TEE TIME... The staff has finished leveling and expanding the tee on #16. Sod is being installed and we’ll open the tee as soon as we’re comfortable with the sod being stable. The tee was expanded to give added tee positions and add to the variety of shots from this particular tee. The tee will also be landscaped withlava, blending it with the surrounding landscape. I believe this is a huge improvement andwill be a welcome addition to the tees already completed in the lava. The rest of the lavatees will be completed in the fall of 2015.The sand sage removed on #14 tee will be replaced with turf. This turf addition will beseeded with bluegrass, tall fescue, and ryegrass. The goal of this project is to first clean upthe area and increase the view from the tee and second is to give the tee complex and theentire hole a finished look. Without the turf addition the red tee and decent look unfinished. We hope that this addition opens up the line of play and keeps a clean appearance for yearsto come.

Golf Simpified “Ask Andrew”Question-What are some common course etiquette rules I should adhere to everyday?Answer-Out of respect and courtesy to your fellow members and golfers at every course there areseveral course etiquette rules you should strive to live by. These simple acts will insure a betterexperience for everyone. A general rule you should follow is to leave the course in as good or bettershape than you found it.- Always repair your ball mark and one other ball mark on the green.- Always fill your divot with sand and seed mixture.- Always pick up your tees on tee boxes.- Never leave sunflower seeds, cigarette butts, or debris on the course.- Always rake the bunker.- Repair any spike or scuff marks. Doug Roberts Golf Tip-Uneven Lies “Uphill Shot” When faced with an uphill shot, the player needs to first adjust their club selection to a longer club dependent upon the severity of the slope. A general starting point is: mild slope=1 club longer, moderate slope=2 clubs longer, severe slope=3 clubs longer. To ensure a more solid contact on an uphill shot, the player needs to adjust their hips and shoulder lines to be parallel or level to the degree of the uphill slope. There will be more pressure in the downhill foot. To help with alignment, the player should move their uphill foot slightly out of the way. This allows the knee line to remain parallel to the target line and ensures more room to swing the club on the correct plane. Ball position may be different for each player depending upon where the low point happens for each player. To find your low point, take a practice swing and note where your swing bottoms out. Position the ball such that it will be contacted before the low point of your swing occurs. Generally, this should be in line with your sternum or in balance with where your center of mass is through impact. Lastly, try a ¾ length swing. This will make it easier to maintain your balance as you play this recovery shot from the uphill slope.
