Rochester Hills BUILDING DEPARTMENT Staff Activity June Anniversaries Norwood Bates Brian Thomas Alex Drummer Innovations/Collaborations: Welcome Dillion Morgan Ordinance Inspector Chitra processed the first electronic land division application and set up an automated inspection cancelation process that actually sends a text to the inspector’s phone! Staff Activity  Update Building Department emergency operations plan, Completed  IAS Building Department reaccreditation. Completed  Complete BS&A process improvement for Ordinance In Process.  Develop an automated expired permit process, In Process  Develop 5 year strategic plan for Facilities. In Process  Develop and track measurable service goals for the Facilities Division. In Process  Host the Spring and Fall HOA Forums. 2

Rochester Hills BUILDING DEPARTMENT May Snippets  The Building Department completed a very detail oriented audit as part of the Departments IAS Accreditation renewal. Thank you to everyone for your hard work, it has proven to be beneficial!  The Building Department was notified by the IAS auditors that we successfully met and actually exceeded the requirements necessary to continue with the accreditation, therefore, the renewal was granted. The Rochester Hills Building Department remains as the only community in the State of Michigan to achieve this recognition!  On May 9th the Mayor presented a proclamation to the Building Director in front of City Council to support Building Safety Month.  Jodi received a compliment from a resident (Mike Kolkjen) for her assistance in getting a commercial property cleaned up that was falling into disrepair.  The proposed budget was submitted for the upcoming 2023-2025 budget years, thank you Lisa for all the assistance it was extremely helpful. 3

Rochester Hills BUILDING DEPARTMENT May Snippets The Rochester Hills Building Department hosted multiple events to promote National Building Safety Month. The Rochester Hills Fire Department and Oakland County Sheriff’s Office also participated in these events. o May 7th we teamed up Happy with Home Depot to kick Birthday off their first kids workshop Gary & since 2020. Jeff! o May 11th event was hosted at the OPC. See next page for Building o May 21st event was with the Rochester Hills Building Safety Month Department and the pictures! Rochester Hills BUILDING DEPARTMENT May Snippets  Members of the Building Department attended an in-person damage assessment training hosted by the Oakland County Building Officials and Oakland County to be prepared in the event of a disaster.  The Building Director met with the Home Builders Association to discuss a partnership on future projects.  The new Fairfield Inn located on Rochester Road received a temporary certificate of occupancy and is now open for business.
