Tolerance means recognizing that our diversity is a strength — a wellspring of creativity and renewal for all societies. International Day for Tolerance is marked and observed on 16th November annually in order to foster mutual understanding among cultures and people. It was declared by UNESCO in 1995. The day began as an initiative to affirm that tolerance is an appreciation of the world's cultures and also recognizes human rights and freedom of others. Euro School North Campus observed “Tolerance Week” from 15/11/2021 – 19/11/2021 with various classroom activities to instil the most essential quality in every individual and to reiterate 'Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human'.

English teachers of respective grades talked to the students about the significance of ‘Tolerance’ and conducted Just a Minute , poster making and proverb writing activities in class as ‘Tolerance’ is not passive and demands an active choice to reach out on the basis of mutual understanding and respect, especially where disagreement exists. The students then had a better understanding that-” The culture of tolerance is such a complete system of moral and spiritual capabilities that it involves impeccably tolerant behaviour. They spoke passionately sharing their experiences and thoughts about how being tolerant would benefit them and people around . When making decisions it’s important for individuals and social groups to embrace the culture of tolerance and be guided by the principle that “we” comes before “I.

PLAYING FOOTBALL AS A GIRL Football has been my favourite sport since I started playing it. I still can’t forget the moment my father got me my first football. Football like any sport has enormous benefits ranging from high metabolism, high stamina and speed and also improving your concentration. The feel of your foot touching the grass, or the plain happiness of having scored a goal is just overwhelming. Running around the field, feeling the wind gush across your face and also the sweat that trickles down your skin are the things I truly relish while playing football. Football has taught me many things in life and has made me physically and mentally stronger; I just simply don’t understand why people think that girls can’t play football or girls are weak. I have seen boys teasing each other saying “Shame on you, you got tackled by a girl.” I really think that boys should stop thinking themselves superior to everyone. I play football for the love of the game and not to prove anything to anyone. EuroSchool has always been supportive of girl’s football and I am so proud to be part of this school. There’s not an instant I have ever felt sad playing football as a girl. There’s no better feeling than stepping out on the field and stunning them all by doing what none of them thought you could. -Lavanya Panwar, Grade 10 A Student Editorial Team
