REOPENING OF THE SCHOOL Schools were closed since March, 2020 when a nationwide lockdown was announced due to Covid- 19. After 10 months of unfortunate closure, the government has announced that the schools will reopen for grade 6 to 8. Therefore, GDGPSP also took up the initiative to reopen school in the offline mode. We ensured parents that it is safe to send their kids to our school as we are following all the COVID-19 protocols and safety guidelines given by the government. We had our campus, buses and all the furniture sanitized. Students were instructed to wear face masks and maintain appropriate distance from each other. The classes commenced with 50% attendance with parent’s consent for their wards to attend offline classes. Every day after entering the campus, our students go for a medical test where their body temperature and oxygen level is noted down. Students who are not coming to school are still attending the online classes as usual as our school has provided for both the modes. Now the government has announced schools to reopen for students of grade 1 to 5 from 1st March onwards and we are all eagerly waiting to be back to school like the good old times.

Chocolate Day Special Assembly Chocolate is loved by people from all corners of the world. It is not only a great stress buster and a mood lifter but is also good for health. The chocoholic kindergarteners of GD Goenka Public School, Purnea celebrated Chocolate day special assembly. The assembly began with a Universal Prayer song followed by pledge and jolly phonics. They also sang and danced on a chocolate song. Last but not the least, they also prepared a special recipe where they used chocolates as toppings on cake or coffee and explained how it tastes.

Chocolate Day Special Assembly The joy of celebrating Chocolate Day with their classmates was seen on the gleaming faces as the tiny tots bid goodbye for the day with blissful memories!

VASANT PANCHAMI SPECIAL ASSEMBLY Vasant Panchami marks the beginning of the spring season. On 16th of February, 2021 the students of GDGPSP celebrated the festival with great joy and devotion by performing special assemblies. The assemblies were performed by the students of LKG to grade 9.The assembly by KG kids began with a Universal prayer song followed by pledge, Saraswati Vandana and Jolly phonics. The assembly for Grade 1 to 9 students started with Universal prayer, pledge, news and speech on the significance of the festival along with Saraswati Puja celebration at home. KG kids also recorded a video in which they worshipped goddess Saraswati. Everyone enjoyed the celebration and had a great experience.

FLOWER WEEK CELEBRATION To break the monotony of chilly winters, foggy days and laziness, KG department of GD Goenka Public School, Purnea made the environment colourful with the celebration of Flower week from 22nd to 25th February. On 22nd February, they made a paper flower with the help of their art and craft teacher. On 24th February, they made flower headbands and on 25th February, their teachers showed and explained them about different types of flowers. Last but not the least; they also recorded a video explaining why they love flower while holding the paper flowers and wearing the self made head band. When we talk about activity oriented teaching, this is what we really mean. Simple concept of flowers can be taught very innovatively to the children which leaves a long lasting impact on their minds. Through such activities, audio-visual learning, concept enforcement, motor skills development and fun-learning happen at the same time.

At G.D.Goenka Public School, Purnea students are always engaged in activities which help them enhance their speaking skills, confidence and personality. Every month one class gets a chance to become the video jockey and perform in our show called “Khatti Meethi Baatein”. The students engage themselves in an activity of speaking during this show. They participate in it enthusiastically by speaking like their favourite VJ’s. While performing, students learn and improve their speaking skills, script writing, time management and implementation of electronic media, etc. This is just another initiative by our school to make strong and outspoken leaders of tomorrow. PARENT TESTIMONIAL Hello, I am Dr.Abha, mother of Arav of class U.K.G. As we bid aideu to the dreadful year 2020. I would like to appreciate the efforts of the school’s administration and teachers for keeping things going in such challenging times. Conducting online classes for kids is very tough and the concept is also new for all of us. The new interactive online classes that has been started keeps my child connected with the teachers, classmate and also he has started taking more interest in his classes. STUDENT TESTIMONIAL Hello! I as a student of GD Goenka, Purnea would love to share my experience and feelings about the education and activities taking place in our school. We all know that most of the time during this session, all the classes, activities and even the events took place online. Teaching online is obviously not an easy task but there is no doubt in saying that all our teachers gave their utmost attention and helped us through this time. All the concepts were well taught to me and doubts were cleared too. Now, with the permission of the government, our school has been opened and many of the students from grade 6-9 are attending offline classes. Our school also gives us the option of online mode considering the opinions of students and parents. They are very cooperative which is really sweet of them. This session turned out to be a little different but I’m still happy that my studies weren’t disturbed and everything went well just because of the hard work of our principal and faculty. I am grateful to have such facilities from our school. Thankyou! Riya Doulani, 7B

PARENT TESTIMONIAL Greetings to all! This is a parent sharing her thoughts about the working of the school. I have always been satisfied by the steps taken by this school and even during the lockdown, the teachers did everything so perfectly. I am glad that even the co-curricular activities which I thought wouldn’t be able to be done this year came through the online mode. This is really fascinating that the school found ways to do all the things which were done before like the assemblies, Esperanza, workshops etc. The school is now opened for grade 6-7 which is really a positive news. It’s good that all the precautions are also being taken. My child is not facing any difficulties in her studies and she is enjoying too which matters the most. I completely believe that whatever the school does is for the betterment of the students. I hope that the effort of teachers and the management in everything gets even better in the upcoming days. Thank-you! Regards, Asha Doulani Mother of Riya Doulani
