Time travel – A magical I wish to experience one day. It's said that whatever we wish, it would come to us someday. The day had come and one of my wishes was granted. It was a cold winter day. I heard something weird. I went out of my home to explore. There is a dilapidated place near my home. The sound had come from there. Old things used to be there. There I saw a weird machine. It had a seat, an antenna and a screen and lots of buttons. It was rusty, and it frightened me. But somehow, I got interested in it and I dusted it. I became curious and started pressing the buttons. By now my friends Raphael and Melvin had also joined me. There was a big green button, and we pressed it. Suddenly the machine came to life. We got terrified. But before we could do something, we started flying. On the screen, years n were being displayed, and it was decreasing order and we could see some changes below. Then we understood we are travelling backwards in time! It was amazing! It was quite interesting to see the changes that were happening on the Earth when we travelled back in time. We went to 65 billion years ago. The world of dinosaurs dawned on us.
There were mountains, volcanic activities, thick forests, enormous trees and dinosaurs. They were everywhere, big and small. It was like a huge mountain moving. They were shouting, and it looked like we were in a total chaos. It took some time for us to understand the situation. It baffled us. We wanted to get out of that place as soon as possible. We pressed a button, and we started moving in the forward direction. As we were heading back , we saw a vast temple. We at once recognized it to be the Bragatheswara Temple in Tanjore. It overwhelmed us. We wanted to get down and have a look. We saw the great king Raja Raja Chola. He was so humble, and it was a sight to behold. We had a great time talking to everyone over there. We were astonished at their intelligence; they seemed to be more knowledgeable than us. We gifted the Tanjore dancing doll. We started our journey back. I heard someone calling me. It was my mother. Then I opened my eyes. I understood everything was a big dream. I was shocked it was so real. Then I explained to my mother and my friends about my dream. It fascinated them. One day I hope this dream of mine will come true. - Dheeksha Balamurugan, IV–B
The day I became One day, when I woke up, I looked at my hands and suddenly, I found I was invisible! I screamed \"AAAAAAAAAA!!\". My parents rushed into the room and found I was missing but I was in the room invisible. It worried my parents. Suddenly, they heard a sound they went to the dining room and saw me eating some grapes. They didn’t see me but they saw the grapes moving. They thought I was a ghost and picked a few things to attack me. The materials were the ghost gun, ghost glasses, flour, and a cloth. They wore the ghost glasses but they couldn't see me. They pointed the ghost gun but they couldn’t feel me. I said, \"Mummy, Daddy I am invisible so you can’t see me. Sprinkle the flour over me\". And when they did so, I was visible to my parents. They were happy. and I informed them that \"Remember, if you pour water on me, I will become invisible again.\" My parents agreed and took good care of me that day. Next day was like any other day. Krithi Shree (class- IV B)
One day, if I become invisible, first I would thank God for giving me this opportunity. If I become invisible, like superheroes in the movies, I would help the needy people. I would change the world to make it a better place. Being invisible will give me the freedom to go anywhere, do anything, and see everything and no one can notice me. I would visit all the famous places in the world. I would feel like a genie, and I would fulfill all my wishes. If I am invisible I will miss my family, parents, teachers, friends, and relatives. My parents would be worried because of my absence. I would feel very lonely because I won’t be able to speak to my friends. The day I became Invisible No one would listen to my ideas and care for me. I know ,‘Great power comes with great responsibility’ so the power should be handled with care. I promise to use my power only for the right reason. M. Keerthana IV-C
Yesterday in my dream, I found myself in a fort. There were so many rooms. I was confused because there were room numbers like A1, A2, and A3 etc I went to room number A1 and there I … … found gold coins and some objects like a Genie Lamp. I rubbed the lamp, a genie came out, I shouted “help, help...” The Genie asked, “What is your name, my child?” I replied “My name is Lakshitha”. “Very nice name..Can we both be best friends?” he said. I replied “Yes, of course”. Then Genie asked me, “If you have any wishes, please tell me. I will fulfill it.” I said,“I want wings. With the wings, I want to fly and go to space”. This is my first wish. My second wish is that I should get the energy to help Mother Nature, to stop storms and to distribute rainwater appropriately to all the living beings. And my last wish is “I want to go back to the era where there were no mobile phones, buildings and computers”. “Can you fulfill my wishes GENIE?” … By, S.K.Lakshitha IV-D
Cartoon TV serials VS Book reading Hello, I am Athirai. P, IV-A. Glad to meet you all through this article. I was a bit confused to choose from the topics because all the topics were interesting. Then I thought ,why don’t I select something new? In this pandemic situation, we often hear our parents tell us \" shut off the TV … read some storybooks\" . I used to wonder what difference it makes. Now here comes my topic \"Cartoon TV serials vs Book reading\". TV has become an unavoidable thing in our daily life. There ’s not a single day that goes by without watching TV. We children get fascinated with Chhota Bheem’s stunt, shin Chan's naughtiness, and Dora’s adventure. We all get so much carried away by these characters. But is it real? Is this possible in real life? Is this teaching us anything? Thinking about that, Well, the answer is NO. Of course, I will argue that I am learning some new words, new things etc., but all these dubbed serials do not have any nativity, any words that can be used in daily life, any adventure practically possible for the kids to do. But still, we like to see. Coming to book reading... Books what we read too has a lot of impossible things like lion talking, a man able to defeat 50 people etc. but I have to admit that it helps us to increase our vocabulary, our reading skill, our imaginary skills, etc. Well again, while seeing TV we are stuck up with the ideas of the cartoonists’ and we believe in whatever they tell. Well, that's bad. It is not possible to avoid seeing TV completely, but thinking about all this, I can reduce my TV time and spend more time in reading books. Hope you all will do the same
TIME TRAVEL One day we planned to go for a picnic. When we were enjoying ourselves with friends, our eyes went to an abandoned science lab. We entered the science lab. We saw a machine. When we went closer to the engine, the lab trembled. At the door, we saw there were trees. I asked my friend, “How is that trees are in the science lab?” Then my friend said, ‘I think this lab is a time machine, so it has brought us to the past’. Suddenly we felt an earthquake, and then I said ‘Ahh, look there. That is Brachiosaurs. “Why are they running?” Another friend said,“see behind the Brachiosaurs. There is a T-Rex and it is chasing it to eat”. While another friend said, “ok then we will run, or else we will die.” I replied, “agree with you. We will run”. We ran as fast as we could. After running miles, I fainted. Suddenly I heard a strange sound. When we looked up, we saw a pteranodon. We ran to the nearby bushes and stayed there for a while till the dinosaur left. After some time, the dinosaur went from there. I said, “we will go to the time machine and go back to our world.” All my friends said “ok”. We ran to the time machine [lab]. When we reached the lab, the lab shook again. After all the drama, when I opened the door we returned to our camp house. S.KRITHIK 4-E
We had been to many places during our holidays but our Visit to Andaman is the best. I liked the place very much. And got to know more information on the importance of our freedom. During our summer holidays in 2019, I Visited Andaman. It was a 5 day trip with my family and family friends. We joined our friends in Chennai, and from there we flew to Port Blair, the capital of Andaman. I was quite excited about the flight travel over the oceans and I was a bit afraid. The travel time was about two hours. We landed in Port Blair by 11.00 AM. Small Andaman Airport The Vír Savarkar International Airport is a tiny one. It took us only a few minutes to get out, and we were finally at Port Blair. After lunch, we went to the most important and historical place in Andaman, the ‘Cellular Jail’ Cellular Jail Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar Islands stands as a dark memory of the British rule in India.. This is the most dreaded colonial prison on this remote island used by the British. This jail is also referred to as Kala Pani (where ‘Kala’ means ‘death’ or ‘time’ and ‘Pani’ means ‘water’ in Sanskrit) witnessed. The most dreadful punishments are imposed on prisoners. India’s struggle for independence saw eminent freedom fighters like Batukeshwar Dutt and Veer Savarkar. They had been enslaved in this jail. We spent about 4 hours in this Jail. Visit to this prison gave me a clear understanding of how our leaders had struggled for independence and how the deadly punishments were executed in this jail. I really feel proud to be an Indian and have a great respect for our leaders . I saw the prison in which Vír Savarkar was jailed and we also saw the places and the kinds of punishments given to them. My parents explained about our independence and helped me to get more knowledge about the sufferings our great leaders had undergone.
We took part in the light show of the Cellular Jail, which happens in the evening hours. The light show explained the complete history of this magnificent monument. I felt blessed for having got this chance of visiting such a great place. Every Indian should visit this place at least once to cherish freedom. Ross Island The very next day we visited Ross Island.Ross Island was the capital of Andaman during the British period, now it is in ruins. We went to this island in a boat. There we could see ruins of a church, a tennis court, a bakery, etc. The island was crowded with Red Cheeked Bulbuls, and there were deer too. After Ross Island, we travelled in Dolphins boats, and did sea walking where we could see the corals and fishes. The Limestone Caves near Baratang The next morning we had an early wake-up call around 4:00 am as we planned to go to the limestone caves. The road passes through the Jarawa Tribes Reserve Area and the vehicles can move only in a convoy escorted by the police. The Jarawa people do not come near the road when there is a convoy of vehicles . No vehicles can make an unscheduled stop; they have to drive at a prescribed speed, and it is strictly a no-photography zone. The road has been a controversial Project. We reached Baratang and boarded a really crowded ferry. The ferry also carries buses and cars. The big ferry dropped us near motorboats that finally took us to the limestone caves. The boat passes through a canopy of mangrove trees to reach the jetty. One has to walk for a few kilometres to reach the caves. It was a pleasant flat walk for me but it for sure was a hot day. The boatman who brings you to the cave also doubles up as the guide. By the time we got back to the boarding point of our bus, it was late. We just managed to make it to the 12:30 pm convoy. All of us were bone tired when we got back and after an early dinner, the bed looked pretty inviting.
The Radhanagar Beach, Havelock Next day we took a cruise to Havelock, which takes 1.5 hours to reach Havelock. The Radhanagar beach had very good and clear waters. We enjoyed it a lot in the seashore. We spent about an hour there, enjoyed the sea waves and played a lot. This is one of the best beaches I have ever visited. Chidiya Tapu The last day of our trip was to Chidiya Tapu. Chidiya Tapu is mainly popular for its wide range of birds and is a haven for birdwatchers. We walked about 3 kms and reached the top to see the bird’s view. This was the best and calm place I have ever seen. I loved the place very much. We took a rest for 30 mins, had our breakfast and got back. The End of the Trip The days had gone by so quickly and we had to set back to our home. I always cherish the days in Andaman. I had new learnings and experience, got to see a land of India little far away. I want to visit it again. View of Andaman Island from the plane

My In 10 Years In 10 years, I think I would be a busy woman, who would be working. I believe that I would be a pilot because at present my ambition is to become a pilot and serve the nation. I have an Air Force Academy in my locality, called ‘The Sulur Air Force Academy’. I think I will be trained there. My parents always support me in all my decisions. They give me freedom to do everything I want to. - Preethika. C V 5B
