Family Devotion 2021-11-07 To let go but dwell in God's loving words of wisdom - My son, keep your Father's commandment and forsake not your mother's teaching. (Proverbs 6:20 ESV) The book of Proverbs places supreme value upon the family. A family is made up of a father and a mother, with a child or children. Both parents must share in the spiritual training of their children (read Proverbs 1:8-9 and 4:1-5). Wise children will obey and honor their parents.(read 1:8; 2:1; 3:1 and 10:1) Marital faithfulness and mutual love are exalted and for God's blessing, put Him first. As parents prepare their sons or daughters for life in the world, parents must encourage, educate, equip them to memorize and hide God's word in their hearts that they might not sin against Him. (Psalms 119:11) Parents are told, \"Someday, your children will move out. They will be on their own, and you will have to let them go.\" That is true, but letting go is not a one-time act; it is an ongoing process throughout their lifetime. But, what does letting go mean on a daily basis? Chuck Swindoll describes it best \"The Grace Awakening,\" 1990, pp. 146-47. To let go does not mean to stop caring; it means I cannot do it for someone else. To let go is not to cut myself off; it is the realization that I cannot control another. To let go is not to enable but to allow learning from natural consequences. To let go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands. To let go is not to try to change or blame another; I can only change myself. To let go is not to care for, but to care about. To let go is not to fix but to be supportive. To let go is not to judge but to allow another to be a human being. To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect the outcomes. To let go is not to be protective; it is to permit another to face reality. To let go is not to deny but to accept. To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue, but to search out my own shortcomings and correct them. To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires but to take each day as it comes. To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone but to try to become what dream I can be. To let go is not to regret the past but to grow and live for the future. To let go is to fear less and love more! Praise: \"Power of Your Love\" – https://youtu.be/Ga6Qtxzd6vk Father God, thank you for loving us so dearly. It is about the love of your son, Jesus Christ, everlasting and unfailing love. Your truth sets us free and hopes in Jesus Christ, giving us salvation and eternal life. Lord Jesus, grow in us to believe the truth that you have loved us as the Father has loved you. Lord, lead and direct us as children of the living God, transform our family for your kingdom's purpose. Lord, protect and bless our family unity together by the power of your love and Holy Spirit at work in us. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray, Amen 7
