BIOLOGY ACTIVTY JULY MONTH Class: 9th B Name: Anushka Kulshrestha Flipbook on cell division and different stages of mitosis. What is cell division? There are two distinct types of cell division out of which the first one is vegetative division, wherein each daughter cell duplicates the parent cell called mitosis. The second one is meiosis, which divides into four haploid daughter cells. Mitosis: The process cells use to make exact replicas of themselves.

BIOLOGY ACTIVTY JULY MONTH Stages of Mitosis: No.1: Prophase Prophase is the first phase of mitosis, the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells. During prophase, the complex of DNA and proteins contained in the nucleus, known as chromatin, condenses. The main events of prophase are: the condensation of chromosomes, the movement of the centrosomes, the formation of the mitotic spindle, and the beginning of nucleoli break down.

BIOLOGY ACTIVTY JULY MONTH No.2 Metaphase Metaphase is the third phase of mitosis, the process that separates duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells. ... There is an important checkpoint in the middle of mitosis, called the metaphase checkpoint, during which the cell ensures that it is ready to divide In metaphase, chromosomes are lined up and each sister chromatid is attached to a spindle fiber. In anaphase, sister chromatids (now called chromosomes) are pulled toward opposite poles. In telophase, chromosomes arrive at opposite poles, and nuclear envelope material surrounds each set of chromosomes.

BIOLOGY ACTIVTY JULY MONTH No.3 Anaphase Anaphase is the fourth phase of mitosis, the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells. ... The separated chromosomes are then pulled by the spindle to opposite poles of the cell.’ 1-)Anaphase is marked by the Migration of chromosomes towards the pole. 2-)The centromere of each chromosomes divide and the two sister chromatids now form to daughter chromosomes. 3-)The contraction of spindle fibre pulls or drags them away from the equator towards the opposite pole

BIOLOGY ACTIVTY JULY MONTH No.4: Telophase Telophase is the fifth and final phase of mitosis, the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells. During telophase, a nuclear membrane forms around each set of chromosomes to separate the nuclear DNA from the cytoplasm. ... membrane forms around each set of chromosomes to create two new nuclei. The single cell then pinches in the middle to form two separate daughter cells each containing a full set of chromosomes within a .nucleus. This process is known as cytokinesis
