Girls Scouts Making Friends at MUMC Make New friends but keep the old, One is silver and the other is gold Sunday, March 18, 2018 saw Girl Scouts from NorthPocono Troops 605 and 620 join us in worship at Moscow UMC for a celebration of Girl Scout Sunday Present were girls and leaders from two Girl Scout Troops: Families from Troop #620 attended. Girl Scouts in Troop 620 are Daisies, Brownies and Juniors. They meet at the school under the leadership of ErinSkoniezski and participate in lots of fun and educational activities like going to the zoo. They work on Girl Scout merit badges, learning lots of new skills andparticipate in many service projects to help people. Recently, they donated someof their Girl Scout Cookie Sales Profit to the St. Joseph’s Center. They plan to visit there soon to learn about the residents and volunteer in activities with them.

Troop #605 is a Troop of approximately 18 Daisies (girls in kindergarten or first grade) under the leadership of Danielle Brazen and assistants. They meet every other week at Moscow UMC for their many activities and have recently: Visited the fire house to learn fire safety and first aid Visited the police station to learn about stranger danger and staying safeHosted two mobile STEM (Science -Technology – Engineering - Math) events at ourchurch: 1) programming your own robots and 2) virtual reality. An upcoming STEM event will be held later in the Spring and is called Motion Commotion Invited a nutritionist to come teach the girls about healthy eating Built a Tree of Hope for Girl Scout World Association Day: The girls made leavesexpressing what they would like to do to help and change the world for the better.Some ideas they had were to: help elephants, help stray cats & dogs, buy fish and care for them, help plants grow, water trees, help stop hunger, put food out for animals to eat, help mommy, and find a way to stop fighting.Some upcoming events will be: learning magic and theater at the cultural center; a visit to the WNEP TV studio to learn how a news station works and to be on TV; learning outdoor survival skills at the Lacawac Sanctuary. Welcome to brand new Daisy Troop #136 which begins meeting at Moscow UMC this month under the leadership of Holly Glover and Tami Berry! We’re looking forward to making new friends…!
