Family Devotion 2022-08-28 Recruiters Luke 10:1-6 – 10 After this the Lord appointed seventy- two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. 3 Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4 Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. 5 Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ 6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. A vast task confronts you, and you spring into action. You organized committees. You buy supplies. You manage a phone-a-thon. Wait! Have you forgotten to pray? Prayer was at the top of Jesus' list when accomplishing any task. In addition to setting this example, Jesus taught how to divide the labor long before the days of personnel assessment profiles, project-management software, and planning calendars. As you read Luke 9: 51 – 10:42, understand the priority of prayer and place it at the top o your to-do list. Jesus sent out seventy-two of his disciples in pairs to spread the good news about him. Despite this promising start, his mission was still understaffed. The first step he took in solving this problem was to instruct his followers to \"Pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields\" (Luke 10:2). They had a huge task, and getting it done meant asking God to send more people. Likewise, we have a huge task today to further the gospel's spread. No one person, however, can save the world single-handedly. You can't be a missionary to Rwanda, live at home, minister to your family, and tell your coworkers about Christall at once. But you can list the people and causes that matter to you and pray that God will send people to each one. You can also ask him to help you take advantage of the opportunities to share the gospel that come your way. If you have friends and relatives who don’t know Christ, pray for them. ask God to send believers into their lives who will address their concerns, objections, and needs, people who will lead them to the Savior. – Tyndale – The One Year Through the Bible Devotional Reflection: How is God speaking to me through these verses? How can I apply what I read and heard today? To Praise Him and Pray: Make Me a Blessing https://youtu.be/LqyhlKx1VII 7
