Facial expressions occur voluntary and involuntary when one or more our 43 facial muscless show movement. ey are a rich source of non-verbal com- munication and display a vast amount of emotional and cognitive informa- tion. seven universal microexpres- sions: disgust, anger, fear, sadness, happiness, surprise and contempt. 1

e face is the best indicator of a per- son’s emotions. Facial expressions can display personal emotions and indi- cate an individual’s intentions within a social situation. e human face is extremely expressive, able to convey countless emotions with- out saying a word. 2
