July 17, 2022 10:00 a.m. Sixth Sunday of Pentecost GOD’S PEOPLE GATHER Gathering Prelude Be Thou Our Guard While Troubles Last St. Anne Hymn Tune Arranged by Phil Lehenbauer Parish Notes Invocation *Call To Worship Leader: Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness, come before the Lord with joyful songs; People: Know that the Lord is God. It is God who made us, and we are his, we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Leader: Enter God’s gates with thanksgiving and God’s courts with praise; People: Give thanks to God and praise God’s name. Leader: For the Lord is good and God’s love endures forever; People: The Lord’s faithfulness continues through all generations. *Opening Hymn UMH #601 “Thy Word Is a Lamp” Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. When I feel afraid, Think I've lost my way, Still you're there right beside me. And nothing will I fear As long as you are near. Please be near me to the end.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Now I will not forget Your love for me and yet My heart forever is wandering. Jesus be my guide And hold me to your side, And I will love you to the end. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Children’s Chat GOD’S WORD PROCLAIMED Choral Prayer for Illumination: Spirit Song UMH #347 O let the Son of God enfold you With His Spirit and His love Let Him fill your heart and satisfy your soul

O let Him have the things that hold you And His Spirit like a dove Will descend upon your life and make you whole. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. O come and sing this song with gladness As your hearts are filled with joy Lift your hands in sweet surrender to His name O give Him all your tears and sadness Give Him all your years of pain And you'll enter into life in Jesus' name. Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs.

Jesus, O Jesus Come and fill Your lambs. Psalm Reading Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Special Music Carol Hess “I Believe” by Drake, Graham, Shirl & Stillman Arranged James Michael Stevens Gospel Reading John 10:11-18 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down

and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” Leader: The word of God for the people of God. People: Thanks be to God. Message Pastor Lori Robinson The Good Shepherd GOD’S PEOPLE RESPOND *Hymn of Response UMH#381 “Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us” Savior, like a shepherd lead us, much we need thy tender care; in thy pleasant pastures feed us, for our use thy folds prepare. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast bought us, thine we are. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast bought us, thine we are. We are thine, thou dost befriend us, be the guardian of our way; keep thy flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Hear, O hear us when we pray. Thou hast promised to receive us, poor and sinful though we be; thou hast mercy to relieve us, grace to cleanse and power to free. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! We will early turn to thee. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

We will early turn to thee. Early let us seek thy favor, early let us do thy will; blessed Lord and only Savior, with thy love our bosoms fill. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus! Thou hast loved us, love us still.
