This year carries an extra special meaning: the first ever Miss Tourism International was held in Kuching, Sarawak in 1994. Precisely for that reason, this year’s grand final will return to the Land of Hornbills. Be it for the culture, heritage and delicious food (as we Malaysians are known for), there’s plenty more to experience. THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Dear National Directors/Delegates, Welcome to the First Issue of our Miss Tourism International Newsletter ‘Glitz & Glamour’, keeping you informed of our latest Pageantry News. This will be a monthly issue and digitally printed every 7th day of the month. As we are celebrating our Miss Tourism International ‘Silver Jubilee’ this year, we have planned many exciting activities in conjunction with the MTI World Final. This issue, we have featured the World Final Venue, the launching of our first Miss Tourism International Pageants NFT & the ‘Cats of the World’ photography contest. Glitz & Glamour APRIL ISSUE - VOL.1 1994 1ST Miss Tourism International World Final ~ Held in Kuching, Sarawak ~ It all began in 1994, when pageant extraordinaire, President and Owner Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi first landed in Kuching, Sarawak, with a big splash. A glamorous event was coming to town - international delegates flew in to the Land of Hornbills to participate in pageant week, leading up to the World Final. Also participating was the Malaysian representative, Datin Emylia Rosnaida, who went on to bag the 1st Runner-Up title. The winning title went to Michelle Leigh Holmes of Australia. Since then, the title has been hosted in Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur, while promoting Tourism, Culture & Friendship. This year, back to celebrate the Silver Jubilee, delegates from around the world will spend two weeks touring around Sarawak, to visit iconic landmarks, experience the rich culture and local food. Glitz & Glamour APRIL ISSUE - VOL.1 22.02.2022 Bringing The World to Sarawak 25TH MISS TOURISM INTERNATIONAL WORLD FINAL ~ OFFICIAL LAUNCHING CEREMONY ~ Celebrating a 25 year legacy, Miss Tourism International is headed back to the Land of Hornbills, the second time since the first ever World Final in 1994, Kuching, Sarawak. From 11 November till 27 November, delegates from across the world will tour around the state, capturing the sights and sounds of Sarawak, cultural activities, charity visits and sponsor events. On 25 November 2022, 7 new Miss Tourism International title winners will be crowned. Marking the collaboration between YAST Group, franchise holder D’Touch International and Quantum Metal, this year’s MTI will introduce the first ever Non-Fungible Token (NFT) backed by Quantum Metal Gold. These collectibles will feature the beauties’ portrait and will be made available to the world. The event will also witness the launching of the Miss Tourism International Pageant Foundation. What’s more, these photos will be showcased in Sarawak’s Cat Museum, a fitting exhibition for the landmark.
