Annual Report 2017-18 • A programme ‘Deep Dharohar’ was organized at IGNCA, New Delhi to reclaim the lost classical and folk traditions of Deepawali.690 students from various schools and NGOs of Delhi participated in this programme. Two educational visits of National Gallery of Modern Arts were also organized for the students. • Workshop on ‘Creative Activities’ was organized at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Odisha from December 14-19, 2017. 1883 students participated and learnt \"Songs in National Languages\", Folk Dances, Theatre and Crafts like Beads work, Paper Craft, Solapith, Natural Waste, Tie & Dye, Straw Work, Terracotta, Book Binding, Sikki Grass, Mask Making, Pattachitra etc. during this programme. • 54 students from Kolhapur, Maharashtra also visited CCRT, New Delhi on December 22, 2017 and were made aware of Acquiring skills to perform Indian Culture through lecture-demonstration. During the period from April 2017 to March 2018, under Extension Services and Community Feedback Programmes CCRT has organized 08 Educational visits and 270 workshops under which total 69183 number of students have been trained at CCRT Headquarter and other CCRT Regional Centres, i.e. Udaipur, Hyderabad and Guwahati. Annual Report 2017-18 Collection of Resources The CCRT collects material on the arts and crafts of the country in the form of audio recordings, slides, photographs, films and written texts in order to enrich the content of the Educational Kit and provide educational material to teacher trainees and other research students on the arts of India. The areas to be documented by CCRT are chosen with a view to create an interest among students in the culture of various regions of the country and develop a sense of appreciation for the diversity and continuity of cultural traditions. The main objectives of CCRT’s documentation team are: • Production of educational material on various aspects of Indian Culture: • Educational Kit which includes audio-visual materials and written texts; • Publications on Cultural Education. • Setting up of an Archive of Cultural Resources for research scholars; • Distribution of materials on Cultural Education to schools from where teachers have been trained. 1. Annual Report 2017-18 Production of Educational Material The CCRT has been preparing a variety of materials on Cultural Education in the form of audio visuals and printed material. The material is given to schools from where teachers have been trained to use these in a variety of teaching and learning situations in the school for curriculum teaching and extension work. Besides this, the material is now available on sale also at CCRT head office and its Regional Centres. National Cultural Audiovisual Archives (NCAA) IGNCA has been entrusted by the Ministry of Culture for the setting up of National Cultural Audiovisual Archives (NCAA). The primary objective of NCAA Project is to identify and preserve the cultural heritage of India available in audiovisual form in governmental & non-governmental institutions across the country through a process of digitisation and making it accessible to the people. The project is intended to be implemented through partnering Institutions whose select audiovisual holdings will be included as a part of this project. It is envisaged that a dedicated website and a virtual network of the repositories of all Partnering Institutions is created offering online access to their select audiovisual holdings. The genres to be covered include oral traditions, crafts, dance, music and theatrical practices, cultural practices and traditional knowledge systems. Finally, implementing outreach and awareness programmes and building capacity in conservation, cataloguing, digitisation and retrieval of audiovisual materials is also a major thrust area of the project and now the 725 audio spools have been digitized. Educational Kit The Educational Kit consisting of audio-visual materials and publications of CCRT is provided to the institutions from where the teachers have been trained. The Kit is issued after evaluating the performance of the participating teacher(s) specifically in two training programmes i.e. Orientation Course and the Workshop on Role of Puppetry in Education. The institutions which are provided with an Educational Kit by CCRT are duly instructed to send regular half-yearly reports on the use of the material of the Kit in their classrooms, in other institutions and for the community. Annual Report 2017-18 Publications The CCRT publications aim at providing an understanding and appreciation of different aspects of Indian art and culture. They also highlight the influence of nature on artistic expression so as to develop an understanding of the impact of environment on cultural manifestations. On successful participation in the training programmes, the participants are issued these publications for use in their institutions, nearby schools and public at large. Mohiniyattam literally interpreted as the dance of 'Mohini' - the celestial enchantress of the Hindu mythology, is the classical solo dance form of Kerala. CCRT has published a book on 'Chamba' written by Shri Sudarshan Vashisth. Srivastava, Joint Secretary, MoC and Dr. Mahesh Sharma Director, CCRT Cultural Talent Search Scholarship (CTSS) Scheme The Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme aims at providing facilities to selected meritorious young children to develop their talents in various performing, visual & literary art fields. Children in the age group of 10 to 14 years studying either in recognized schools or belonging to families practicing traditional art forms, are selected for the scholarships. The scholarship awarded under the Scheme is initially for two years and is renewable after every two years till the completion of the first University degree stage of education or upto the age of 20 years, whichever is earlier subject to the awardee maintaining satisfactory progress. The CCRT provides 650 new scholarships every year, out of which 100 scholarships are reserved for Tribal Culture/ST students. Special emphasis is given to arts and crafts which are on the verge of extinction. 125 scholarships are reserved for the children of families practicing traditional art forms. 20 scholarships are reserved for differently abled (Divyang) children and 30 Scholarships are reserved for Creative Writing /Literary Arts. 509 new scholarships were offered to the meritorious children during the year 2017-18 on the basis of interviews/ tests conducted by the Regional Selection Committees consisting of eminent artists, erudite scholars and senior Gurus in various parts of the country. 60

Annual Report 2017-18 Statewise break-up of Scholarships awarded under CTSSS 1982-2018 Tapping the potential of children in creative learning Cultural Festival on ‘Unity in Diversity’ for Scholarship-holders The main goal of these festivals is to create an understanding of the concept of EK BHARAT-SHRESHTA BHARAT as well as about aesthetic and cultural values in order to appreciate and understand the creative expressions of mankind through the ages. In the Festivals, special efforts are made to involve the youth in cultural developments, to inculcate in them a spirit of harmony and togetherness and to channelize youthful energy in creative and productive pursuits. The students interact with eminent Gurus and erudite scholars and practice under their guidance to give multi-disciplinary cultural presentations in an integrated manner during the Festival. They are also taken on educational tours to places of cultural, historical and natural importance during the programmes to show how our heritage has inspired the creative genius of the performing, visual & literary artists and to motivate them for making efforts to conserve our heritage at regional levels. Annual Report 2017-18 Scheme of “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural Fields” The Scheme for “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural Fields” has also been transferred to CCRT partially under which 400 scholarships are provided in the age group of 18 to 25 years in the field of Indian Classical Music, Classical Dances, Light Classical Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Folk/ Traditional and Indigenous Arts. Each scholar is paid ` 5000/- (` Five thousand only) per month for a period of two years to cover his/her living expenses on travelling, books, art material or other equipment and tuition or training charges etc. 5110 applications were received online for the year 2016-17 & 2017-18. The interviews/tests for the award of Scholarships to Young Artistes for the years 2016-17 & 2017-18 were successfully conducted in the month of March, 2018. 1666 applicants for the year 2016-17 appeared in the Interviews/Test and 310 got selected for award of scholarships. 3444 applicants for the year 2017-18 appeared in the Interviews/Tests and 317 got selected for the award of scholarships. Fellowship Scheme for the “Award of Fellowship to Outstanding Persons in the Field of Culture\" The CCRT is implementing the scheme titled \"The Fellowship Scheme for the Award of Fellowship to outstanding persons in the Field of Culture\". Under this Scheme 200 each of the Junior and Senior Fellows are selected. Awardees are paid grant money @ Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 20,000/- per month respectively for a period of two years. The focus of this scheme is on \"in-depth study/ research\" in various facets of culture. These include new emerging areas of Cultural Studies. For the year 2016-17, 178 candidates were selected for Junior Fellows and 133 candidates were selected for Senior Fellows. Similarly, for the year 2017-18, 192 candidates were selected for Junior Fellows and 176 candidates were selected for Senior Fellows. Encouraging cultural identities Workshop on “Enhancing the Teaching Skills & Syllabus Development of Creative Writing/Literary Arts” A Workshop titled “Enhancing the Teaching Skills & Syllabus Development of Creative Writing/Literary Arts” at CCRT Campus, New Delhi was conducted from March 19 to 23, 2018 in which 35 participants including Gurus & teachers as well as their respective CCRT Scholarship holders getting specialized training in the field of Creative Writing/Literary Arts from all over India participated. Several practical sessions involving the participants in variety of Creative activities, educational tour to Centres of Learning such as Children Book Trust (CBT), National Bal Bhawan (NBB) & National School of Drama (NSD), presenting & sharing creative work amongst others etc. were highlights of the Workshops. Annual Report 2017-18 Initiatives in the North-Eastern States From ancient times, India’s North-East has been the meeting place of many communities, faith and cultures. In order to build up a pervasive conciousness of the rich natural and cultural heritage of North-East region, including Sikkim through the utilization of students in the conservation of our heritage, the CCRT organized Workshops in different North-Eastern States. The primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary school teachers from all parts of the country were introduced to innovative methods in classroom teaching using specific art forms and traditional crafts of this region. This is an ongoing process and few important CEPs under consideration are with Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Portugal, Netherland, Russia, Turkey, France, South Korea, Belarus, BRICS States, Australia, Guyana, Italy, Ukraine, Myanmar and Egypt. Cultural Mapping of India The Ministry of Culture, Government of India has initiated an ambitious Pilot Project to carry out survey on cultural topography of the country. CCRT’s role in this Project is to collate and utilize the existing data of artists of various genres and the NGOs engaged in propagation of cultural manifestation available with Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Sangeet Natak Akademi, National School of Drama, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Lalit Kala Akademi, Zonal Cultural Centres, Anthropological Survey of India and other organizations under Ministry of Culture. During the year 2017-18 source data of Artists profiles has been collected through CCRT in-service teachers, Teacher Educators and Administrators from across India as well as other NGO's and also including cultural awareness programmes out of the data collected in 5 Blocks on Pilot basis in CMI Project. Excel entry of approx. 21,000 artists is ready at the back end of CCRT for uploading on the portal. 68

Annual Report 2017-18 Progress in the use of Hindi in the CCRT In implementing the Official Language Policy, CCRT has taken specific steps to achieve the targets. Most of the work in CCRT is done bilingually. All correspondence related to Training, Evaluation, Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme, Accounts, Publications and Production Units are done bilingually. All the performa, notes, reports, guide-books and educational material are bilingual. The CCRT celebrated “Hindi Maah” from September 14 to October 13, 2017 at headquarter, New Delhi. During the “Hindi Maah” competitive programmes on various themes were organized for the staff.The winners were given prizes and certificates. “Hindi Pakhwara” was organized in Regional Centres Udaipur, Hyderabad and Guwahati. During the year 2017-18, three Hindi Workshops and a Rajbhasha Sangoshthy were organized for the staff by CCRT in which two workshops were organized at headquarter, New Delhi and one at Regional Centre, Guwahati. 68 officers/employees including teachers participated in these Workshops. Celebrating Hindi Maah During 2017-18 about 3,991 teachers from various parts of the country were acquainted with official language policy of the Union in 62 training programmes by conducting a separate lecture in each training programme. 66,659 students were acquainted with various art forms through hindi medium. A small booklet on the official language policy was prepared by the CCRT and was also distributed to the teachers for the purpose of propagation of hindi. Four meetings of Rajbhasha Committee were held on June 22, September 13, December 28, 2017 and March 20, 2018 respectively. E-Governance CCRT's Website www.ccrtindia.gov.in is being upgraded regularly. Reading room section has been introduced in the website which currently has selected articles from National Seminar on Culture and Development organized by CCRT. Work on Hindi website is in progress. The CCRT has made its presence felt through facebook linked to its website www.ccrtindia.gov.in. It not only showcases CCRT’s activities and its achievements but also provides a platform for interaction with teaching community, scholarship holders, public at large on a global basis.
