HIGHER>STRONGER>BRIGHTER

ROAD SAFETY DAY Road crashes are one of the biggest dangers to young people worldwide. Being part of a Road Safety Special assembly is a great way to educate children, young people and parents about the dangers on roads, how we can all take steps to be safer and how adults can protect children from such disasters. Our KG kids celebrated Road Safety Day by performing a special assembly wherein they wore a dress which had the colours of a traffic light. They drew traffic lights and zebra crossing on a chart paper. They also spoke a few lines on traffic lights and zebra crossing while standing on the same zebra crossing that they made. This is how we took an initiative to raise awareness about the importance of road safety.

ROAD SAFETY DAY “SAFETY IS NOT JUST A SLOGAN, IT IS A WAY OF LIFE” The Road Safety Week is a national event which is aimed at raising public awareness about traffic rules and to reduce the number of road accidents that occur daily. GDGPSP organized the Road Safety campaign and celebrated it with a special assembly. All the students from each grade presented their special assembly on the same topic. They made an attempt to create awareness by sensitizing students towards the importance of safety while driving and walking on the roads by celebrating road safety day. The assembly started with universal prayer, pledge and news. It was followed by speech on the importance of following the traffic rules. The students discussed issues of rash driving, drunken driving and road rage with special mention about minor driving. They also discussed the immediate causes and traumatic effects of impulsive behaviour of the people on roads. The importances of obeying rules while travelling on the roads and the rules for pedestrians were also highlighted. The aim of this activity was to be concerned about people and their lives and not take it for granted. Students were sensitized to the issue of road safety to make them responsible road users. The number of deaths because of road accidents is increasing at a fast rate in India. Our children, who are the future of the nation, are passionate about reiterating the importance of following road safety rules putting them across strongly to the people around them. We are happy to initiate this drive. THE SAFETY WEEK INSPIRED STUDENTS TO ACT RESPONSIBLY ON THE ROAD.

ROAD SAFETY DAY

DENTAL HYGIENE DAY Oral health demands care every day as it comprises our precious whites and the tongue – the machines that do the job of chewing and tasting the food and often also bear the brunt of unhealthy eating choices. To make our KG kids aware about the importance of dental hygiene, our school GDGPSP celebrated Dental Hygiene Day. They enacted a skit about the benefits of brushing teeth regularly and avoiding chocolates and junk food. A dentist delivered a speech on the importance of dental hygiene. Our students got an idea about the importance of dental hygiene and the best ways to take care of it.

Our KG kids performed a special assembly on the occasion of Lohri with great zest and enthusiasm. The assembly began with a universal prayer song followed by pledge, theme song and jolly phonics. The main attraction of the assembly was the beautiful dance performance on Lohri songs by our KG kids. May the Lohri fire burn all the moments of sadness and bring warmth, joy, happiness and love into our lives. LOHRI AND MAKAR SANKRANTI CELEBRATION

LOHRI AND MAKAR SANKRANTI CELEBRATION “The greatness of a culture is found in its festivals.” To make our kids aware about the culture and traditions, the students of GDGPSP celebrated the festival of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. They performed a special assembly which started with a universal prayer, pledge, and news followed by different activities like special dance on Lohri and Makar Sankranti, songs and a speech on the significance of this festival. GDGPSP also organised a bonfire and kite flying festival at the school campus for the students and parents. The event was successfully organised by taking proper precautions keeping in mind the current situation of Covid19. Our Chairman addressed the parents, wished them and also shared his views on the importance of the festival. He also announced about the partnership with Impulse Kota to provide the best facilities to the children of Purnea and Katihar. Students enjoyed dancing around the bonfire and flying kites. They were also served delicious festival delicacies. The program was enjoyed and appreciated by everyone.

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATION Book Week was celebrated from 18th January to 22nd January. Our KG kids have been doing different activities to celebrate book week and understand the importance of reading. They wrote ‘Book week Celebration’ on a chart paper and pasted it on a wall as their background for every book week video. The celebration commenced on 18th January by an introductory speech on importance of book reading by KG Head-Ms. Indrani Mukherjee. On 19th January, two stories were sent to the kids wherein they read any one story and recorded a video telling the moral of the story. On 20th January, three bed time stories were sent to the kids by the teachers wherein they read any one story and recorded a video telling what they understood from the story. 21st January They were sent two fairy tales wherein they read any one fairy tale according to their preference and recorded a video telling what they understood from the tale. 22nd January This was the closing day of our book week celebration where they made a library at their home showcasing all the different types of story books they have. They also recorded a video explaining about their book collection.

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATION

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATION The Book Week was celebrated on the virtual platform this year. Had our school been in offline mode, our students would have participated in a number of activities like every year. Some may have expressed themselves creatively through interpretation of the book that they read through pictures, some would have made book jackets and some would have expressed themselves through prose or poetry. But isn't it amazing how the students have adapted themselves as per the situation or we can call it the limitation of this lockdown. All the students expressed themselves through the virtual platform. GDGPSP kids celebrated book week to realise the pleasure of reading books. The book week commenced with the inauguration video by the class teachers who provided information to the students about inculcating the value and benefits of reading books. Various interesting activities and competitions related to books and reading were organised throughout the week. It was done to encourage the students to become avid readers and to explore these treasure houses of deep knowledge.

BOOK WEEK CELEBRATION

ONLINE PTM Through parent-teacher meetings, parents and teachers can make a bond and cooperate with each other for the betterment of our children. With the help of online classes, daily communications are taking place digitally rather than face to face, the PTM was also organised on the virtual platform this year. An online PTM was conducted on 16th January on MS Teams platform. It was a huge success with parents appreciating the school’s effort in keeping the students engaged. Parents were informed by the teachers about their child’s performance and progress in academics, and at the same time, parents helped the teachers understand the child and the teachers helped them improve in case they are lacking in any area. Parents were also assured that sincere efforts are being taken by the school and the teachers in providing quality education to the children.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION Republic Day is celebrated every year to honour the day when the constitution of India came into full power from 26th January 1950, from then, we started this tradition of celebrating 26th January as Republic Day which is a national holiday. India’s 72nd Republic Day was celebrated virtually on MS Teams platform with great enthusiasm and reverence at GDGPSP. Our KG Students drew the flag of India on a chart paper and pasted it on a wall as their background of the video. They also sent a video of March-past and delivered a speech on the importance of Republic Day. They made handmade flags using chart paper and colours. They also played the song ‘Vande Mataram’ and held their self made flags.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION Grade 1 to 9 Students of GDGPS, Purnea performed role-play and dance on the patriotic song, sang the song and delivered a patriotic speech on the importance of the day. Our primary school students showcased a fancy dress show and dressed like a national leader to honour them. The performance by the students made all bow in allegiance to the brave freedom fighters who laid their lives for the Motherland, a perfect tribute to our motherland. The Goenkans thus celebrated this auspicious day by remembering those legends that sacrificed their lives for our well- being. Today we are proud of our nation’s achievements and look ahead to a bright future for our country. In a nut shell, it was an event with memories worth cherishing.

PARENT TESTIMONIAL Hi I am Sulekha kumari mother of Siddharth Arya. I want to express my views regarding the performance of my son Siddharth Arya. I am very thankful to faculty members and Principal ma’am of G.D. Goenka pubic school for their endless effort towards online classes. My son has become quite good in comparison to previous year. Online classes give me opportunity to enjoy more quality time with my son.Day by day my ward is becoming the best version of himself. Making of juice, Freezing Fog winter camp 2020, Christmas day celebration, etc are such activities which improve intelligence, IQ level and make my child more active and responsible towards his liabilities. During this pandemic this distance learning and curricular activities are really appreciated. But my personal suggestion is that students should have basic meditation and moral classes of at least 5 minutes. This minor time will make a major positive change. Thank you With regards Sulekha kumari Mother of Siddharth Arya

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL The online classes were new and a necessity during the time of covid. I am a new student and is not much aware of the environment of the school but during the time of admission I was thrilled about the experience which I would have encountered at school. But covid gave us a set back by setting our lives in isolation. Whatever I have experienced through online classes about school is amazing. It tries to keep us on track in every aspect. It was a great learning experience through visuals ppts, videos, audio visual programme, quizzes etc. It is great to be here at GD Goenka Public School Thank you. Aarna Tomar Class 6 A

PARENT TESTIMONIAL Learning during Covid Situation was something which was a serious question in parent’s mind. But online classes came to rescue us. The new normal in education is the increased use of online learning tool which was well used at GDGPSP. We are new to Goenkan family as my daughter has taken admission in this session but she was well taken care of. Teachers were always available for students and we never missed their presence. Through AV aids, ppts, exams they were always around helping us to cope with the situation. Thanks to the whole GDGPSP team. Regards, Anamika Singh Parent of Aarna Tomar
