Doug Roberts Golf Tip Short Range High Pitch ShotLast week we discussed the short range medium pitch shot. During that shot, we used thenormal amount of loft already available in our club. This week we will put a bit more loft on theshot by opening the face slightly at setup. “Opening” the face is one basic way to add more loftto the short pitch. This is a fun shot which delivers more height and more spin with minimal adjustment to yourswing. Begin by selecting your most lofted wedge. The adjustment for this higher shot is inyour setup so set the clubface on the ground behind the ball, aimed directly at yourtarget. Now, dial the clubface open slightly (add some loft) and then place your hands on thegrip. Now just swing like it's a normal pitch shot! (There's no need to try and get under the balland lift it. Contact the ball at the normal low point of your swing. The added loft of the clubface will launch it up into the air for you.) Your ball should fly higher and straight. If it fliesslightly to the right, then you may need to “open” your stance slightly by aiming a few feet to theleft. The swing length you use will depend upon how far you need the ball to fly. Gain confidencefirst with a casual “gravity-like” speed, then that will open the door to swing with a bit more zipthrough the ball for increased back spin possibilities. “Ask Andrew”Question: Does the Entrada golf shop accept used clubs for trade in?Answer: Yes the golf shop has an account with the PGA trade in network. Members can bringused clubs into the golf shop and we will provide you with a trade in value. If you decide to tradein the clubs we will ship them for you. Once the PGA receives your clubs they will issue a checkto Entrada (2-3 week process) and we will put that money on your golf shop credit account touse for future purchases. Please contact the golf shop if you have any questions.New Fairway and Green Merchandise has arrived!!

Always cleanyour machines and cardio equipment whenfinished (never leave it sweaty for someone toclean).Do not make load or extreme noises whentraining -Unnecessary noises are distractionsto others during their workouts. Aeration and topdressing of greens is almost complete. In the upcoming days the tees will be finished and topdressing will take place on landing areas andapproaches. With little doubt there is always damage from aeration but the long term benefits of aeration and topdressing are well documented. One mainbenefit from aeration and topdressing is increasing microbial activity in our adobe clay soils. Microbial activity releases nutrients from the soil and assists with creating a more porous physical soil structure, which along with aeration and topdressing adds to the overall oxygen level in the soil. Added oxygen allows roots and grass to grow healthier.
