Message from the PRESIDENT RTR. PRIYANKA ANAND PANDIT Dear Rotaractors and Readers, PRESIDENT I am delighted to present to you this special edition of our Rotaract Club's magazine, which serves as a ROTARACT CLUB OF VASCO DA GAMA testament to the incredible impact we have made as RIY 2022-2023 a club. As President, it has been an absolute privilege to lead this dynamic and dedicated group of individuals who are committed to creating positive change in our community. Serving as President has been an immensely fulfilling experience. It has provided me with the opportunity to witness firsthand the power of collective action and the positive impact we can create when we come together with a shared purpose. Guided by the principles of Rotaract, we have tirelessly worked towards uplifting our community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. Looking ahead, I am excited about the future of our club. We will continue to explore new avenues for service, collaborating with like-minded organizations and individuals to maximize our impact. WHAT IS ROTARACT ? Rotaract originally began with Rotary International youth program in 1968 in Charlotte North Rotary Club in Charlotte, North Calorina, United States and has grown into a major Rotary sponsored organisation spread around the world. It’s a service, leadership, professional, community service organisation for young man and women between ages 18-30. “Rotaract” stands for “Rotary in Action”. The main motto is fellowship through service. Most Rotaract activities take place at the club level. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings, usually after every two weeks which features speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions or visits to other clubs. Club members get together on designated days for service project work, Social events or professional/ leadership development workshops. The purpose of Rotaract is to provide opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in their personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and services. To be eligible for membership, prospective members must be 18-30 years of age, show that they are committed to Rotaract and show that they are of good standing in the club. Prospective members are “Inducted” to become members, also known as Rotaractors. The avenues of service include Club Service, Community Service, International Service and Professional Development. The president is the head of the organisation the club of particular geographical area form a part of RI (Rotary International) District 3170, likewise forms part of RI District. RID 3170 covers North Karnataka, entire Goa, South Maharashtra. The leader of the RI District is called as DRR (District Rotaract Representative). RIY 2022-23| PAGE 03

Installation Ceremony Step into the world of the Rotaract Club of Vasco Da Gama as we recount the memorable Installation Ceremony held on 26th June 2022, at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina. This captivating event brought together esteemed guests, Rotaract members, and the larger community to witness the dawn of a new era. Rtn. Rajkumar Tomar, Past President of Rotary Club of Vasco Da Gama, assumed the role of Installation Officer, imparting wisdom and guidance to the club's incoming leadership.Adding further significance to the occasion, Mr. Lalit Saraswat graced the ceremony as the esteemed Chief Guest, inspiring the attendees with his words of wisdom and experience. His presence symbolized the support and encouragement from the community, fueling the Rotaract Club's aspirations for the year ahead. The Installation Ceremony reached its pinnacle as Rtr. Priyanka Pandit assumed the role of President, supported by Rtr. Gautami Manakikar as Secretary and Rtr. Chaitaly Pandit as Treasurer. अवघा रंग एक झाला Experience the vibrant blend of art and culture as we delve into the joint project between Rotaract Club of Vasco Da Gama and Samraat Club of Vasco Da Gama for the year 2022-23. On 31st July 2022, the inauguration of the project took place at 1930, Vasco, with Dr. Shivanand Bandekar, the Dean of Goa Medical College, gracing the event as the Chief Guest. The inauguration commenced with the traditional lighting of the samayi, symbolizing the auspiciousness of the occasion. Presidents of respective clubs expressed their enthusiasm for the project and the significance of showcasing the ancient Indian art of rangoli. Rtr. Rohan Bandekar, provided insights into the history & cultural importance of Damodar Bhajani Saptah, adding depth to the event. Dr. Shivanand Bandekar commended the dedication and skill displayed by Mr. Akash Naik, the rangoli artist, and his team, who completed the 5x5 meters masterpiece depicting the celebration at Damodar Saptah in just 24 hours. Following the inauguration, the exhibition opened its doors to the general public, attracting over a thousand visitors. The project received overwhelming appreciation and acclaim, with guests marveling at the intricate details and cultural significance portrayed in the rangoli art. RIY 2022-23| PAGE 06

Har Ghar Rotaract Inspiring Change, Promoting Sustainability Har Ghar Rotaract, a project that aims to inspire change and promote sustainability by reducing the use of plastic and encouraging the use of paper bags. From workshops to paper bag distribution and an inter-school street play competition, Rotaract Club of Vasco Da Gama leaves no stone unturned in their mission to create awareness and make a tangible difference in their community. Har Ghar Rotaract Inspiring Change, Promoting Sustainability Phase 3: Nukkad Natak - Say No to Single-Use Plastic To amplify their message, Rotaract Club of Vasco Da Gama organized an inter-school street play competition titled \"Nukkad Natak.\" Held on 20th August 2022, the event saw the participation of 44 students, accompanied by their teachers. The powerful performances highlighted the importance of saying no to single-use plastic, leaving a lasting impact on both participants and spectators Phase 4: Empowering Women, Supporting Local Vendors Taking their project to new heights, the Rotaract Club of Vasco Da Gama identified a women's club proficient in making paper bags. They commissioned an order for 5,000 paper bags, incorporating sponsorship advertisements on each bag. By distributing these paper bags to local vendors free of charge, the club not only empowered the women's club with continuous revenue but also provided vendors with sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions. In an exciting development, the club's innovative project idea for empowering communities won first place at Rota Tank. Their concept aimed to create self- sustaining micro-businesses within marginalized communities, providing training and resources to foster entrepreneurship and economic growth. सहस्त्र दीप प्रज्वलन Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama celebrated Diwali with their annual project, Sahastra Deep Prajwalan, on 30th October 2022. Held at the revered Shri Narsingh Sateri Temple, this marked the third consecutive year of the event. With each passing year, the number of diyas lit has increased, from 1551 to 2551, and this year we set out to illuminate an impressive 5001 diyas. The intricate patterns created by the diyas paid homage to Lord Mahadeva, showcasing symbols such as Nandi, Trishul, Shivling, and Damru. This collaborative effort involved Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama, along with Rotary Club of Vasco da Gama, Samraat Club of Vasco da Gama, Rotary Club of Vasco Port Town, Shree Ram Sports and Cultural Club, Innerwheel Club of Vasco da Gama, and the dedicated members of Mahadev Mahila Mandal. आरती संग्रह In a harmonious endeavor that blended culture, spirituality, and community service, we organized our first-ever fundraiser project, Aarti Sangrah. On 29th August, 2022, this momentous occasion aimed to raise funds while spreading awareness about the club's mission among the residents of Vasco-Da-Gama. Symbolizing the significance of the event, the booklet was unveiled by Rtr. Rohan Bandekar, the esteemed Club advisor and past president. Led by the dedicated project coordinator, Rtr. Rohan Naik, along with a committed team, the booklet was carefully curated to ensure authenticity and cultural relevance. Through Aarti Sangrah, we demonstrated the perfect blend of tradition and altruism, channeling the melodious strains of the aartis into a purposeful endeavor that serves the community and paves the way for a brighter future. RAJSUYA -MULTI DISTRICT INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AVENUE CONFERENCE The Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama hosted the first-ever Rajsuya event, a Multi-District gathering held on 20th and 21st January, 2023. Bringing together Rotractors from across India, the event was a resounding success, promoting friendship, learning, and collective impact. The event featured a memorable inaugural session with Adv. Amit Palyekar as the Chief Guest and Rtn. Russell D'Souza as the Guest of Honour. Attendees enjoyed an array of activities, including icebreakers, Zumba, beach adventures, training sessions, an Online Quiz, and the captivating Mr. and Ms. Rajsuya competition. Notably, the event fostered networking and collaboration through letterhead exchanges between clubs from different districts. The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Siddhesh Bhagat, where DRR Rtr. Aniket Jadhav expressed gratitude for the remarkable success of the RAJSUYA Rajsuya encapsulated the essence of Rotaract, inspiring attendees to forge new connections, learn from one another, and make a positive impact. The event stands as a testament to the commitment of the Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama in fostering collaboration and spreading the spirit of Rotaract throughout India. RIY 2022-23| PAGE 10

CHARTERS DAY The Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 24th Charter Day on 12th February 2023. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Rtn. Sandhya Venkatesh, President of Rotary Club of Vasco da Gama. A special moment ensued as past presidents, PP Rtr. Rohan Bandekar and PP Rtr. Rohan Naik, jointly cut the Charter Cake, symbolizing the club's journey and growth over the years. The event also witnessed the presentation of the annual Youth Icon Award, which was rightfully bestowed upon Miss Ruchi Mandrekar for her exceptional contributions. The Charter Day celebration was a testament to the club's legacy of service, fellowship, and commitment to making a positive impact in the community. NAVRANG Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama and Rotary Club of Vasco Port Town joined hands to organize the vibrant Navratri event, \"Navrang,\" at Chicalim Panchayat Hall. With a sold-out crowd of 350 attendees, the night was filled with energetic dandiya and garba dance performances, engaging competitions. RIY 2022-23| PAGE 11

BLOOD DONATION CAMPS Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama organized 3 impactful blood donation camps this year at 1930 mall Vasco, Zuari Indian Oiltanking, and Taj sets. With a total collection of 114 blood units, these camps exemplify the club's commitment to saving lives and meeting the urgent demand for blood. FLAG HOISTINGS Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama celebrated Independence Day, Liberation Day, and Republic Day with enthusiasm at our adopted school, Podxiro Primary School in Bogmalo. The event was filled with patriotic spirit and included distribution of books, crayons, and snacks to the students, fostering a joyous learning environment. ROSHNI Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama and Rotary Club of Vasco Port Town joined hands once again to host the much- awaited Roshni - Akashdivo Competition during Deepotsav 2022. With an impressive participation of 25 entries, the event showcased the creativity and commitment of the participants in crafting eco-friendly akashdivo. MINI NARKASUR In a festive spirit, the Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama and Rotary Club of Vasco Port Town teamed up to host the lively Mini Narkasur Competition during Deepotsav 2022. With an enthusiastic participation of 17 entries, the event showcased the creative talent of the participants in crafting miniature effigies. HEALTH CHECKUP CAMP Breast Cancer Screening Camp Our club, in collaboration with Yuvraj Singh Foundation and Hospicio South District Hospital, organized a successful breast cancer screening camp at Keshav Smruti High School. With 62 women participating, we aimed to raise awareness and promote early detection for a healthier future. IKSHANA: Eye Check-Up Camp Our Club, in partnership with ASG Eye Hospital, organized a beneficial eye check-up camp for students of Keshav Smruti Balvikas Mandir. With 130 students screened, early detection and 15 students prescribed spectacles, ensuring their visual health and well- being. HOSTING ZONAL MEET In a remarkable milestone, our club had the honor of hosting the 3rd Zonal Meeting for the Rota Year 2022-2023, bringing together Rotaract clubs from across the zone for an inspiring and productive gathering. THANKYOU HOOMAN Rtr. Apeksha Bandekar The Rotaract Club of Vasco Da Gama has recently celebrated the one-year milestone of its COMMUNITY SERVICE heartwarming project, named \"Thankyou Hooman.\" DIRECTOR This initiative was launched on January 29, 2022, with the primary goal of providing nourishment to stray animals in the Vasco and Dabolim areas. By strategically placing donation boxes at \"petsup\" pet shop and \"Flurry pet\" store, the club collected funds to support its mission of feeding these neglected creatures. The main focus of the project revolves around feeding the stray dogs, aiming to alleviate their hunger and ensure their overall health. The Rotaract Club members have been providing these dogs with cooked rice and eggs, as well as supplementing their diet with dog food such as Pedigree. Since the project's inception, members of the Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama have worked to identify dogs who required food. Through careful observation the members successfully identified 15 dogs in Vasco and Dabolim. Under the \"ThankYou Hooman\" initiative, these dogs have been provided with daily meals. Crucial to the success of this project has been the collaboration with local pet shop owners. Their willingness to allow donation boxes at their shops has played an integral role in gathering the necessary funds to sustain the project. The club expresses its heartfelt gratitude to these pet shop owners for their invaluable contribution to this noble cause. Their support has allowed the Rotaract Club of Vasco da Gama to continue providing regular meals to the stray dogs and bring a ray of hope into their lives. Equally deserving of recognition are the compassionate individuals who have generously contributed towards this project through their donations. The collective effort of the community has enabled the Rotaract Club to make a tangible difference in the lives of these stray animals. Whether it was a small or large contribution, every donation has played a vital role in ensuring that these dogs receive the nourishment they deserve.
