Devotion Week 2: 14th February 2021 Theme: The Word of God Is Alive and Active Hymn: God’s Word is the Bible God’s Word is the Bible, The Bible is God’s Word It’s living and active in us today, sharper than a two-edged sword So we’re gonna get it open, we’re gonna see what it says We’re gonna let God speak into our lives Will we do it? The answer’s YES! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=senuUz-j9zA Hebrews 4:12(NIV) “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” God’s Word is alive and active for God still speaks to us today and every-day through His Word. There is something about the Living Word that can penetrate deep into our innermost and expose us for who we really are and what we are not. Nothing can be hidden from God. For the Word of God is like a double-edged sword that could cut through the tough defence we put up to lay bare our vulnerable self. That’s why we have to pay careful attention to the penetrating power of God’s Word and allow Him to complete the work he has begun in us. Reflect: • In what way has God’s Word been “alive and active” in your life? • Are you letting God speak to you about the true condition of your faith? • Would you consider to engage in God’s Word at a deeper level? Prayer: Our heavenly Father, we thank you that your Word is alive and active and sharper than any double-edged sword. We thank you for how it penetrates deeply and judges the thoughts and attitudes of my heart. We pray Lord you help us to set aside our defences and come to you humbly to be changed, moulded and shaped into your likeness, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
