Why We Worship To Say “Please” and “Thank You” to GodWe worship when we join as a community of faith to encounter God, meeting newneighbors and greeting old friends. The word “worship” comes from the OldeEnglish word for “worthy.” To worship means we honor God as worthy of our love, praise and gratitude. In worship: • We pray together and sing prayerful words to open our hearts and minds • We allow the Holy Spirit to inspire us • We set aside our worries and cares • We recognize and celebrate God’s goodness to us in countless ways • We confess our need for God’s mercy • We look to the Bible to hear God’s Word explored and reflected on for our lives • We consider how we are being called to help bring God’s Kingdom to our community • We express our heartfelt thanksgiving to God through our offerings, for every goodness given to us in Jesus Christ.Because such a variety of people seek God at MUMC, so we offer blended worshipservices, full of spiritual moments for all ages, music preferences, and religiousbackgrounds. We also offer a monthly mini-hymn sing of old time favorite hymns

and a quarterly worship with a more contemporary focus. Our weekly worship timeis important – make it a point to put it on your calendar!Bring your family. Bring a friend. Share God’s invitation to as many people as you can - so we grow in faith and reach new people for Jesus Christ. 10 a.m. Summer 2018 Worship Series: Life of Blessing – Jesus’ Teaching in the Beatitudes – Matthew 5:1-12 Summer can be a time to slow down and savor life. What better way to do that than getting back to the basics and the blessings of life in Christ? Join us for worship, 10 a.m., each Sunday this summer as we explore thelife of blessing Jesus graciously calls us to. Each summer Sunday highlights the musical gifts of our church members and friends. Come, worship with us and grow in faith!
