'Ava o Feiloa'iga Monday, June 27th, 2022 Cultural Exhibition, Part IAso Gafua, Iuni 27, 2022 First Annual FaaSamoa Cultural Festival: \"O le 'Ava o Feiloa'iga\" Welcoming Ceremony for Distinguished Guests \"O le 'ava o feiloa'iga\" ceremony is one the most important customs of the Samoa Islands. It is a solemn ritual in which a ceremonial beverage is shared to mark important occasions in Samoa society. ʻThe ava ceremony within Samoan culture retains the same ritual pattern with slight variations depending on the parties involved and the occasion. It always includes speeches and oratory and the formal drinking of 'ava, including women if they are part of the ceremony, with special attention paid to precedence in drinking order. One of the most important occasions for the 'Ava ceremony is during the bestowal of matai chiefly titles. The 'Ava ceremony will be opened to the general public to witness, and the participants of the ceremony are by invitation only. The Honorary Delegates of Samoa will present an official endorsement Memorandum from the Independent State of Samoa's Government to officiate our Alaska Samoan Community's services within the great state of Alaska. This State Address Assembly meeting is open to our Samoan Citizens living in the state of Alaska to be recognized and meet and greet our Samoan Delegates. The US Territory of American Samoa's Address Assembly In honor of our American Samoa Delegates' presence to celebrate our FaaSamoa Cultural Festival, Honorary Delegates of the US Territory of American Samoa will be presenting an official endorsement from the Government of American Samoa to our American Samoan community living in Alaska. This Territory Address Assembly meeting is open to the American Samoan community to be recognized and meet and greet our American Samoa Officials.
