1967/71’ Gulf Livery GT40P/1086 Production Race Coupe This GT40 has the unique distinction of being the very last numbered GT40 in the Original Production : P/1000-1086. In 1967 John Willment acquired the GT40 race division from Ford, along with business partner John Wyer, they formed the new racing division known as J.W.A. and sponsored by Gulf Oil. After the racing program ended around 1970, John Wyer went on to manage the Gulf 917 Por- sche team, while John Willment went on to retain the very last of the Gulf Light Weight car’s, (1074,1075,1076,1084,1086). This is the only original abbey panels GT40 personally owned by Mr Willment, and is the only one to have remained original and unrestored throughout the years. Finished from new along with the others in the Iconic Gulf Blue and Orange, these cars stand out among all the others. Having had just a few select owners over the last 50 + years, it is coming out of a long term ownership of 17 years. The car has been fully documented and inspected by noted GT40 Historians: Ronnie Spain, John S. Allen, and Lee Holman of GT40 racing Legends Holman/Moody. Over the years, it has appeared in a number of books and magazines, as well as being displayed in a number of events and concours.
