Dear Parents, With great pride and privilege I Ms. Swati Ahmed would like to take the honor of introducing myself to you as the Director Principal of G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea. The school which is known for its wide dedication to excellence within a very short span of time. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community . I feel very fortunate to be part of this school and to support the students and families. I have dedicated more than 30 years to the field of education . I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success. As a proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child” Along with the teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by GDGPSP by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners. ”, All of us at G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea are eager and excited to work with your children . This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy and safe, so they may learn as much as they can. As Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be here! MAGIC SHOW TO WELCOME KIDS Schools were closed in March, 2020 when a nationwide lockdown was announced. Nearly after 11 months of closure, the government announced that the schools will reopen. So GDGPSP has also taken an initiative to reopen the school. The start of the school after 11 months of long break seemed more overwhelming than ever before. GD Goenka Public School Purnea welcomed our beloved students back to the campus with the enthusiasm and passion in the post COVID-19 scenario. Our grit and resolve in overcoming the pandemic had always been our topmost priority while maintaining all safety precautions and social distancing norms to ensure well-being of our students. Just after the arrival of the students, GD Goenka Public School Purnea organized a welcome programme for the Primary kids where the students were welcomed with Tilak and Arti to make them feel very special, sweets were distributed among the students. Later on, fun filled activities as well as magic show were organized for all the students. It turned out to be an amusing and joviality hour for our little ones. With the magician’s stick turning into a welcoming umbrella for the kids, the first trick itself won the lovable smile of all of them. All the tricks left the children clapping with joy. They laughed, they giggled and some tricks left them jaw struck. It was an hour filled with loads of fun and enjoyment.

MAGIC SHOW TO WELCOME KIDS We ensured the parents to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and safety guidelines. Students were instructed to wear face masks and maintain appropriate distance from each other. The classes commenced with 50% attendance with parent consent for their wards to attend the offline classes. Everyday the students after entering the campus go for a medical test to measure the temperature and oxygen level in the body. The students those who are not coming to school, they are still attending the online classes as usual.

STRESS BUSTER SESSION Every student who aims to become a high-achiever will experience exam stress. It’s an unavoidable part of student life that can be a tough nut to crack. Remember, stress exists for a reason and you can choose to let it be your downfall or use it to drive you to improve your work. So GDGPS organised a Counselling Stress Buster Session for its beloved children to cope with exam stress and anxiety. The motive behind this session was to prepare our students to overcome exam stress and to empower them with effective stress management techniques through various fun filled activities and breathing exercises.

KG GRADUATION DAY GD Goenka Public School, Purnea celebrated KG Graduation Day on 13th March to applaud the young enthusiastic learners of grade- UKG for their commendable performance in the session 2020-21. The celebration commenced with welcome of the Chief Guest, Savita Devi, Mayor of Purnia. This was followed by lamp lighting ceremony and welcome speech by Little Goenkan Miss Reet. The gathering was first addressed by the Principal and later by our respected Chairman Sir highlighting the vision of the school and role of parents and teachers in the students’ learning process.Parent also shared their views in the form of recorded videos.The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and stressed on the importance of being patient and receptive with their children. The most important part of the day was the felicitation of young graduates wherein the delighted tiny tots of Pre-Primary dressed in Graduation robes and hats walked the stage. Little Goenkans were felicitated with graduation certificates . The programme culminated with the vote of thanks by a Little Goenkan Miss Myra Gurumaita. It was indeed a joyous and memorable day for the little ones and their parents.

KG GRADUATION DAY

Educational Kaleidoscope GDGPSP presented Education Kaleidoscope on 20th March 2021 at Choudhary Greens to showcase the society its mission and vision. This program was organised to pay tribute to the CORONA warriors of society. The chief guest was Shri Daya Shankar Kumar Hon'ble S.P. Purnea and the guest of honour was Dr. Mukesh Kumar IMA President Purnea, IMA Secretary Dr. Sudhanshu, Dr. S. P. Singh, Dr. O. P Saha, Dr. Amarnath Kejriwal, Dr. Pranab Prakash and more than 250 doctors from in and around Purnea witnessed this extravaganza. All the intellectuals were pretty impressed with the conduct of the program and uttered in a single tone that GDGPSP is gradually fulfilling the blank of quality and class education in Purnea. They also praised the performances of the students and added that these performances of the Goenkans set an example to all of us that how holistic development is nurtured at GDGPSP. Guest Intellects were also pleased with the addition and presence of Academic Director cum Principal Ms. Swati Ahmed, Senior Academic Coordinator Mr. Raj Kumar Das, SST teacher Mr. Tausiful they added that these personalities will enhance and uplift the standard of whole sum education at GDGPSP. They also appreciated the conduct of Mr. Ritesh Tambakuwala as a program jockey of the evening.

Educational Kaleidoscope

Holi Celebration GDGPSP requested the parents to stay safe at this pandemic situation on the occasion of Holi. And GDGPSP hostel teachers and staff celebrated Holi in campus. The Chairman also visited old age home in Purnea with the team and he offered some gifts to the people there. The happiness reflected on the faces of the people there.

Teacher’s Workshop “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” - Phil Collins Workshops are always best to discuss academic issues, problems, doubts etc. It also helps the teachers to get deeper understanding of the concepts. A workshop on “How to utilize 35 minutes of class” was organized at G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea by our principal Ms Swati Ahmed Ma’am. It was conducted for the teachers to understand how can we engage the students in different activities based on the concept to get the best of the students. Also how can we use the time duration of class so that every student will be learning the concept effectively. The workshop took the teachers through an energetic learning session. It was an interesting and informative session making the teachers make their new strategies for more effective learning.

Parent Teacher’s Meeting Through Parent-Teacher meetings, parents and teachers develop a strong bond and cooperate with each other for betterment of the children. An offline PTM was held for KG section on 13th March 2021. Performance of the students was shared with their parents so as to make the parents aware of their ward’s status. Parents were also given strategies to support their ward in enhancing study skills to cope with the upcoming assessments. Annual PTM for grade 1 to grade 9 was conducted on 31st March and 1st April in the school campus. It was a huge success with parents appreciating the school’s effort in keeping the students engaged. Parents were informed by the teachers about their child’s progress, their child’s performance at academics, and at the same time, parents helped teachers understand the child and help them improve in case they are lacking in any domain. Parents were also assured that sincere efforts are being taken by the school and the teachers in providing quality education to the children.

Parent Orientation, 2021 The Orientation for parents was held on 9th March and 10th March, 2021 at GD Goenka Public School, Purnea. The Orientation programme was held to welcome the new parents for the session 2021-22 and to acquaint them with the beliefs and practices of the school. Emphasis was laid on the importance of education and the holistic development of each and every child. Further, the parents were apprised with the rules and regulations of the school. The orientation began by welcoming the new parents, providing them a platform to interact with the Senior Leadership and to know each other. It was followed by sharing the journey of the foundation, its philosophy, ethos and about all the initiatives taken by the foundation. Our Principal ma’am also conveyed to the parents that they had an important role to play in the education of their ward and our collaborative effort would help in fulfilling the dreams we have for our children.

Fire Mock drill Fire safety mock drill was conducted at GD Goenka Public School, Purnea. All the teaching, non teaching and other staves assembled in the ground to be addressed by the fire safety officer. The audience was first made aware of the causes of fires in home, school or other places. All were given hands-on-experience on using the fire extinguishers during emergency. The fire safety team showed how fire fighters evacuate the building and save civilians from fire hazard. The fire safety officer explained the different types of fires and gave information about the types of fire extinguisher and how to use them accordingly. The team also showed demo on how to control burning LPG cylinder. Our respected Principal Ma’am also volunteered and showed one of the ways to tackle fire on LPG cylinder. We, at G D Goenka Public School, Purnea understand the importance of fire safety training and drills to eliminate life threatening environment and intent to suggest some measures to augment the same..

REOPENING OF SCHOOL The school came alive on 14th May2021 as GD Goenka Public School, Purnea opened its online classes to welcome the students for the first day of the new academic session. There was excitement everywhere as students waited eagerly to interact and meet their teachers. The teachers were ready with their action-packed lessons and soon the hands of students were busy doing the activities that were planned for them. It was a fruitful and productive day as the teachers took the kids under their wings and made them comfortable in their new environment.

Evening Classes Performing Art provide children with opportunities to experience new ways of thinking. They present different challenges all the time and children have to come up with their own ways of overcoming these challenges. Therefore, we at GDGPS have come up with evening classes for our tiny tots where they learn dance, art and music.Music has great healing power and relieves students of any anxiety and stress. Dance is a physical exercise that reduces stress, it improves strength, flexibility and keeps them healthy. Art and craft helps improve imagination and creative skills. Children learn to be patient and express their thoughts more creatively. These extracurricular activities are an integral part of education along with academics for the holistic development of our children. It helps them to become outspoken, physically strong, and active.

Evening Classes The evening slot facilities are provided by the school to keep our students engaged in creative way and to keep them stress free. The Idea behind this, is to engage children in an effective and productive way. Students can choose hobby classes as per their interest or choice. They can choose any one or two. If they wish they can attend all three. We are taking keen interest on their mental and physical health. As physical activity Zumba, Aerobics and classical dance are being conducted for the students. Let's take a small step towards overall development of our loved ones.

Household Chores Children at school are in their learning and growing age. They learn many things by doing. Learning with household chores is precious, builds brain pathways for thinking, creativity, flexibility , empathy and many other life skills. Our students are acquiring the knowledge of day to day life. There are many household tasks such as cleaning, washing, and ironing that have to be learned and done regularly at home. So that children can be prepared for life. It makes them self dependent . It also teaches them teamwork and responsibility. House hold core are given as a part of extended task.

Earth Day Celebration Earth Day Is our Mother Earth’s Birthday! A day that we Goenkans celebrated with love, honour and respect in hearts. It is all about educating people about conservation, protesting against climate change and global warming. We, at GDGPS celebrated Earth day on 22nd April 2021 to encourage our tiny tots to care and love our Mother Earth. KG kids were sent worksheets and asked to colour the. Our tiny tots collectively participated in coloring the beautiful worksheets based on Earth day. This is a fun way to encourage a change of habits and making them aware about earth conservation. Theme for this year is \"Together, We Can Restore Our Earth\", an initiative is taken to raise awareness of environmental issues on Earth Day.

Earth Day Celebration Our Primary school students were engaged in meaningful value added chores like sowing seeds in soil to show their love and respect for Mother Earth. Planting seeds with children is a great way to help them understand why nature is so valuable. Higher section students took a step towards inspiring and educating children to take up the responsibility of their environment, other thoughtful activities were conducted on virtual platform where Students expressed their views on the theme of Earth Day by making short speeches, on which students Express their thoughts and ideas to contribute in restoring our precious planet Earth. With full zeal and vigor our higher section students actively participated and learned the basic values parallelly.

Earth Day Celebration Our enthusiastic Goenkans were involved in making beautiful posters and slogans where they expressed their thoughts and creativity about how we can restore and save our precious Earth that we call home. Students designed wonderful creatives, expressing their wish for restoring the mother earth, and raising public awareness about the environment, inspiring people to save and protect it.

Creator’s Space G G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea in association with Whitehat Jr had their mega event “Creator’s Space” on April 24th. At the Creator’s Space Future Creators’ Summit, children and parents from around the globe were invited to soak in the wonders of coding, math, and space at this virtual gathering and our school took up the opportunity to get our students engaged by attending this amazing event. Creator’s Space was a manifestation of WhiteHat Jr’s intent to inspire and celebrate creativity amongst young learners. We were humbled to have globally acclaimed experts such Former Associate Administrator for Education at NASA, Donald G. James Nomellini & Olivier Professor of Education at Stanford Graduate School of Education and co-founder of youcubed.org, Dr. Joe Boaler and VP of International Partnerships at Code.org, Leonardo Ortiz. Students got a rare opportunity to interact with global STEM experts and see first-hand what prioritizing STEM education can lead to later in life. The event was hosted by Indian television superstar, Mini Mathur and covered intriguing topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Coding for Covid Vaccinations on one hand and making Math fun for everyone to break the myths of space technology on the other. There were also a number of fun quizzes, task challenges, polls and more for children to have immersive learning. .
