2021 CENTRAL VISAYAS HEALTH RESEARCH & INNOVATION CONFERENCE CALL FOR PAPER The annual Central Visayas Health Research and Innovation Conference (CVHRIC) is an event of recognition of the researches done by Region 7 researchers. It is an avenue for disseminating the research outputs relevant to planning, decision-making, and policy development to the stakeholders. The 6th Central Visayas Health Research and Innovation Conference (CVHRIC) Call for Paper is now open with the theme: “New Normal to New Future: Research and Innovations towards Universal Health Care.” The virtual conference will be on July 14-16, 2021. Central Visayas Consortium for Health Research and Development (CVCHRD) member institution researchers are invited to submit their research papers relevant to the theme. Podium presentations will cover both the professional and student categories of studies on experimental, non-experimental, and qualitative research papers. Each member institution is allowed to submit entries for the following: A. Professional category One (1) entry for Experimental research One (1) entry for Non-experimental research One (1) entry for Qualitative research B. Student category One (1) entry for Experimental research One (1) entry for Non-experimental research One (1) entry for Qualitative research Researchers are invited to submit their entry through this link https://forms.gle/anFdb14Am7DVfVFm8 not later than June 7, 2021. The following documents must be attached: 1. Abstract 2. Full paper 3. Endorsement letter of the Head/President of the institution 4. Applicable Clearances/Permit Please see the attached files for the templates of the abstract, full paper, and endorsement letter. Abstract of the accepted papers will appear in the 6th Central Visayas Health Research and Innovation Conference (CVHRIC) book of abstracts. All submitted

entries will be subjected to a double-blind review. The authors of the accepted entries will be electronically notified by June 15, 2021. Presenters of the accepted entries must submit an e-copy of the PowerPoint presentation on or before July 2, 2021. Automatic disqualification will be given to entries with incomplete submission and non-compliance of the given templates. For inquiries, please contact DOST-CVCHRD through this mobile number 417-2325 or this email address [email protected]. RESEARCH PODIUM PRESENTATION Guidelines for Full Paper Submissions 1. Research must be aligned with the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA) and/or Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA). 2. Each institution may submit a maximum of three (3) research papers for each entry:  Professional Category (1 Experimental, 1 Non-Experimental, 1 Qualitative) - any research conducted by a professional researcher that is not a pre- requisite to any academic requirement/degree  Student Category (1 Experimental, 1 Non-Experimental, 1 Qualitative) - any research conducted by a student researcher (undergraduate and graduate level) as a pre-requisite to any academic requirement/degree 3. The following documents are required: One (1) electronic copy of the completed research paper in PDF format. The paper must include:  Abstract (300 - 350 words)  Title  Author(s) names and affiliation  Author(s) email addresses Contents must include:  Introduction  Significance of the Study  Review of Related Literature  Objectives  Methodology  Results and Discussions (including tables and figures)

 Conclusions and Implications  References (APA 7th edition)  Word count Word limit:  Quantitative: 6,000 - 8,000 words  Qualitative: 8,000 - 10,000 words Signed endorsement letter from the head/president of the institution using the official letterhead of the institution Applicable research authorization/clearance/permit:  For Studies that involved human subjects: Ethics Clearance and, if applicable National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) permit  For studies that used biological materials where genetic manipulation is involved or the introduction of exotic or imported plants, microorganisms, or animals: Biosafety permit  For studies conducted on animals: Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) Clearance/Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) authorization  For studies that covered the protected areas of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR): Gratuitous Permit  For studies with ethics clearance exemption, please provide a Certificate of Exemption. 4. The completed paper including abstracts should be submitted on or before June 7, 2021 (Monday), through this link: https://forms.gle/anFdb14Am7DVfVFm8 in PDF. 5. Automatic disqualification will be given to entries with incomplete submission and non-compliance with the given templates. 6. Authors will be notified by electronic mail if the paper is qualified by June 15, 2021 (Tuesday). Notifications will be sent only to the corresponding author(s). ELIGIBILITY 1. The research paper should be authored by a researcher from the member institution of the consortium. Professional papers must be authored by professionals only and student papers must be authored by students only, not both. 2. The research paper should be a completed research project within the last 3 years, but not featured and/or presented in the previous PNHRS fora and other national or international symposiums, conferences, etc. 3. The research paper must not be published in any scientific journals.

SCREENING PROCESS 1. The screening committee will conduct a review of submitted entries to check the eligibility, completeness of required documents, and technical and ethical soundness of the research project. 2. The qualified research projects will be selected based on the following set of criteria: Originality of idea and appropriateness of methodology 30% Potential for the creation of new or advancement of knowledge and evidence of the benefit to the areas covered by the research 20% Quality of technical paper (quality of submitted technical report including abstract) 30% The anticipated outputs, outcomes and impacts of the proposed research, including potential contribution to the economy and social benefits 20% TOTAL 100% CONTEST PROPER 1. The Podium Presentation will be on July 15, 2021. AM – Professional PM - Student 2. The attire of the researchers must be smart casual or formal. 3. The researchers must be in the venue/registered (virtual) 30 minutes before the start of the program. 3. The researchers are to submit an electronic copy of their presentation slides (PowerPoint) to CVCHRD (email: [email protected]) on or before July 2, 2021 (Friday). 4. The PowerPoint presentation must have a maximum number of 10 slides.

5. Researches with multiple authors shall only choose ONE representative to present their paper. Papers under the student category shall be presented by the student and not by a faculty adviser. PAPER PRESENTATION MECHANICS 1. Each presenter is allotted 15 minutes to present their paper. The format of the presentation will be as follows: • Title • Significance of the Study • Objectives of the Study • Review of Related Literature • Methodology • Results • Conclusion • Recommendation 2. During the presentation of the paper, the researcher should refrain from mentioning and/or acknowledging information, which would reveal the identity of the institution he/she represents. 3. Following each presentation, 10 minutes will be allotted for questions and discussions. One after the other, each member of the panel of judges will be allowed five (5) minute question-and-answer time with the researcher. 4. The decision of the Panel of Judges shall be final and unappealable. The scorecards or rating sheets are considered personal notes of the Panel of Judges and are not for public scrutiny and any part of it shall not be given to any contestant or requesting party. 5. There will be three winners for each subcategory (1st, 2nd and 3rd Place) which will be announced during the Awarding Ceremonies. The winners and finalists shall receive cash awards and incentives and certificates of recognition.
