NW REGIONAL NEWSLETTER HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER It’s that time of year I remind you “Don’t fall into fall.” With the cooler evenings, leaves changing, gardens being harvested, and football in full swing, the 4 quarter th tends to pick up speed. We need our sales team and operation partners to be intentional for the next 3 months. Let the other lenders think about ghosts, pumpkin pie, and candy canes. No, I am not saying to turn out your lights on Halloween, or not plan for a wonderful Thanksgiving and joyous Christmas, just saying we need to stay focused. People are going to be buying houses right up to New Year’s, let’s plan on taking some pie from the other lenders. The Farmer’s Almanac says we could be in for another harsh winter. Like squirrels storing nuts, let’s get as many loans in the pipeline in the next 90 days so we can eat through the winter. I would like to congratulate Leon Baker, Kelly Beebe and Tera Davis, all three qualified in September for President’s Club and a trip to Maui and Barcelona. Please review current standing in this newsletter. You have three months left to reach one of the three trips, make it happen. We are anxious to start the process of nominations for the NW Region two operations spots to join us at the Grand Wailea in Maui, more to come soon. We need to make sure that we are running a winning relay. The LO takes a complete application with as many conditions as possible already in the file before handing off to the processor who perfects the file and submits to underwriting with very few condi- tions so that our closers and funders can take the baton. Speed wins, we need to be faster than our competition. Your builder and realtor relationships will love getting checks sooner than later. I know we can accomplish this because we have a very strong sales team and our operations are the best in the business. Break the finish line first and leave everyone in your dust. “Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going!” Jim Rohn -Dave Schile

EVELYN COX I want to start off and thank our Underwriting and Closing teams; you all have rolled up your sleeves and worked your tails off to accomplish our goals. I can’t thank you all enough. I want to take a moment and say Thank You to our sales/support teams for working so diligent to get us complete files, it definitely makes our jobs a little easier when the files are fully processed. September was a busy month, it seems to have just flown by (of course that week on the coast helped) with the trees starting to turn colors and the cooler mornings and of course…. Everything Pumpkin comes out. On another note, I want to stress the importance of what they call the month of October – not that it isn’t important every month – but October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Make sure you are having your annual checkups. rd Shout out to the North Idaho team – for being Idaho Housing’s Top Lending Partner in the 3 quarter – Great job gang! In September we welcomed Susan Holmes to our Regional Team; she is our Closing Manager, she comes to us from the FMC family. Seeds of Family Leadership: Empowering Others by Denis Waitley The world needs role models, instead of critics. Others know when you have their best interest at heart. You are truly successful when you can extend a strong hand to someone who is reaching out or just trying to hang on. Come through for others, and they will come through for you. People who seek attention, need all the help they can get. You know you’re a success when people tell you, “I like me best when I’m with you.” If we success without sacrifice, it’s because someone sacrificed for us. Real power comes by empowering others! Promises should not be giving lightly unless you want them lightly received. If I help you win, then I win too! SUSAN HOLMES It has been two months with Academy and you all still amaze me! I continue to be impressed by the people I work with. August was a blur of activity, with all hands on deck to make the impossible possible. And September kept it coming. But every day I saw employee after employee jump in to help each other. Answering questions, teaching, taking on files as needed, covering for absences, remembering that each loan represents a family. That kind of teamwork comes from treating each other as customers. I applaud and encourage the attitude “what can I do to make it easier for the next person that touches this file?” You have taught me a lot in these past weeks. And I have much more to learn in order to serve you well. My aim is to become the resource you need for closing and funding questions and issues. Don’t hesitate to let me know what might make your job easier. Susan

CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE: Laugh a little!!

Huge shout out to our Anchorage processor, Courtney Gabel. She has only been here a short while and without any previous experience has completely rocked it. She jumps on each file right away making sure that we remain within our contract dates and time frames. She’s outstanding dealing with our industry partners as well as our borrowers being both professional and very knowledgeable for her short time in the biz. She takes pride in her file submissions which is shown by the limited conditions we receive on an approval and makes it a point to get to the table as soon as possible. We are pretty busy right now and she hasn’t flinched. Thank you Courtney for all your effort and terrific work. A quick shout out to Fran Larsh. Seems she is on this newsletter every time and deservedly so but wanted her to know how much we appreciate her up here in the Anchorage office. We sometimes ask her to leap tall buildings with a single bound and she does it willingly and easily. From closings to getting CD’s out on a rush, a lot, , she continues to amaze us all. Thank you Fran. You are awesome. ~Lance Sweet SH OU “The Three Amigos” - Rathdrum, Idaho Branch T Left to right: Austyn Shuman, Ela Conner and Teresa Metz “We love the way Academy Mortgage allows us to help our borrowers and we are proud to work here”. ~Ela Conner, Austyn Shuman and Teresa Metz

I would like to give a shout out to Fran Larsh! She has been an amazing resource to the closers that migrated over from First Mortgage Company. She is ALWAYS happy to take our calls and questions even if there are many in one day and all with a warmth and kindness that is refreshing! She is truly an asset to this company! ~Jonathan Michalski I want to recognize a couple people who have jumped in and helped out. It doesn’t ever surprise me when Academy folks are willing to roll up the sleeves and jump in… but it’s always nice to be recognized. Marci Benjamin, Ami Browen, Heidi Williamson, and Darla Austin – THANK YOU guys for being willing to jump in on short notice to help us get through some files. You’re all awesome! A super special thank you to everyone who pulled double duty or just worked extra hard holding down the fort while we were in Africa. I can’t tell you what a blessing it is to be half a world away and not have to worry about business getting done. Tara, Natalie, Ami, Heidi, Amy, Chealee, Brandi, Lacie, Modesty, Darla, Laurie -Ev-Freaking-COX! You guys are all the best in the business. I’d stack you up against any other group in the company!!!! Thanks for everything you guys do. Nobody would be successful without you guys. ~Jason Oswald I would like to say the biggest thank you to the amazing Angela Bowden for going above and beyond to help us transition from FMC to Academy while we were in the middle of trying to close more than 20 loans and were frantically trying to navigate our way through the Academy systems and processes. Multiple times a day she would drop whatever she was doing to answer our marketing questions and help us in a heartbeat – she is a ROCK STAR! We couldn’t have transitioned as well as we did without her! Thank you, Angie – from the entire Leon Baker Team! We appreciate you! ~Vicki Thomas - New Nampa, Idaho Branch

Our team transitioned with First Mortgage Company August 1 , and our experience since st has been nothing short of Astounding! We knew August would be our best month, and on August 1 when we heard that we st needed to re-create all of the loan files, we knew we had our work cut out for us. My team was and is so very impressive, and facing the darkness ahead, did not bolt for the door, an easier option, or hide from the great challenge ahead of us. They geared up, buckled in, and began to slay! Hat’s off to Sandi, Dena, Kris, and Vicki. YOU are the Best of the Best! Then, Academy showed up. Not one person said, “Hey, let me know if I can be helpful”… not one. What they did instead…was show up! Rhonda, Kelly, Ev, Whitney, and Dave…they were in my office making things happen! Con- verting files, solving problems, maneuvering through the Academy systems for us way more efficiently than we could have hoped for. Solutions oriented people doing all they could to help us! And Kelly Beebe…she must never sleep! I’m getting emails back from her at 11:45 at night or even 12:30 in the morning, and then Kris my Processor getting answers from her at 7:00 in the morning the next day…Wow! I hope you don’t do that often, but in a time of need…so impressive. Thank you! It’s not all about getting business done, though, it’s about the caring heart with which they did it. Always happy to help, always happy to take pressure off, and always smiling while doing it. So you tell me…what else could the Academy Family have done to welcome us? I just can’t think of anything. Truth be told…if I could…I’m sure someone would find a way to get it done. Thank you so very much! I know that the Lord has blessed our team to be a part of this group of people. We’re grateful. May God Bless You and YOUR Family today. ~Leon Baker

I want to thank Brandi, Christy and Modesty in the closing department for always being so happy to help out. They always have a great attitude and are willing to lend a hand and teach this new girl something! Couldn’t do it without you ladies!!! ~Manesseh, Spokane office “Happy Anniversary to my work wife Bonnie Maxwell! I can’t believe it’s been four years! I am so lucky to have you on the team! Happy Anniversary!” “Congratulations to Brett and Laura LaHorgue on your beautiful wedding! I am so honored to have been a part of your big day! Best of luck on this new chapter in your life!” “A huge thank you to Jeanne and Casja! You two ladies do so much great work on our files and I can’t thank you enough for all that you do! A huge thank you to both of you ladies!” ~Jennifer Bender Shout Out to Gabrielle, Gretchen, Johnathon and Stacey! WE really appreciate you jumping in at month end and making it happen. Thank you so much!! Heidi Williamson, you have some serious baking skills. We love you and your treats!! Modesty, Thank you for being awesome and taking care of my loans while I was on vacation. I am so glad you are a part of our team! ~Brandi Albers

I would like to give a Shout Out to Ann Schnibbe! She is my rock in the processing world and without her I would be totally lost. ~Jenna Provost I’d like to give a shout out to the NW Closing Dept it’s a privilege to work with such an excellent group of professionals! ~Susan Holmes A quick shout out to all of the new Academy family members that joined us recently. Now that we’re a couple of months into their transition and passed the initial craziness of it all, we’re seeing some amazing growth and impressive opportunities happening. I’ve been very impressed with each loan officer and their commitment to their clients. As well, Carole Bateman, Cindy Crow, and Marcie Witt (processors) have dug in, figured it out, and are now increasing their efficiency every day! Nice work! From experience, it’s not an easy thing to make a transition to a new company’s platform, systems, people, etc. It hurts a bit, even when the new platform is an improvement. Each of you have displayed amazing resilience and we’re excited to have each of you as part of our Academy family. I want to recognize Laurie Funston, who is an inspiration for each of us! I’d take her on my team, anywhere, anytime, no matter what. The ability that she has to get things done, even though she’s feeling much less than 100% is nothing short of amazing! She’s a rock star, plain & simple! A huge thanks to my team (Ami Browen, Heidi Williamson, & Darla Austin) for making September our biggest month of the year, even though I was gone for half of it! I promise I won’t do that to you again! ;-) ~Dave Perry HUGE shout out to Kelly, Ev, Fran & Mike for helping me so much to wrap up a nightmare file!!! You all are so appreciated!! ~Whittney Curran

So thankful for the comradery in our Legacy Group office! A daily display of true teamwork and we really do take care of each other. It’s pretty beautiful!! So blessed. <3 ~Amy Hobbing I would like to Shout out to: CRAIG BALLHAGEN - for helping me run doc’s and grab special drinks next door occasionally! (You ROCK!) PEARL SMITH – for covering the Front Desk both whenever, and always in case of Emergencies! (YOU ARE THE BOMB!) ~Laura Alexander I would like to thank Kelly Beebe for being a great supportive manager. She is wise and offers the best counseling to help make things better. I feel she truly cares about each and every one of us. Even when she is slammed she take the time to help and/or offer suggestions. Thank you Kelly!!! ~Paulette Martinez I would like to give a shout out to Gabi Rhoades from the Nampa branch. The last day of the month we had a number of closers / funders called away on family emergencies and she was left with the bulk of the Boise area files to fund. She remained positive and managed to fund every single file without incident. It was literally the biggest funding load I have seen in many years in the Mortgage Industry. Considering that she is a former First Mortgage Company Employee and that this was literally her 2 month with Academy, I am incredibly proud of her willingness to help and nd team-player mentality! ~Jonathan Michalski The most important employee in our offices is the one who greets our clients and the public when they walk through the front door! That employee in our office is Monica Pilot and SHE IS THE BEST. She always has a smile, warms right up to people and does all she can to make them feel welcome! We are blessed by YOU and all YOU do, Monica Pilot! Thank YOU and God bless YOU! ~Carolyn Summerton
