BASIC FOUNDATION CLASSES As we all know that the entire world is fighting against this pandemic of Covid-19 , and there was a situation of lockdown at the start of this new session. During that time there were changes made in the academic pattern that we followed. The process of Online teaching assured to satisfy the need of regular classes that the students were suppose to attend if school was open. So keeping in mind the need to developing the basic skills of our students for the new academic session, the foundation classes were started online. The well planned foundation course was posted by the teachers for the students.

ACADEMIC EXECUTION AND ACTIVITIES DURING LOCKDOWN As soon as the lockdown was announced, Our school jumped into action to design their own unique online teaching modules and virtual classes. “The virtual classes comprised of three parts - a video and audio based module of all subjects uploaded to school’s internal server; live teachings conducted as per the time table and anytime doubt-clearing sessions for smaller groups of students. In the new order of social distancing, homes are the new classrooms. Like it is happening everywhere else in the world, GDGPSP revolutionized learning and switched to online teaching to make up for lost time and ensure smooth running of academics through streaming technology and virtual tutorials on digital platforms. Internet addiction is no more a matter of concern because Zoom, Skype , Google, Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube are now helping us connect with students and conduct classes during the lockdown. As lockdown persisted, teachers at GDGPSP began online classes from March 16th. From assessment via WhatsApp groups to one on one sessions, the school has arranged it all to ensure that learning never stops. Students are encouraged to share their art and craft work in the school’s MDCP WhatsApp groups. They have been doing their best in art and craft to spread positivity during the corona virus outbreak. GDGPSP framed subject-wise timetables for online classes and are leaving no stone unturned to teach their students in a fun and interactive manner and we are proud to say that we are getting a tremendous response. “While conducting such classes we are ensuring that students are not overburdened with homework. We have given them ample amount of time for co-curricular activities and encouraged them to watch Ramayana on the television.

.NEW ROUTINE. Routines are important to us all and therefore, despite school being closed, it is important to maintain a routine and structure during the weekdays. So, a structured routine has been given to students that they are following during these days of lockdown. The day starts with an assembly followed by different virtual classes and enjoyable activities. This is essential so that they do not fall behind. All the students have been given some self-learning activities which they need to complete on their own at home. GOOD We are happy to announce NEWS FOR that ALL G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea is now a CBSE affiliated school.

MORNING ASSEMBLY DURING LOCKDOWN Morning assemblies are the physical, mental and spiritual preparation before starting our day. During the time of lockdown, the students are presenting assemblies from home along with their family members in order to start their day with a positive note by praying and also by learning values at home. This will help the students showcase their potential and talents which will stimulate their inner self to become leaders for tomorrow. Some of the special assemblies performed by students were “Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti Special Assembly” and “Mother’s Day Special Assembly”. The best assembly for each month is awarded with the “Galaxy Assembly Award”.

INNOVATOR OF THE MONTH An innovation can refer to something new or a change made to an existing product, idea or goal. It can be viewed as the application of better solutions that meets new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs. During the period of lockdown, students proved that learning will not stop whether they are in school or at home. They presented their views and ideas in their innovations made at home. All of them put forth the ideas that came into their minds with a lot of excitement and vigour. The students who made the best innovations were rewarded with the “Innovator of the Month” award. Let us have a glimpse at some of the innovations done by the shining stars of our school. INNOVATIONS

VIDEO JOCKEY- KHATTI MEETHI BAATEIN The school’s very own Radio Jockey station has evolved into a Video Jockey station during lockdown. It gives the young children a reason to speak and a way to share their work. Video Jockey encourages them to become better speakers and add more emotion to their words. It builds confidence and helps groom the personalities of our children. Every grade gets a chance to perform on weekly basis and a collage video is uploaded online every Sunday.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has engulfed the entire world and has posed serious challenges for the health and economic security of millions of people worldwide. In India too, the spread of coronavirus has been alarming and is posing severe health and economic ramifications for our country. So, the students of GDGPSP appealed for making generous donations in PM care relief fund to support the government in the wake of this emergency. They also told about what league of compassion club has been doing till now like going to old age home for donating food items and clothes, adoption of a village to develop a Harihar school there and donating 1/- rupee only per student on daily basis to provide the necessary things to the students of Harihar school. LEAGUE OF COMPASSION CLUB

Harmonious and rhythmic steps for a focused mind. We know that a focused mind will produce thoughtful results. So the students of GDGPSP presented a dance performance on the song “YEH WAQT NA THEHRA HAI, YEH WAQT NA THEHREGA, YUHI GUJARZAYEGA GHABRANA KAISA” as a challenge. The motive behind performing on this song was to create some positive vibes around the people during this pandemic situation of COVID-19 as the people throughout the world are suffering a lot. So this was just a step to make them feel motivated. NATYA CLUB

NATURE CLUB Mother Nature’s bounty is infinite. We need to love and care for her so that her abundance remains inexhaustible. All the school campuses are closed during lockdown, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still things going on! Nature club was inaugurated to spread the awareness about the importance of environment in our lives. It was hosted with a lot of activities. The students presented some new things like news bulletin on COVID-19, nature’s dance by wearing some leaves and flowers on their dress, that created quite an impact as they assessed the importance of the day.

The Literary and Dramatics Club was inaugurated with a challenge given to students on theme of Mother’s day. They were asked to pick a poem and recite it. They were asked to record it with soft background music and then enact it within 3 minutes. As a part of Mother’s Day, the students were also asked to make a video while helping their mother at home. This made the students spend some of their beloved mothers who are never off duty and they also helped their mother by doing a daily chore as a gesture of love. LITERARY AND DRAMATICS CLUB WITH MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Art and Craft department of GDGPSP inaugurated PICASSO CLUB in a new way by performing thematic art strokes within limited time. The students were given a challenge to paint on the theme of FAMILY and COVID-19 (STAY HOME STAY SAFE) within 5 minutes while a song will be playing in the background and this would be recorded. The students participated and showed their talent gracefully. This was done to develop an artistic mood of the students during these difficult times to enhance their creative skills. The students showed their beautiful artworks with enthusiasm and truly enjoyed the competition. PICCASO CLUB IN ACTION

A school’s Cabinet Election prepares students to become more responsible as they are going to play bigger roles in their civic life and this will help them discover a leader in them. The school council promotes citizenship learning and build social confidence among students, which in turn enables them in decision making even under challenging situations. This time the school’s Cabinet Elections were conducted online and everyone voted for their favourite leader. The students were asked to nominate themselves for the position of different posts like head boy, head girl, school editor, cultural minister, sports captain, etc. The candidates spoke their best in the video telling everyone why they should vote for him or her. After this the election was conducted in a democratic way by casting the votes into online ballet boxes. At last, to inculcate the leadership qualities in our students, a school cabinet was formed. Our one of its kind online investiture ceremony was a prestigious event in our school during lockdown. The school formally entrusted responsibilities on the young leaders to perform their duties honestly and sincerely. The ceremony was a conducted online using the ZOOM AUDITORIUM, the students were conferred upon with the virtual sashes and badges. The leaders took the oath in which they promised to uphold and follow the principles of our school. It was a never seen before event and the innovative idea was proposed by our talented leader, our beloved Principal ma’am. CABINET ELECTIONS AND VIRTUAL INVESTITURE CEREMONY

STAR STUDENT As every month an outstanding student in every class is recognized as STAR STUDENT of the month. Students are selected on their academic achievement, exemplary personal and social qualities, showing a love for learning and engagement in the total school program. But this time the criteria for star student was little different as they were selected on the basis of monthly attendance, innovation submission, courteousness, submission of MDCP work, regular assembly, positive attitude, GK Icon and Word Wizard submission. Every student, regardless of their ability, is a star. WORK HARD AND BE A STAR NEXT MONTH!!

ONLINE EXAMS After keeping in mind the situation of lockdown, the school decided to take the tests for students online, which were supposed to be taken as handwritten tests if the school was open. So the cycle test , periodic test, quiz (GK quiz, STEAM quiz), etc were successfully taken online. Before conducting these tests , the school ensured that these tests can be given using a smartphone or a computer. To make it easier for the students the test was based on an MCQ-pattern. Even the submission of Word Wizard was also done online. Students uploaded their word wizard on the school’s website.

HOW PARENTS CAN COPE WITH CHILDREN DURING COVID-19 OUTBREAK? Children may respond to stress in different ways such as being clingier, anxious, withdrawing, angry or agitated, bedwetting, etc. So we urge you to respond to your child’s reaction in a supportive way, listen to their concerns and give them extra love and attention. Try and keep your children close to you and other family members and avoid separating them from you in any way. If separation occurs (for example hospitalization) ensure regular contact via phone. Stick to regular routines and schedules as much as possible, or help create a new environment which includes school/learning as well as time for safely playing and relaxing. Follow the time table provided from school. Provide facts about what has happened, explain to them honestly what is going on now and give them clear information about how to reduce the risk of being infected by the disease.
