgement. Add to this the pressure of making your parents and teachers proud of your school performance, and it gives a perfect formula for anxiety and stress. But to every problem, there is a solution. One of the first steps to managing mental well-being as a student, is to be calm and composed whenever an important decision is to be made. One's judgement at the height of emotions is prone to be rash and irrational. In addition, more time should be invested in activities that help the thinking process. This not only offers one with a clear view of things, it also soothes the nerves. Being surrounded by nature and the simple act of inhaling fresh air is just as beneficial and provides only positive effects on the mind and body. By following these simple yet highly effective steps, students can ensure that they not only perform their best in everything but also have the ability and courage to deal with the many problems that life throws at them.
