Grandparent’s Day

New Primary School Staff At the beginning of this year, we welcomed three new phenomenal teachers to the St Dominics family. Mrs Russell attended St. Dominic’s and has dreamt of working in our primary school for years. Her experience in special needs education will enrich the foundation phase for years to come. She has been involved in the swimming department this year and has loved every one of her Grade 1 girls as if they were her own. Mrs Spellas has worked in government education as Grade head and teacher and has brought her expertise and passion with her to St. Dominic’s. She has immersed herself in the life of the school, bringing educational value to the cha-cha slide and much more! Mrs Spellas has also been involved in chess and will assist Mrs Adair with coding and robotics in 2023. Her Grade 2 girls have absolutely loved being in Mrs Spellas’ class.

Miss Black is a St. Dominic’s alumni, spending her entire school career at St. Dominic's. Her love for the school, its traditions, and ethos are remarkable. She has embraced her role as a Grade 7 Maths teacher and works tirelessly to ensure that each child in her class gets individual attention. Miss Black is an avid runner and has taken on cross country, inspiring the girls to enjoy the sport in the Primary school. Her faith and kindness have been instilled in the girls she has taught this year. Mrs Fisher, although not new to St. Dominic’s, was appointed Deputy Principal of Discipline in January. Mrs Fisher has worked tirelessly this year, ensuring that the needs of every little girl have been met, counselling, advising, and caring for each child and consulting any issues with professionalism and grace. Mrs Fisher, has also enjoyed teaching remedial lessons this year, implementing a rigorous remedial program which has benefitted many of our girls. She has been able to delve into her passion and put her Honours in Remedial Education to effective use. I wish her success in this role and know that together with Mrs. Adair (Deputy Principal of Academic administration) and Mrs Van Zyl (Principal of the Primary School 2023), St Dominic’s Primary School will continue to flourish! To you all, I hope that your first year at St. Dominic’s has been an amazing journey, welcome, once more to the family, I know that you will all make significant contributions to the education of every little girl in your care. Mrs Bradbury
