When snow falls, nature listens! Cover page credits

Editor's Note Agamya Jain Cozy, furry woollens, foggy mornings, winds that can freeze you to the core and the warmth of sweets which radiates to every inch of your body… Sounds familiar? That’s because winters are finally upon us and so is this issue of the newsletter! Greetings, Readers! Winters are often associated with the infamous winter blues, yet there’s something so warm and comforting about this season and seeing other people sitting in their balconies, basking in the elusive sunlight. That is why I feel this is a season of contrast and irony, where on one hand we curse the chilly weather for making us stay indoors but on the other hand, end up feeling nostalgic and reminisce about the good old days spent in the comfort of our homes, with not a care in the world. I believe winter has countless things to teach us and this has been beautifully encapsulated by American poet and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson in his quote, “The hard soil and four months of snow make the inhabitants of the northern temperate zone wiser and abler than their fellow who enjoys the fixed smile of the tropics.” Which is why I deem it fitting that in some ancient societies, people used to measure their age not in terms of years but in the number of winters they’ve seen. So, here’s hoping this thought pushes you to make the most out of this season and beat those winter blues! Happy Reading!
