There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace…God has made everything beautiful in its time. Article in the Susquehanna LINK - September 2017 – page 10 Youth MANNA concert benefits Imagine No MalariaBy Pastor Michael Fotta, Lake Como/Shehawken UMCs In a matter of hours an empty field was transformed: two stages, food vendors, 500 plus chairs, sound booth, and an army of volunteerswaiting to welcome arriving guests. The morning’s lectionary energizedall who were gathered to listen to God’s word and gave pause to what wewere doing. “The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someonetook and sowed in the field.” (Matthew 13:31) Here we were, two smallcountry churches about to host a free concert that would include DavidDunn, Hannah Kerr, and Jordan Feliz. On a typical Sunday you would find around 40 to 50 congregants inLake Como and Shehawken UMCs; the Lake Como youth group is a forceof 30 comprising preschoolers to high school seniors. Two years ago thefifteen or so older kids were asked by Brandon Flynn, their youth leader,to come up with a project that was larger than they could imagine: a freeChristian concert that would showcase some of the biggest names in theindustry. After the previous year’s amazing success (I Am Theyheadlined) the youth were ready to spread the Gospel through music, testimony, and by raising funds to benefit a charity of their choosing. This year they felt God was leading them to the Bishop’s Partnersin Mission, specifically ‘Imagine No Malaria.' Knowing the impact thatlast year's event made on our community, the fearless youth wereconfident that God would use them again in big ways to grow His

kingdom. As countless people stopped by the netted ‘malaria booth’, thepassion that our kids had when talking about where the donations wereheaded to was inspiring for everyone who encountered their fervent faces. Our youth raised over $2,500! As a church family dedicated to the Word of God, we know thatthese works in helping The Bishop's Partners in Mission are outwardexpressions of an inward change. It is because of our faithfulness to Christthat these events take place in churches large and small. Our family ofbelievers realize that what we are doing to help with ‘Imagine No Malaria’is only possible because of God’s Son who made a once-and-for-allsacrifice for us that compels our church to reach beyond our walls, transforming an empty field into a mighty mustard seed. The Bishop’sPartners in Mission continues to be an inspiration to our congregations asthey sow the seed in faraway corners of creation. The Chi Rho Singers, comprised of United Methodist clergy throughout Central and Northeastern PA, are coming to the North Pocono area for a concert on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 7 pm at the Moscow United Methodist Church, 126 Church Street in Moscow, PA 18444. All are invited to come hear the story of God’s love for us and all the world compellingly told through Chi Rho’s singing and music of praise, prayer and worship. Many of our local clergy participate in this choir. A free will offering will be received. For Information call 570-842-7251.
