2018 Lent - Holy Week - Easter Season Schedule Sunday, March 18 – 5th Sunday of Lent. We are on a pilgrimage to heaven and thisweek’s theme is connecting our young and young at heart to God through Girl Scoutingand our United Methodist Camps. Our guest presenter will be Matt Williams, Directorof the Sky Lake Center in Windsor, NY. Our special music will be provided by our adult choir and everyone is invited after worship to stay for coffee hour – bring a dish to share if you like! At 2 pm we will host a worship service in the upstairs at St. Mary’s Villa nursing home in Elmhurst, complete with prayer, favorite hymns, and Holy Communion. All are welcome! Thursday, March 22 – Our final 2018 North Pocono Ministerium Ecumenical Lenten Worship service takes place at Crossroads Assembly of God, at 7 p.m. Our Theme is“The Decision to …. “ and Pastor Eric Luczak will preach. Our offering helps the North Pocono Dry Goods pantry. Palm Sunday, March 25 – Palm and Passion Sunday opens Holy Week which ends in our Easter celebration of Christ’s Resurrection. Our worship today is at 11 am. We opens with a celebration of palms waving over Jesus’ triumphal celebration intoJerusalem and ends with a solemn reflection on the passion of Christ and the sacrificehe made for us and our salvation, and the salvation of all the world. Our special music will be provided by our children’s, hand bell and adult choirs.Holy Thursday, March 29 – Our community United Methodist congregations join us fora remembrance of Jesus’ Last Supper, his last heartfelt teachings and prayers, and Holy Communion. Worship is 7 pm – Special music provided by our adult choir Good Friday, March 30 – The Way of the Cross, an ancient-modern walk with Jesus, reflecting on the mysteries and blessings of our faith, anytime from 4-7 pm. Sunday school program 3 pm

Easter Sunday, April 1 – This special day begins with a Community Ecumenical Sunrise Worship at the Fairview Memorial Park in Elmhurst at 6:30 a.m. Our regular Sundayschool has off for the day to plan and get ready for a fun Easter Egg Hunt after worship! All are invited! Our Easter celebration of Christ’s Resurrection in worship today is 11 am. Our special music will be provided by our children’s, hand bell and adult choirs.Bright Sunday, April 8 – A Sunday of joy and laughter as we continue our celebration ofthe Easter Resurrection Story. Worship at 11 am. Sunday school resumes. Special music provided by our Organist, Beth Howden and her student, Elizabeth Mountain Sunday, April 15 – Our Sunday school Easter Pageant is performed during our 11 am worship. Special music will be provided by our children’s choir. Coffee hour after worship: good food and fellowship with friends, old and new. Sunday, April 22 – Amid the joys of Resurrection, our choir brings us a cantata during our 11 am worship, celebrating the redemption of Creation in Jesus Christ. This will also be our annual honoring of Native American Ministries Sunday. Sunday, April 29 – Our youth lead us in their annual MUMC Youth Sunday Proceeds benefit our MUMC Bell choir!

You are cordially invited to a morning of sharing by Nan McCurdy and Miguel Mareina, missionaries from the GYTTE (Give Ye Them To Eat)mission in Tlancualpican, Mexico. They will be sharing the stories of the opportunities they have had in working with local villagers, their needs,their hopes and their faith. Marian Hartman has led several mission trips to Tlancualpican and will be leading several teams in 2018-2019. GYTTE was founded in 1977 as a social outreach project of the Methodist Church of Mexico to combat hunger and poverty in the rural sector. The purpose of the \"Give Ye Them to Eat\" program (GYTTE) is to strengthen the capabilities of marginalized people and communities to meet their basic needs, and to determine and sustain a just and integrated development process. Participatory methods and development tools are used to create conditions in which change can take place from within the communities. The “Tree of Life” trainingcenter in Tlancualpican conducts workshops and hands-on opportunitiesin the areas of health, sanitation, animal care and breeding, agricultural methods such as terracing, composting and irrigation. Workshops also go “on the road” for VBS, Holy Week and Advent resources.
