ENGINEERING POST April 2022 Construction of Red line BRT underway The Sindh government has commenced construction work on the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. According to well-informed sources in the first phase of construction, the route from Tank Chowk near Malir Halt to Safoora Chowrangi will be completed. The Red Line BRT will span an area of ap- proximately 26 km from Safoora to Tower. Conservative surveys suggest that it is ex- pected that this service once completed will provide convenience to 625,000 passengers in one day. The route of the 26-kilometer BRT Red Line project will connect Model Colony to Johar Complex en route Jinnah Avenue and Malir Cantt while the buses will run through University Road, Hassan Square and Nu- maish roundabout. 50
