International Yoga Day On 21st June 2018 “International Yoga day” was celebrated in our school at 9 am to create an awareness on the physical and mental well – being among teachers, students and their parents. Keeping in view the situation of COVID 19 , the session was conducted virtually on MS.Teams platform. All the students of KG to Grade VIII had participated in the ‘International Yoga day’. Our teacher Mr. Ritesh Tambakuwala conducted the session, he started with explaining the information about ‘Yoga day’. Then the attendees were instructed to follow the steps of yoga. During this session, yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation were practised. All the students were excited and energetic. We all celebrated the day with a lot of eagerness and joy. It was a very interesting Day for all of us. The experience we got was really amazing and important.

International Yoga Day

Ice Cream Day Summer season can be personified as everyone’s never- ending love for ice cream. G.D. Goenka Public School, Purnea marked the onset of this special season by celebrating the Ice-cream Day on 3rd July 2021. Our KG kids wrote ‘Ice cream Day’ on a chart paper and pasted it on a wall as their background for the video. They were asked to choose any one fruit among mango/litchi/watermelon. They choose one and made delicious fruit popsicles. They also made an ice cream craft with the help of their art & craft teacher and held it while speaking few lines on the popsicles. The day was full of excitement, zeal and everything pertaining to the yummy sugary treat.

This competition was devised with a view of bringing awareness and instilling the thought of restoring the resources of nature. Students showcased their creativity and artistic skills by making beautiful bags, designing them and captioning it beautifully. They used different types of papers to make the bag and other decorative items to decorate it vibrantly. They enjoyed the competition as it was done with full zeal and enthusiasm.

Reading Competition As per CBSE guideline the school had organized a Reading Competition to celebrate the Reading Week, to honor P. N Panicker, the father of library movement. On this occasion an online competition was held on 10th of July 2021. In this competition, students were asked to read a part of book and they were judged on the basis of pronunciation, fluency, speech clarity and expression. At the end of the competition the teacher had selected 3 best students from each class for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position.













Workshop on Health & Hygiene during Covid19 Three workshops were organized by G D GOENKA PUBLIC SCHOOL, PURNEA. Workshop was organized on Health and Hygiene during COVID- 19 situation. One was especially for the students of Grade I to V students and the purpose of this session is to prepare the students to cope up with the COVID -19,Pandemic. The students also learnt different skills and techniques of personal health and Hygiene. The second session was for the students of Adolescent girls and third session for adolescent boys. The aim or purpose of this session is to prepare the students to cope up with the COVID -19,Pandemic and to give information and knowledge about adolescent and puberty. During teen age the students also learn different skills and techniques of personal health and Hygiene. The participants of the workshop had a wonderful experience with various activities and breathing exercises. There were discussions in between and at the end of the session in which the doubts and queries of participants were resolved. Students felt very happy and assured to join counseling workshops like this in future in GDGPSP.

Investiture Ceremony The Investiture ceremony was conducted virtually over MS Teams on 14 July, 2021 with lots of zeal and zest at GD Goenka Public School, Purnea. It commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by Ganesh Vandana. The elected Leaders’ profiles were displayed on the Screen. They were conferred with badges and sashes by Honourable Chairman Sir, Vice-Chairman Sir, Principal Ma’am, Administrator Sir and Worthy teachers. The students’ council took the pledge to hold the school motto of Loyalty, Truth and Honour in high esteem. Our chief guest Mr. Daya Shankar SP Purnea congratulated them and suggested them to be impartial and honest in discharging their duties. The Chairman Sir, Vice-Chairman Sir and Principal Ma’am also appreciated and congratulated them. They advised them to be role models and extended a supporting hand to the students’ council for the smooth running of the school. The function concluded with the National Anthem.

Investiture Ceremony .

Creative Writing Competition CBSE in collaboration with NCERT organized a creative writing competition for the students of grade 6 to 10 to celebrate the 400th Birth Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. The competition was organized at 3 levels i.e. school, regional and national. The first level of the competition was arranged in the school and the students were divided into two categories and the topics were given by CBSE. The details of category, writing form and topics for school level competition are given below. Category Creative Writing Form Theme  Paragraph (100–150 A. For words) a. Childhood of Guru Tegh Bahadur Students of  Essay (400 – 500 ji b. Transformation Classes 6 to 9 words) of Tyag Mal to Tegh Bahadur  Poem B. For  Paragraph (150-200 Students of Classes 9 and words) a. Life of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji 10  Essay (500- 700 b. Establishment of Anandpur words) Sahib  Poem Category wise groups were made on MS Teams and the children were asked to submit their compositions by 20th July in the respective Teams groups. The entries were judged and the winners were finalized by Mr.Ritesh. The names of the winners are mentioned below. Story telling Competition Storytelling is a unique human skill shared amongst people far and wide. It opens up the vivid imagination that runs wild in children and it also builds confidence and enhances speaking skills. The KG section of GD Goenka Public School, Purnea organized an online storytelling competition on MS Teams platform on 17th July 2021. The kids wrote ‘Story Telling Competition’ on a chart paper and pasted it on the wall as their background for the story telling video. They performed spectacularly narrating their favourite stories using creative props, voice modulation and impressive expressions. The stories were adjudged on the basis of speech clarity, pronunciation, expression and gesture of the children. They were rewarded with the certificate of 1st position, 2nd position, 3rd position, participation and consolation. The little story tellers won everyone’s heart and were applauded.



CBSE EXPRESSION SERIES: CHARTING INDIA’S PROGRESS@75 20TH JULY, FOR GRADE III TO X To inculcate the habit of reading, writing and art integration as a cross-curricular pedagogical approach among the school students, CBSE had organised a paragraph writing and painting competition for the students of grade 3 to grade 10. The category and topics were provided by CBSE. The details of the same are mentioned below: Students were instructed to send their entries on *20th July '21 by 5:00PM* in their respective MDCP group and the judges were asked to select a winner from each category.

Winners for each category ( Painting and Paragraph writing /Poem ) are as follows Secondary (Class 9 & 10) - Essay (700 words) - Yamish Kumar. Grade - 9A. Secondary (Class 9 & 10 ) - Painting - Nishka Agarwal .Grade – 10 A. Middle ( Class 6 to 8 ) - Eassy ( 400words) - Upanya Prachi . Grade 7A. Middle ( Class 6 to 8 ) - Painting : Aarika Bhaskar – Grade 6 A. Primary (Class 3 to 5 ) - Paragraph ( 150 words) - Prayan Gautam. Grade – 5B. Primary ( Class 3 to 5 ) - Painting - Kriti Agarwal . Grade - 4 A . This offered a platform to the young minds for expressing their ideas in the form of writing and painting. The event indeed enhanced the confidence of children by giving them an opportunity to not only ponder upon the current situation but also express themselves in an exemplary manner.

GK QUIZ FOR KG “Knowledge is a treasure but practice is the key to it.” To engage and enlighten the students, A General Knowledge Quiz Competition was organised on MS Teams platform for the students of KG section on 26th July 2021. Each student were given a specific time slot and five questions were displayed on the screen by the teacher. The students were supposed to answer the questions in the given time. They were adjudged on the basis of clarity , pronunciation, number of questions answered and accuracy. They were rewarded with the certificate of 1st position, 2nd position, 3rd position, participation and consolation. Such competitions increase knowledge and competitive spirit among the students.
