FOREWORD N owadays, people are more enticed to read materials with captivating visuals, while publications utilize this to capture engagements rather than the content itself. The majority are much more focused on these that many seem to overlook a magazine’s main objective—to entertain, educate, and inform the audience; and it’s about time that readers are reminded of such. We, at La Estrella Verde (LEV), always consider the quality of our craft, dedicated in serving the DLSU-D High School students with credible information that is both substantial and enjoyable. With the pandemic still stretching as far as the present, we do not perceive this predicament as a setback but an opportunity for our student publication to adapt and still exhibit its responsibilities for the community. No matter the circumstance, LEV is proud to be able to keep pursuing what they have always stood for—being the Upholders of Truth and Heralds of Change. With that said, it is with utmost pleasure that we finally introduce the third issue of Eunoia. For this year’s edition, we invite you to explore into the depths of the four suits within this work. While it may not seem as much to the naked eye, each concept bears the representation of those voicing out and those who still wish to be heard. The bliss of the past, the evolution of perception, one’s virtue, and one’s state of mind; each tale signifies each individual’s take on life’s value. Love. Knowledge. Worth. Judgement. EDITOR’S NOTE H ere before your eyes are the stories we have heard for you to be felt. Behold, you might find yourself within these pages.We present to you the third issue of Eunoia, where the emblems of life embody each and every one of us. The four suits hold countless connotations from the ancient age until the very now and we are here to make a coalition out of its nuance. Seek through the curves and corners of each suit—the love in the childhood of hearts, the knowledge in the youth of clubs, the worth in the maturity of diamonds, and the judgement in the old age of spades. A prodigy beyond words, this magazine wishes to imprint the best discernment on the essence of living. As how we are fond to look out for others, breathe, and you’ll recognize how your life holds the most value in your own history. Let your existence feel any of its miles, whatever phase you are in as you read through these pieces. And by then, the greater you can be for anyone else. After all, it is what Eunoia is, for it holds the will of nurturing a beautiful thinking. After you turn the page, nothing would be in your vision if not for the people who went past their limits for this issue to happen. A wise fellow is intelligent enough to learn an individual’s capacity, and a clever one can understand that everyone only has one chance to live freely. Though working the mind intensely seems brilliant and astonishing, what if the body’s limit is the collateral for all the intelligence acquired? SOMEWHERE ALONG THE track to success is a determined individual, chasing after each checkpoint. Consuming every bit of energy and neglecting the scream of the body longing for rest. Their lips begin trembling and yet they keep going because stopping isn’t on the list—but at what cost? It’s time to take a different path for a moment and ease off from the stress with these personal care tips on maintaining peace after running through a hasty road of school works. 01 Step 1: Revive your withered hobbies Amid students’ tight schedules, it’s difficult to squeeze in the outlets that channel their creative energy. The hobbies that brought light into their lives would get lost under all the responsibilities they’d always prioritize, as to why the world may start feeling gray. Needless to say, life isn’t just as interesting when days are solely composed of tasks waiting to get done. Bring color back into your life by choosing to rekindle with an old passion that was lost in all the chaos. The spark in one’s lives—so to speak. Try different genres and shake your senses with horror, fall in love in the world of romance, burst and shed tears from laughter with comedy, or unlock that conclusive part of your mind in crime and investigation. Lean back, relax, and let entertainment be part of your weekend getaway to step out from reality for a time. Step 4: Escape the headaches 04 With the unending number of responsibilities clamoring for one’s attention, sometimes, a good ol’ shut-eye is what they’re missing.
