Welcome to our Spring 2017 Newsletter You will see from this edition of the newsletter just how important ALL of your fundraising and volunteering is contributing to delivery of care to patients and their families known to the Hospice. The support you give makes a real difference to people’s lives so delightfully summarised by Chloe in her poster that you will find on page 19. There are lots of events coming up over the next few months that you, your family and friends may want to participate in to assist in the continued support and development of the Hospice. By joining one of our activities you are contributing to the funds we need to deliver care across our local community. Lindy Electronics raise funds for Butterwick Lindy Electronics have adopted Butterwick Hospice as their charity of the year for 2017 and have already started a series of fundraising events with a delicious cake bake sale in their Thornaby office. Thanks to everyone who baked and donated. Cummins, Darlington Triathlon raises £1,000 for Butterwick Huge thanks to staff at Cummins Engineering who took part in a Triathlon. Golf Club continues its amazing support Brancepeth Castle Golf Club Captains have supported Butterwick House Hospice for 12 of the last 16 years and have raised over £68,000 to support seriously ill children and their families. Peter Schofield, Captain in 2016, raised an amazing £14,876.67 towards this fantastic total. Peter was supported by Ladies Captain, Elaine Mitchell, who also supported Butterwick House. This year the Ladies Captain, Lyn Davison, has kindly chosen Butterwick House as her Charity of the Year. Thank you Indi Little Indi Calvert (5 years) from Northallerton is a very special girl who helps others. Indi’s mum Katy works for Butterwick Hospice as a complementary therapist and her dad is a keen competitive runner. Indi has taken inspiration from both of her parents by taking up running like her Dad and likes to be sponsored to help Mummy’s patients at Butterwick Hospice. Indi recently completed the Fountain’s Abbey 2 km fun run on 2nd April in just Well 16 minutes and raised done over £400 in sponsorship. Indi! Chloe’s gift Chloe Barker, 9, from Etherly Dene, came along to Butterwick Hospice with her Mum, Marie, and younger brother during the school half term holiday. Marie has Multiple Sclerosis and visits Butterwick Hospice where she receives physiotherapy and complementary therapy massages to help with her mobility. Chloe was so impressed with Butterwick she made us a poster. We love it and wanted to share it with you. Thank You Chloe! 19

Organise some carnival fun in aid of Butterwick House Butterwick House Hospice for Babies, Children and Young Adults invites you to have some carnival fun during Children’s Hospice Week 22nd – 28th May. Decorate your workplace, glam up your outfit and celebrate Children’s Hospice Week. Simple fundraising ideas like a carnival cake bake of brightly iced cakes to sell or organise a carnival karaoke competition at your local pub can raise funds. Thank you Tesco, Eston The staff and customers of Tesco Eston have been supporting Butterwick House Hospice since November 2016. In just one day of fundraising they raised £1,805 which is amazingly brilliant and generous. They have also donated clothing to be sold in our shops and have recently donated Easter Eggs for use in our blind card prizes. The staff are really proactive and we would love to say a huge thank you from the children, families and all the care team at Butterwick House. In total staff and customers at Matalan in Stockton have raised over £16,000.
