WHAT IS A CONTINENT? (form)A continent is a large solid area of land. Some important facts about the continents: There is really only one World Ocean; for convenience, most geographers divide it into four: Atlantic, Pacific, Arctic, and Indian. The richest country is Qatar located in Asia. The other richest countries are Luxembourg and Singapore. The poorest countries are Malawi, Burundi and Central African Republic. Africa is considered the continent with the poorest countries in the world. At last count, there are 193 independent countries. The subtropical Sahara is the largest hot desert at 3.5 million square miles.
