Qualcomm India Private Limited—Bangalore Design Centre MARCH 2016 Report—Assignment 1

INTRODUCTION—YLP BATCH 2015-2016What is Young Leaders Program?In its 4th Edition, the flagship program of BDC—the Rotation Program—was re-introduced as‘Young Leaders Program’ for the batch of 2015 RCGs. Every year this program consists of 10RCGs who work in 3 teams over a period of 14 months – one team from each domain – front-end, back-end and post-silicon. This year, an application & selection framework was introducedto create more buy-in from theparticipants and 9 Engineers wereselected to be a part of YoungLeaders Program (YLP). They arecollectively called the YLP Fellows.Sachi continues to be the guidinglead and sponsor of the programalong with Sriram Satakopan,Anand Bhat and Raghu Babuplaying an active role in driving various activities of the program. Other YLP Council Membersare Viji Ranganna, Sai Ganapathy and Siddesh Halavarthi.In addition to the rechristening, based on the feedback received from previous batches, some keychanges were introduced: Creation of a robust selection process for getting admission into the program, which includes SOP application, résumé review and personal interviews with YLP Council Members; this led to having more enthusiastic & engaged participants in the Program in comparison to the previous batches, who were allotted Rotation Program at the time of onboarding without a choice Supervisor orientation at the beginning of team assignments to set clear expectations with the managers who would coach YLP Fellows Spacing the duration of each rotation in such a manner that the YLP Fellows will join their full-time teams at the beginning of the performance cycle Feedback documentation post each rotation from supervisors as well as the direct reports; this would be the reference point for performance appraisals Solicitation of feedback about the supervisors after each rotation Closure meetings post each rotation with presentations on their project by YLP Fellows, Q&A, and thank you note for supervisors Introduction of program Logo and slogan to create a sense of association and team spiritThe Young Leaders Program continues the essence of the Rotation Program, while addingflexibility and dynamism to the selection process and assignments. In this program, we hope togo on inspiring and producing the leaders of the industry at an early age, through its motto:“Learn. Leap. Lead”.

FIRST ASSIGNMENT—EXPERIENCESThe first assignment of YLP 2015 saw the Fellows work on innovative and exciting projects.Working for 4 months (10th August to 14th December), they developed their profiles andgained a broad knowledge about the operation of their teams, leading to four Fellows achievinga Qualstar for their efforts.
