DO NOT QUIT When things go wrong , as they sometimes will when the roads you are trudging seems all up hill when the funds are low and debts are high all you want to smile but you have to sigh when care is pressing you down a bit Rest, if you must, but don't you quit And he learned to late when the night slipped often the goal is nearer than, down, how close he was to the golden crown it seems to faint and flattering man success is failure turned inside out, often struggler has given up the silver tint of the clouds of doubt when he might have captured victor's cup And you never can tell how close you are it may be near when it seems so far , so stick to the fight when you are hardest hit its when things seem worst that you must not quit PRAGUN SHARMA X A

CHOICE OF CAREER – A QUESTION FOR MANY Choosing a career is the most important point in one’s life. This a point where a person decides what he/she wants to be. It decides what occupation one is going to follow until their retirement. Generally, students face a problem in what they want to become. They are confused at questions like - what skill do they enjoy doing or which skill are they great at? Due to this perplexity and the wide career options available, the youth mostly make wrong decisions leading to regret for the entire life. Many students have wide options these days which makes them even more unsure. At times, due to peer pressure they end up choosing a career which they would enjoy with their friends, so that they can accompany their friend for the entire lifetime. Even if the child realizes his/her field of interest, they end-up choosing something else to avoid the fear of being judged by relatives, friends or society. Career choosing is done when a student is at his/her peak of teenage. This has a great impact on career choosing as during these are the years at which a student has realizes self- consciousness and have started understanding the real world around them. However, in the 21st century we have various career guidance programs which not only help choose a right career but also help in discovering a student’s true potential. Hoping that in the upcoming years many such programs take place within schools and are available to each child. This will help the youth of our country to thrive the greatest and bring-up their potential to a good use. DHWANI ABHANI IX B

THE BEST OF YOU!! Morning dews, You’re always too far to see, and a happy you it feels lonely and free make the best of me, Like a star somewhere too good to be, with happiness and glee which I just love like the sea Your perfect eyeliner wing, Night’s starry lights, and and your beautiful rings small chocolate bites the joy it brings, and that beauty in you, with good taste in swings just know you’re the best of you HAMSA MAHESH X C

The sunlight fell into her room MARIE Like a jar of honey, it spilled through Her silken sheets and golden hair The more she screamed, and cried and swore And onto her unforgiving glare The less the servants could ignore Bread cost more than the cure for the plague Frustrated, the maiden stood She replied, ‘let them have cake!’ Unaware of her selfish attitude She screamed for the ‘lazy peasants’ The scene cuts to her crying and wailing Three walked in, with barely any Her only sight her husband’s head, bleeding acknowledgement The smell of blood and the cheers of people As they chanted “down with the nobles!” Sighing as though all of lives woes Plagued her mind, she wore her shoes The bloody blade of the guillotine came down Made of gold, and wore her dress Nobody in the crowd would ever frown Laced to make her waist inches less The cries and protests of the queen were quiet That’s how she was killed, Marie Antoinette TUHINA PRABHU 10 C

WARRIOR What happens when even death is afraid of The sight she saw would scare us both, your courage? A staggering peak dissolved in the clouds In the soft melody of the morning breeze To all who passed, it mockingly asked, While the rest of us slept in peace 'Do you have what it takes to breathe your last?' She awoke, casting aside the shame Daring to play the hardest game. A past of hardship lingered behind Everyone fled with fear on their mind Of trauma, sadness and an ocean of tears As she smiled in silence and began to climb An enormous chasm of infinite fears, Seeing her grit, the gods also froze Yet she looked up, brimming with hope. Forged in flame, the warrior arose. DHRUVA 10 A

TRYING TRYING I sink down under the ground. My feet slowly giving out under me. My head spinning and teeth chattering. I try reaching out but then I realize no one is out there. I look for space but everything is full... I push and scream and cry but it doesn't stop. Slowly it comes, it engulfs me. Although it smells sweet it feels bitter. I try to let it out but it gets stuck. I choke and cough, tears pouring out of my eyes. I wanted to leave but I can’t. I’m stuck... It feels suffocating and it hurts…But- even after all this I won’t give up. I’ll keep pushing and screaming and trying till it finally lets go. Only then will my heart be filled with bright light and relief because I know no matter how much it tries to sink me in and drown me it won’t be able to because I’ll keep trying… Do you guys ever feel like letting go and just leaving everything? Just taking a break from our fast and short lives? There is nothing wrong with that of course, but before you do- clear and organize your life. Leave and forget those who are not meant to be remembered and focus on those who stay by your side. Let your uniqueness spark inside you. You all have a life and you deserve to enjoy every bit of it. And never-ever stop trying because once you do, you’ll regret it and your life will never be the same again. DHWANI ABHANI IX B

IPHONE: A BRIEF HISTORY On January 9th 2007, at the Macworld Conference and Expo show, the then-CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs introduced the revolutionary mobile phone that truly changed the world of mobile technology and computer sciences: the iPhone. While the iPhone was not the first touch/smartphone, it most definitely beat its counterparts in the market. It combined three products - a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device which had a variety of features for its generation, including desktop-class email, web browsing and maps. This was an immediate game-changer and became the blueprint upon which all other smartphone manufacturers based their own hardware and software designs. This does seem rather unimpressive, doesn’t it? However, at the time this was still considered quite an extensive range of features. Since 2007, Apple has redesigned the iPhone multiple times, replacing the metal design with a plastic one for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS models, before moving to glass for the iPhone 4. Over the years they did revert back to the metal and plastic designs, but we have seen the comeback of the glass designs with the latest models. While this iconic phone is an all-round favourite, having promotions from celebrities like Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish, it remains heavily criticised. Initially, despite of how ingenious this was, people focused on its shortcomings, rather than focusing on its plus points. Some reviews, as unbelievable as it sounds, even criticized the iPhone for boasting too many features. Regardless of negative reviews, the iPhone remains iconic, truly marking the beginning of a new era in the history of the evolution of mobile technology. HARSHITHA RAVISHANKAR-11B

The Red Moon The moon was glowing red. Whence, the agony of tears that I shed, And that’s when I knew it was a night full of dread. I took a stroll down the memory lane, Regret paved its way, But it all went down in the drain, Which made me think about yesterday. The night cruelly took over the happy days. As all I could feel was pain. Whereby, it left me wondering in a daze. The night that was once as calm as the sea, Now scares me. ZAARA AIMEN 10C

TAPE STARTS Wars within yourself. I behold the fortress, His walls are troubled, His Love is robbed, feelings demolished. I'm left broken like a glass which is shattered now into a million pieces and a few and a few missing and a few now turned into fine dust, which chased the wind. I pick up those million pieces one by one my hands painted red, and put them inside me in a cage deep, I am on my own Alas, I behold my destruction The pieces are in me, they cannot be mended and whole again. I am in the likeness of an onion with many more layers to safeguard the remaining pieces that I call my heart, You've adorned a wreath of guilt offering? Do you weep on the grave of my heart? Don’t feel me, lest I pierce your feet and paint your hands red, A broken vessel I've become hollow A cracked pot of clay I've been kept aside in desolation, Six feet under I hear your footsteps leaving my abode. Alas, Alas I'm a broken city of desecrated walls, my hands and feet bleed. My scars echo for ages unto ages, You'll feel me , I’ll never be the same … SAAD ANZAR AIN MALLICK- 11A

MOTHER’S LOVE Lovely are those hands, that feed and nurture me She accepts me as her own The only visible God I can see Even when I am unworthy of the love From dusk till dawn, she’s sworn I forget those wonderful days she bears her pains and hides her fears And live my life in an endless maze For someone lowly like me The scars on her hands are symbols My mom is my greatest doctor Of concern and care The one who knows my weaknesses The one that shields me The only one From the evil’s snare Treats me with love and care The one that tells me ANN ROSE REGI, XI-A That love exists even in the darkest places She bears my mistakes And wipes my tears I blame her for mistakes of my own To remove the guilt that I had borne

Never in my wildest dreams, had I imagined that I would go through such a stage where the entire world would be grappling to get a hold on its lives. We have all seen movies with some far-fetched story line painting a dim picture of the near future and the protagonists coursing through the movie to find a solution, bidding time against time. What has been fictional in movies, novels and have grossed maximum returns for the producers and publishers, is now our reality. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the universal set of teachers had been thrown overboard from a traditional setting to a tech-enabled life, with “reconnecting” becoming a frequent occurrence. The said word’s roots lay only in virtual world and the human connection began dissipating in our little learners and facilitators. This profession is also undergoing constant evolution and our nerves are challenged to an even greater extent as both the stakeholders wrestle with the fact of coming back to physical classrooms after a gap of almost two years. However, we are ready to race against time to make the situation worthwhile for both and bring in the best learning environment to complete our journey of knowledge acquisition. Synthetic fibres are hydrophobic in nature Why we wear cotton cloths in summer, but not during swimming? Why swim suits are made of synthetic material?
