from stars executive director, julie taulmanIt is often said that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations. My son’s roadthrough cancer and paraplegia, as difficult as it was, is a great example. While Inever wanted him to experience all that he did, it brought us to Steamboat and me toSTARS. Our client’s stories are similar, many are ones of tragedy and triumph witha common thread of needing something to help them build hope. STARS providesthat hope and helps our clients find the beautiful destinations in their lives. Providing STARS Leadershiphope through adaptive recreation changed my life and I know it has changed the Julie Taulmanlives of so many of our clients. It is the reason STARS exists and it is the reason we Executive Directorkeep pressing forward as we know that there are so many more clients that are on adifficult road and need to find hope and healing through recreation. Joel Berman Deputy Executive DirectorI feel that difficult road describes this last year for STARS. As we rolled into 2017excited to celebrate our 10th year of operation we found ourselves on a difficult road Brett Maulwith staffing transitions internally. While it made for a challenging end to our 2016/17 Program Directorfiscal year, I am proud to say that we never wavered from our commitment to serve Ty Perryour clients and fulfill our mission. Program CoordinatorAs we look to the next fiscal year, we are grateful for new and returning experienced Lisa Evansstaff and volunteers, the STARS Ranch under construction, and a renewed sense of Client & Donor Relationsexcitement seeing the STARS Align within our organization.- Julie Taulman, STARS Executive Director Megan Rayle Marketing Manager
