Sriwijaya     will take several additional     Boeing 737-800s in 2016 en-     abling it to transfer smaller 737-     500s to Nam which will be used     to open new secondary bases     and compete against the ex-     panding regional operations     of Garuda and Lion.     Privately owned Sriwijaya has     emerged as Indonesia’s third     largest airline group, well be-     hind Garuda and Lion but     ahead of AirAsia. As was the                                                      case with Hong Kong, the focus will                                                      be on existing Jetstar Group destina-                                                      tions. This is a sensible approach as                                                      it enables Jetstar Pacific to leverage                                                      the Jetstar Group, reducing the tradi-                                                      tional risk associated with launching                                                      new international routes, and it aids in                                                      Jetstar’s overall connect the dots net-                                                      work strategy.                                                      Jetstar Pacific also has been evalu-                                                      ating Bali, a destination not currently                                                      served nonstop from Vietnam but with                                                      tremendous potential.
