BSRLM Early Years and Primary Mathematics (EYPM) Working Group Minutes of the Fourth Meeting Venue: King’s College London Date: Saturday 10th November 2018 Time: 14:25-15:15 Chair: Sue Gifford and Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai Scriber: Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai In attendance: Alison Curwen (Year 3 Teacher); Alison Parish (Independent); Ann Dowker (University of Oxford); Anne Mulligan (Middlesex University); Gwen Ineson (Brunel University London); Judy Sayers (University of Leeds); Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai (University of Reading); Rebecca Hanson (Independent); Sheldon Phillips (UCL Institute of Education, EdD student); Sue Gifford (University of Roehampton) At this meeting, the focus was on building up lists of outlets suitable for EYPM research dissemination. These outlets include both academic ones and those more accessible to practitioners. As a group, it seems we are well aware of relevant traditional peer-reviewed research journals and professional journals, but are less aware of outlets that are arguably more accessible to teachers e.g. blogs and magazines. Perhaps this could be an area for development for our Working Group. Traditional peer-reviewed research journals  British Educational Research Journal  British Journal of Educational Psychology  British Journal of Developmental Psychology  Developmental Science  Early Childhood Educational Research  Educational Studies in Mathematics  European Early Childhood Education Research Journal  For the Learning in Mathematics  Frontiers in Education  Frontiers in Psychology  Journal for Research in Mathematics Education  Mathematics Education Research Journal  Research in Mathematics Education Professional journals  Arithmetic Teacher (USA)  Childhood Education  Education 3-13  Junior Education  Mathematics Teaching (by the Association of Teachers of Mathematics)  Micromath  Namnasan (NCM) Sweden in English  Nursery World  Primary Mathematics (by The Mathematical Association)  Primary Practice  Teaching & Learning  Young Children (USA) Blogs British Education Research Association  British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics  Craig Barton 

 La Salle  Mr. Reddy Magazines  Child Education  National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM)  Times Education Supplement (TES) YouTube channels  Association of Teachers of Mathematics Other platforms  Ann Dowker’s Yahoo! page on intervention  BoB (on-demand TV and radio service for education in the UK)  LinkedIn Mathematics group  Podcasts Sue also briefly highlighted issues with the proposed revisions to the Early Learning Goals, including the omission of Shape space and measures, and suggested that our EYPM Working Group could provide expertise to address those issues. We propose to continue to explore these issues and the research basis of the pilot Goals at our next meeting.
